Oh trust me man, I don’t let any theories scare me away from living my life regardless of whether or not I think they hold true. A scared life isn’t worth living

or else only the top 20% would be getting casual no-strings attached sex and other pure attraction based shit and that is obviously is not the case Dude really? Do you not have any stud guy friends? For average dudes like you and me, no. But my former roommates (jacked, good jawline, good hair, etc) could literally say/do whatever he wanted and women would throw themselves at him. One of the most abusive dudes I've known when it comes to relationships and it didn't at all matter. He'd have at le…

Most data has flaws... does that mean we should just ignore it entirely. And once again you have presented nothing other than "well even though that paints a pretty significant picture, it has some flaws so lets completely ignore it". If there was LITERALLY ANY data or evidence of any kind to the contrary then we could have a discussion but your compromised ass would rather just ignore the little we have. And I'm the dipshit lol.

Yeah it's about as flawed as the opinion of an unattractive dude asking dating advice on reddit and terrified of the idea of the 80/20 rule due to the fact that hes very clearly not in that 20%... not the ideal representation but there doesn't seem to be ANY data that exists to the contrary. No perfect data sets exist but data from the attractiveness of a multi-million person data pool is light-years better than none. It may not prove 80/20 to be fact but it sure as hell doesn't even come close …

Can you give me an example of a better representation we could use to draw a conclusion? I'm all ears, seriously. And more importantly do you not understand how much of the decision making and conclusions are drawn on simple app data? Do you not see the billions being made by apps for said data? Do you think this would be the case if it wasn't at least a little bit significant?

To represent the general human population, a large randomized subset of users is pretty much ideal. What better area to pull data to support the 80/20 theory than one of the worlds largest dating sites? Especially for something as simple as attraction? Also, you do realize that much of our data(I’d go as far as to say a majority) are from apps such as this and is considered very accurate and valuable. Like make Facebook into a near trillion dollar company valuable... God I just love when people …

As a data scientist I know that a million+ person subset is extremely significant and enough to draw basic conclusions that are common enough without data that they’ve created stereotypes and led to many discussions on the topic. Especially when no data sets to the contrary, no matter how small, seem to exist. Clinical Studies with as few as 10,000 subjects are used to justify medical rollouts that effect entire populations but a data set of millions of people engaging over years from all walks …

It's a sample size of millions of daily active users. I am quite literally a data scientist for a living and I will tell you that is a very significant volume. Conclusions have been drawn over far less on decisions made that affect all of us... This is very clearly an area that you have little to no understanding in. In this situation I find it's best to just bow out of the discussion to not risk looking anymore clueless than you've already shown...

Okay please provide a more robust data set then please. The fact is, you're arguing against data with... opinion. Even a specific data set is significantly better than no data.

If it's irrelevant than why did you bring it up? While I don't agree with OPs theory, I do think 80/20 is extremely relevant in terms of hypergamy in women. If we can conclude, through a large sample size of data, that 80% of women are only attracted to 20% of men yet marriage rate don't agree then we can posit the theory that many women are marrying men for everything but looks and, as such, may choose to jump ship if a man who provides the same while being more attractive comes along. The part…

Sorry I guess I don't understand your lingo. I also fail to see how the 80/20 is irrelevant. I mean, YOU brought it up... Also, using personal anecdotes to try to disprove large data sets is just really not a bright move. Pretty much destroys any bit of argument you had. I too would say I'm a standard deviation or two below my partner as far as looks but I also realize that in a world of billions, there's going to be many contradictory examples to concepts we hold true... hence why data is so im…

Okay I understand that "proven" is not the best choice word. But to ignore very large data sets on the issue is just anti-intellectualism. There is far more data to support that the 80/20 rule holds water than exists the contrary. But if you disagree then please feel free to provide some data.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/01/21 08:10 PM

what you're referring to is the 80/20 rule and it's been statistically proven and it's not about "not getting married" it's based on attractiveness (essentially that 80%+ of women find <20% of men attractive). Not saying I completely agree with OP but lets not ignore the documented math...

