The best place to start is to go to grocery stores or shopping for clothes. You will be approached by a friendly/smiling assistant and they will ask "how are you going?" don't just say "good thanks" and shut up. Tell them you really feel and tell them why, this will start a conversation between you and the helpful assistant.
