We’ve touched on many across the oodles of word count I’ve left across this thread, starting with the original discussion I had with a previous discussion partner. There is no handy fix-all. I’d point you back to bell hooks. As men, we have the power to betray common power structures and toxic expectations. She points out a lot of us are actually beholden to the sexual expectations of other men in order to prove manhood. She discusses how the pain of rejection can fester and become the basis for…

Well, I would never take a claim entirely on statistics. The truth can only be approached through a combination of qualitative and quantitative understanding. Statistics are insanely easy to twist. My dad always repeated the saying “the figures don’t lie, but liars sure can figure.” They’re also easily misunderstood. For example: Like, did you know women who own horses live longer than other women? (No, horses are expensive. That means they can afford healthcare, and wealth usually means she has…

Everything is connected. And so are my points. And I certainly don’t disagree with the assertion about discrimination. Don’t make me regret answering in good faith please 😂 Take care.

No—because like the person I’ve had this discussion with above, you’re going to ignore the social l, historical, and political context in which these phenomena take place. I’m not going to read through a handful of cherry-picked examples of systemic oppression devoid of any meaningful context. As such, you’ll be throwing what I assume is “evidence” at me for its rhetorical rather than its substantive quality. No matter how many times I can return to you with, “women suffer X crimes y many more t…

And you have… nothing… everything you have is rhetorically and substantively empty. You’ve responded to nothing. Nothing about Gamergate? No rebuttal of misogyny in leaders of world powers or on the mouths of mega-influencers? One last thing for you: it’s my opinion because maybe the women deserve it, right? That’s NOT a rebuttal of the existence of prolific misogyny, it’s an admission. Look, I’m not trying to raise your anger, but you absolutely wrong. It is, perhaps even wilder, to claim what …

Fine downvote me. But as addendum to this discussion, I submit that the same refrain that red pillers hate so much still reigns supreme. You are talking about hashtags, I am taking about material reality. Ergo— “Men worry about being laughed at, women have to worry about being murdered.”

No. Unfortunately for you, all there is in your comment is an opinion. it is an opinion based off of anecdotal evidence. What I wrote is not just an opinion—for one, it’s observable from every angle but it has been documented and been theorized upon by social scientists and historians. It ceases being an opinion and becomes a theory backed by expertise and evidence. You haven’t addressed anything specifically—maybe start with addressing how it’s an “opinion” hat Gamergate isn’t misogynistic? I b…

That’s not remotely true. One could stand to write an entire dissertation on the current global political climate and how misogyny undergirds almost the entire ideology. It is a cavalcade of women-hating and/women objectifying men, including gay men, all men’s men obsessed with the metaphorical “daddy” and the “traditional household” which means—you guessed it—rule by a patriarch. In the US at least, Gamergate is the primordial goo that brought about the alt-right, which happens to be the alpha …

Well yea 100%—but I’ll add that a lot that’s labeled misandry in internet spaces isn’t misandry. This is the cold hard barrier we keep coming up against again and again. For example, Anita Sarkeesian doesn’t produce misandrist work, not even a little bit. Yet there are still guys who will want to rip my head off (and will try to do so verbally) for even hinting at that. It can create more problems to capitulate to someone who is absolutely wrong. For my money, the truth lies in spaces that are t…
