Misogynistic men are starting from the position that most women are terrible, and that their daughters are the exception (and probably giving themselves a great big pat on the back for raising a good, exceptional girl.)

The Madonna/Whore complex is a such a cope for men. "It's different! My daughter is a good girl!" It offers protection and solace when what they should really be feeling is guilt.

"Ladies, ladies, calm down! Don't be so hysterical! Why ya gotta be bitches about a little thing like profiting off rape and human trafficking? Making mountains out of mole hills much? I'll be so bored and that would be a real problem!"

There is a wonderfully self aware song by the one (two?) person band Crywank called Leech Boy. Here are some great lyrics: " I feel like a leech to everyone around me Unsure and false promises I make I invade your existence with my dependence And leave you guilt tripped until you take Care of me, for if not, I will surely die I don't feed or clean myself and I am always high Putting pipe dreams before the necessities in life Without your help, I have no hope to survive And now I know that sounds…

I had good examples in men, too. My silent era grandfather and boomer uncles may not have mopped floors, but they did their part to pick up after themselves. My grandmother was home manager, but grandad took part. So, if she was vacuuming, he was moving furniture. If she was folding laundry, he was carrying the stacks upstairs. He didn't sit around farting into his chair. The men were always clean and neat. It was a BIG point of pride for my grandmother that my grandfather was still wearing suit…

I now read, "My wife is boring." as, "I'm a narcissist. My wife has my number and is now gray-rocking the shit out of me until a shiny new person catches my eye and I lose interest in her, so she can get the kids away from me safely."

Did you see the "no sex until commitment" part and thought "damn, I have to pretend to commit to get laid now?" And think that was a woman's manipulation tactic? "But, but, but you're manipulating me into manipulating you! That makes me feel like an asshole!!" mAnIpUlAtE hIgH vAlUe MeN stuck out like a sore thumb to me, too. If women end up in unhappy, unfulfilling or even abusive relationships? Well, it's their own fault. They didn't vet well enough. If a movement forms to try to teach women ho…

If the choice is between him and cats, I choose cats. And shall I croak, may they enjoy my eyelids in good health.

The Good Captain tweeted in 2018: "So, true story about Broken Glass Guy: Over the years, *more than one* person has emailed me claiming to be Broken Glass Guy and railing at the unfair portrayal and defending the broken glass incident" WTF!!! How could so many douchebags see themselves in that letter?!?!?! The mind. It boggles.

I physically cringe whenever I think how the hell did I think it was appropriate to pursue him. Ew. Don't be too hard on yourself. You bought the lie of the cool girl. And how could you not? It's everywhere! In media, from friends, maybe even from family! But now that you know better, you can do better. <3

If you date this guy for the long term, this will be a fight that you fight forever. Your birthday? Oops, you missed your reservation! He was asleep. Dinner with your family? He was 2 hours late and you're mortified. Important event at work? Either you go alone (and fight about how you left without him when you get back), or you miss it and someone else gets the opportunity to schmooze for the promotion you want. Baby is crying? Enjoy being the only parent whose sleep is interrupted, while you'r…

"Sometimes the cheapest way to pay is with money." is one of my very favorite expressions. You'd do way better making that money back yourself by leveling up in your career, than chasing a worthless man down to get back $1500. And leveling up at work will make you feel GOOD, while being entangled with this turd will drain your spirit. I'd do a little personal ritual to tell the universe you consider a line drawn under this unfortunate event, and move on with a light heart. (And be glad it's such…

There is a very nervous turd of a man in the comments defending the guy. Physician, heal thyself.

I for one am really excited about putting on my uncomfortable shoes and wasting my good makeup and getting my nails done and waxing everything below the eyebrows to get a free salad from some sap (while I listen to him talk with his mouth full about work and how all his exes are crazy.)

Oh, geez, this reminds me of the letter to Captain Awkward about the guy who was too woke to clean up broken glass. It was astounding.

Imagine carrying a baby to term. The sleepless nights, the pain, the puking, the wear and tear on your body. Then loving that child and putting your heart and soul into growing him up. Singing to him, comforting him, feeding and clothing and bathing him. And then when he's all grown up, this is what he turns out to be. His poor mother. What a waste of a precious life.

Go with your gut always. This is great advice. We've been conditioned to ignore our gut instinct to be nice, and to give men a chaaaaance. Fuck that. Our gut instinct is there to protect us, and listening to it is an act of self preservation.

There is nothing weird about being nude in your own home. There IS something weird about making it some big thing. Like, this is his own little personal rebellion? Being pantsless in your own house? I guess there are worse things. I wonder if this is some sort of trickle truth thing, like, he just happens to be nude in front of open windows for a thrill, or. I mean, I don't know, maybe he's a good enough guy that doing something perfectly normal like lounging around au naturel feels transgressiv…

Every time I search up the reddit for my city's page (I'll never join. It fills my feed with a bunch of bullshit) a sub pops up called something like "random acts of blowjobs." I cannot imagine ever hating myself enough to put my body, mind and heart at risk like that, and I'm heartbroken for my sisters that do. If there was ever an argument for available, affordable mental health help in this country. .

That seems like a lot of work for one night of sex, especially considering the first time is usually lackluster. No man is going to be able to get me off the first time. It takes a few times to learn my combination! Was this a power play to string a man along and hurt him in the end, to "one-up" men in general? Sis, your efforts are better spent building yourself up and building an awesome life for yourself. Let the men play stupid games with people's hearts and, in turn, win stupid prizes. Our …

This reminds me of that horrid tracking device in the excellent short story Four Steps to the Perfect Smokey Eye by Claire Humphrey. Strongly recommend a read if you've got a few minutes to spare. It's great.

I'm reading The Rules for Marriage right now, and they touch on this pretty early in the book. They specifically say how a man will ask you (or insinuate for you to) give up things that take up your time (friends, hobbies, career) and then get bored of you and resentful that you're around so much. Men don't know what they want, which, if you're in a relationship it's exhausting! Because you should be able to trust what your partner says, not have to do a bunch of shitty detective work trying to …

and not even have custody of her own children? That's what makes this especially gross to me. He said he traveled for work, but he wants full custody guaranteed. So he'd rather his kids be raised by nannies than their own mother? Or he'd use a woman's kids as a constant threat to her, as in, "Do everything I want how I want or your relationship with your children is at risk." So on the one hand, he's putting his own selfish wants to have HEIRS, and disregarding their emotional needs (healthy rel…
