Thank you so much for understanding this. I’m definitely one who needs to verbalize and discuss and seek outside ideas to truly figure out what I’m feeling.

We’ve had a few conversations before where I candidly talk about how his poor handling of arguments makes me feel. Thank you for the sympathy. We’ve had a conversation or two before and what happens is things are good for a while, and then they revert to the “normalcy” that is him initiating less, etc. At this point I don’t know if I should keep trying to pursue a conversation that clearly isn’t sticking?

Thank you so much for this advice!!! I want a partnership where both partners are on the same page and will be able to work together to raise a family. Obviously it doesn’t have to be 50/50 equal per se, as in my current situation my boyfriend pays more of the rent and I take charge of the cooking and cleaning duties. I definitely will check out Chloe_ and look into better vetting tactics.

Thank you so much!! That’s great advice. I will be doing that from now on. I have looked into narcissistic tendencies and I suspect that he may have some. Though now I’m not really sure how to process this information...

Fair point... I am fearful avoidant in my attachment and tend to look for a way out often times.

I haven’t made up my mind. I’m here because I’m constantly vetting my boyfriend to make sure he is captain material, but I’m having trouble determining whether or not some qualities are troubling.

It does feel manipulative. I don’t know what to do when he says it. Part of the reason we’re living together is because I wanted to move out of my parents’ house but couldn’t afford to live on my own... He offered to pay more of the rent so that we could live together.

We do get along most of the time, but during most of our arguments he tends to act this way. It is a variety of issues. As for the sex issue I think it is partly because of insecurity. His body count is much higher than mine and he’s always been a player type, very naturally flirty and whatnot. I guess I feel insecure that perhaps he doesn’t find me appealing enough to seek out sex with me...

Thank you for this. I can’t tell if I’m realistic or just being nitpicky on most things and it’s definitely frustrating... As for school, it doesn’t technically matter if I choose a program in state or out of state. Either way he wants to continue to live with me.

That’s totally fair. I was unsure about moving in together since I know the statistics... I’m just so confused on what to question and what to just let go.

My last ex had a Google drive filled with racy photos of our mutual friends from high school. Pictures of girls we knew, who would post bikini pictures of themselves on social media. He would screenshot the photos from their Instagrams or other social media and use them to jack off every single day. I’m still reeling at how I kept quiet about it for 5 months after finding that stash, then stayed with him for an additional 6 months while he continued to betray my trust. I also had to explain to h…

I don’t think I’ll snoop again. After the fact I wished I hadn’t because it was more on my mind to think about. But does that mean I don’t trust him?

You know, this could be possible. I’ve always internalized and pushed away the signs but maybe it’s time to face them.

Should I reveal to him that I went through his phones all that time ago? I’m terrified because it’s a major violation of trust. But if I hadn’t, I wouldn’t ever have found out.

thanks! Can you elaborate on the concept of a fear of finding “the one” too early and why this is a substantial fear in men? I’ve confided in him that I worry about how he’ll most likely want to experience being single and dating other girls, and he said that he wouldn’t mind if he only dated me, forever. Of course, I was skeptical and this could be an example of what you mentioned — saying whatever it is that he thinks I want him to say.

thanks for your response. We are both in our early 20’s, if that helps. edit: I wanted to follow up! What do you suggest is the best protocol now that I’m armed with this information? I know that if I bring up that he isn’t serious about this, he’ll argue that he’s introduced me to his family and that we have multiple planned trips, etc.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
