Isn't it somewhat more about...staying on-mission (whatever that may be for you)? If you wanna focus on 1...that doesn't automatically equate to assuming a beta role. Before I do so, I would want to read more, ruminate on it and reprocess that past and relationship first through a THP "filter" and reassess the 'framing', dynamics and events that occurred. And...at the same time, the past is the past. Learning from it = win. Letting it keep me in a bad place (and off-mission) is no bueno.
