How many months before giving upOh absolutely and without getting into it here the divorce stretching on for 3 years is relatively tame compared to the absolute insanity I have been subjected to over the last 3 years.... I have a restraining order against her after she was physically stalking me, they lost the court hearing for it and then they took it to the court of appeals and they lost there and then they took it to the Supreme Court and then they lost there. And then in the meantime their attorney who is the mayor of a Sm… | /r/Divorce_Men | 21/02/26 01:33 AM
How many months before giving upThat is a very good question that I still haven't figured out. Last year they tried to have me held in contempt of court for talking about snowboard repair on Reddit.... That obviously didn't work out for them. | /r/Divorce_Men | 15/02/26 07:43 PM
How many months before giving upWhen she first mentioned divorce, i suggested couples therapy, after 3 sessions she said divorce was the only option, and I said okay. Been divorced for a year and a half, she is still dragging me into court almost 3 years after filing. Thank god we didnt have kids. | /r/Divorce_Men | 15/02/26 04:53 PM
Question for attorneys - why would you take an unethical case?If a lawyer has a moral compass that doesn't follow the evidence, they should be disbarred. I'm currently going through it with my ex, her attorney not only is broken ethical rules but broke the law, fabricating a crime to have me arrested. When the judge found out, they disqualified their attorney. They are currently trying to appeal the disqualification, and trying to have the judge removed after 2.5 years. Thank god no kids, well it is extremely distressing to have to deal with constant perso… | /r/Divorce_Men | 16/12/25 06:16 AM
Fair or foul to ask all interaction to go through lawyersNo clue how much the Ex has spent, but I believe it has surpassed their share of equity in the home. Neither one of us is wealthy, so pissing away every last cent we had acquired on scumbag lawyers doesn't make any sense, but here we are. One of their most recent filings stated they were laid off, and of course blamed me, I have had no contact with this person since May of 2023, and everything in their world is still my fault. Pure delusion. Prior to going pro-se, I spent about 30k, and the nons… | /r/Divorce_Men | 31/10/25 08:13 PM
Fair or foul to ask all interaction to go through lawyersExpensive... representing myself Pro-se in the divorce, but having to bail out in jail and having to hire criminal defense attorneys is not cheap. Thank God no kids, just a house. The bar association is currently investigating the disqualified attorney as well. She asked for divorce in 2023 and I agreed, we were legally divorced as of November 2024 it's still tied up in the court system... | /r/Divorce_Men | 31/10/25 01:45 AM
Fair or foul to ask all interaction to go through lawyersMy ex's lawyer (not the ex) got a harassment restraining order that required all correspondence to go through the court system. They then chose to routinely call police and try to have me arrested for filing all correspondence through the court system. Eventually they got a prosecutor corrupt enough to support their claim and I was arrested for filing documents in my own divorce as a pro-se litigant, not for contempt of court or anything like that for allegedly violating the attorneys harassment… | /r/Divorce_Men | 30/10/25 11:02 PM
Men who got walked out on, is it offensive when your STBX says they mourned your marriage during it?My ex "walked out" two and a half years ago, we've been legally divorced for over a year now, they're still filing motions in the court claiming all manner of abuse that I "need to control them". I haven't spoken with them in over 2 and 1/2 years, we have no kids so there's absolutely no reason to communicate, they were following me around and I had to get a restraining order against them in Spring of this year, they challenged it in court of course and lost, and now it's before the Court of App… | /r/Divorce_Men | 07/10/25 07:04 PM
Has anyone else kept the house in a settlement, but decided they needed to sell/move to start fresh?I kept the house and paid her the equity, no kids. Between her, her family, and her lawyer, they have done everything they illegally can do to harass me (calling in fake "wellness checks" to police, false police reports, etc.) As soon as I am able I will be relocating for my safety, security cameras and electronic locks on the home can't protect you from endless harassment, but if they don't know where you live it is substantially more difficult at least. Her lawyer was the worst of the worst, m… | /r/Divorce_Men | 02/09/25 11:31 PM
What’s the NUCLEAR OPTION for Ending a Divorce Fast in Texas? You would think... I wanted to let her keep her savings and retirement accounts, at the time of the divorce I had no savings or retirement accounts myself even, all I asked for was to sell the house and split it down the middle... That was over two years ago, trial was last year, then her psychotic attorney swung for contempt, and lost. Thank God no children. After she engaged in stalking of me, I was able to get a harassment restraining order against her, which they of course contested, and los… | /r/Divorce_Men | 11/07/25 05:41 AM
Divorce without a lawyer?Absolutely, my "Amicable No Attorney's" Divorce turned into a multiyear shitstorm with PLENTY of attorneys, tens of thousands in useless litigation, and restraining orders flying EVERY which way. They want a divorce, they don't care to work things out with you, and they will absolutely be listening to their overpaid lawyer on just how much hurt to put you in, if they have a lawyer, you need one. | /r/Divorce_Men | 27/06/25 12:39 AM
Divorce without a lawyer? If she can afford a lawyer, you can afford a lawyer... And by that I mean, unless she is using pre-martial assets to fund her attorney, the funds she is using are martial funds (which means they are also yours). Look into a motion for "needs-based" attorney's fees, if your state has such a provision. | /r/Divorce_Men | 27/06/25 12:37 AM
AI for divorce filing DBB case/legal plan coverage. If you have an attorney reviewing it, that sounds like a really good buy. Those AI's have been known to create case law that doesn't actually exist, which could land you in hot water. Whether or not you go to trial is not really in your hands anyway, my ex refused to settle, refused to negotiate, fought tooth and nail for everything even though they had no reasonable chance of getting it, finally after nearly 18 months, we had a mediation and settled, the very next day their attorney tried to co… | /r/Divorce_Men | 24/05/25 03:39 AM
She made a post on Facebook about her Narcissistic abusive husband.Yeah I got a harassment restraining order finally against them. At around 11:00 last night her attorney is serving even more stuff on me, including an affidavit by her where she's screenshotting all my various Reddit posts claiming that me responding to somebody in the snowboarding read it about how to repair their snowboard was somehow a violation of our dissolution order! I called the cops! Like move on with your life for Christ's sake! It's been 2 years! If you're so willing to stalk me that … | /r/Divorce_Men | 26/03/25 01:46 PM
Married for 2 years. No kids no house. Im hoping for an equitable divorce but no guarantee.Similar experience the wife claimed that they wanted to be amicable and then blindsided me with an attorney they repeatedly returned to the house and blatantly stole my property that I had owned since even before the marriage but at the end of the day I just looked at it as a dollars and cents thing and said is it worth spending $400 an hour on an attorney to demand that they give this property back and then have them fight me on it costing me more money, or just buy new stuff. I opted to just b… | /r/Divorce_Men | 22/02/25 06:18 PM
She made a post on Facebook about her Narcissistic abusive husband.Narcissist = agreeing to divorce when asked, asking what can be done to settle to save the limited marital equity. Narcissist = actively in therapy attempting to heal after abuse.... The list goes on and on. As my therapist put it, if you were actually a narcissist you would not be in therapy worried that you were a narcissist.... | /r/Divorce_Men | 10/02/25 04:40 PM
I begged and I regret doing it!When my wife approached me and asked for a divorce I asked for couples therapy after three sessions of the therapist not telling me that I was the biggest piece of shit in the world and that might Behavior was reasonable she quit couples therapy saying there was nothing more to say and that we had to get divorced. I agree I said if that's the way you feel I don't want to keep you. She said let's do this without attorneys to save money. Then she swung at me with her attorney and proceeded to drag… | /r/Divorce_Men | 10/02/25 04:32 PM