1) no mention of "flinging money around" but nice strawman lol 2) another strawman, you completely avoided the point and replied with off-point drivel 3) Stupid? For something that thousands of years of human evolution has influenced? I see you're void of logic 4) Support her ass? an adult ass capable of earning her own income? What happened to strong independent women? Sounds like wanting your cake and eating it too lol 5) Money is a completely made up concept. Looks are quite literally physica…

It's not necessarily that "us guys" view ALL women as money-sucking she-devils but enough women are that it makes guys who have a decent bit of money very cautious. It's very apparent in the tech world. I have co-workers that are well-paid savants but many reached that level of mastery because they were socially awkward or "physically unappealing" in their youth and had a ton of spare time to dedicate to their craft. When you go from the guy no girl would even want to be seen with in your youth …

Judging by divorce rates, you're essentially risking it all on red. Sounds like a terrible risk/reward ratio. Also, it sounds like your terrible social setting is deeply distorting your worldview. Idk where you are but if I lived in an area where older single men are "usually alcoholics" I'd move the hell away.. I'll leave it at this - there's a reason why it isn't dudes who's friends are hounding their girlfriend wondering: "when are you going to pop the question". I've only ever heard women as…

Ooof you must have missed the part where the people on UBI will be those who's jobs will be replaced by automation. Those who oversee the automation will still have very meaningful employment, I.E big tech... Which is 75% men, despite having more programs/scholarships/equal employment opportunities than any other industry. I'm guessing you also missed the part where women, on average, pay about 60% less in taxes than men. Also, about 50% (absolutely staggering) of women led households are on som…

That's a laugh, men lonely because they aren't married. The loneliest men I know are those who are married. Us unmarried men have a ton of time to hang with each other and don't have to answer to anyone about congregating. Married men I know are also, not coincidentally, those who generally have the least amount of discretionary income. When we are lonely it's generally as simple as getting a dog and a hobby where we spend time with other people. Its the women I know who are constantly obsessing…

Definitely has nothing to do with the fact that divorce is (for women) incentivized financially. Mackenzie Benzos is quite literally the richest woman in the world via divorce... If I had to stake a bet I'd say you're going to see more and more happily single men in the coming years. I'd be interested to see stats on how many men, say ages 18-30, actually wish to get married. In my anecdotal experience it's well under 50%

I guess you're mistaking my attempt to bring light and warn others for a cry for sympathy? When you realize you're in near complete control of the outcomes in your life and take full responsibility for what direction you steer that outcome, you don't seek sympathy from anyone let alone internet strangers... You should switch up that mindset and try it. Pretty liberating!

So my roommate (we'll call him Dave) is currently dating a girl (Emily) who works at Bikini Beans (essentially if Hooters and Dutch Bros had a baby). We just moved into a nice place with a pool so, naturally, her and her co-workers are over often. The shit I hear out of their mouths is scaring me away from ever wanting to get into a serious relationship. Every single one of those girls seems to be constantly looking to monkey branch regardless of how good their situation already is. Good first h…

No man, if she made it clear she isn't interested but then goes and sends you "sexy videos" it's likely that she sent them to an array of dudes and is just looking for some drooling simps to boost her self esteem. Falling for the thirst trap isn't going to boost your chances in the slightest. Compliments are reserved for when a girl has already shown interest and you want to subtly let her know you are sexually interested as well. Compliments prior to that moment just let her know that she could…

Happy I could help, brother! It's never easy severing connections and you're likely to feel some regret, maybe even for a somewhat extended period of time. My best advice is to dedicate your newfound time into a goal or project you're working toward/have been putting off. Once your time investment starts to pay off it's amazing how quickly you'll forget about her. Cheers!

If this is the state of things only a year into the relationship, it's only going to get worse... Her getting upset at you not being able to be a part of plans she made without any of your input is a big red flag and the fact that she makes said plans without your knowledge and then expects you to pay makes matters even worse. Intimate relationships aside, any person who brings a great deal of stress into your life or makes you feel "overwhelmed" isn't worth the time or effort. At the very least…

Don't feed the whale boys. Let her self-destruct and die lonely, unable to fulfill her basic natural purpose because 99.9% of men find unintelligent, blue haired, 200lb+ feminazis to be unsuitable mate (what a surprise!)

Very highly unlikely unless you already suffer from severe depression and suicidal tendencies (in which case that should be addressed before even contemplating mind altering substances). Personally, I look at LSD/mushroom trips as a kind of "reprogramming" where the stuff that's truly important to you, especially that which has been neglected, comes to light and is addressed. Connection to nature is heightened as well which is why a lot of people try have the experiences outdoors in a nice setti…

I know it's hard considering you have been with her for 7 years but get the hell out before you waste anymore of your life with her. The fact that she took made the conscious effort to mask her conversations by saving him under a different name tells you everything you need to know. She has zero remorse and this will continue until the day she feels as though she's no longer in her prime and can't monkey branch.
