This was great...I appreciate you sharing it. I needed a refresher as I have been offline for a while. It keeps me on track!

Yes, it generated some interesting discussion which is what it's all about really!

That's a fair call, I should have phrased it 'another way of interpreting it could have been'

All input is appreciated :) It's always interesting to see how things are perceived since there's no tone on the internet. Just as long as it doesn't de-rail into a tone argument rather than the intent of the discussion. When I went back and re-read it, I could see that. Particularly if you're always having to be on your guard for trolls etc. However, I posted on RPW stating that you all offer more than this already. I want to learn more about these extra things RPW offer. How RPW bring this poi…

Leading to an upward or downward cycle in confidence. It all ties together when you explain it in such a way. I appreciate your input :)

That's a different angle that I hadn't considered. I've seen the effects of that too

The common theme with these answers is with your SO understanding that he has your unwavering support, no matter what

The statement didn't have any meaning one way or another. I suppose it could be interpreted in such a way. Wasn't the intent though

Surrounding yourself with competent people has to be the key here. Showing that you have 100% faith in him is one less thing for him to have to be concerned with

Good point. I hadn't thought of that

Sounds like delegating gets easier over time. And also by trusting people to do what you have asked them to

If you don't have them already, my suggestion would be to purchase extra long hair extensions (good quality human hair) as they add volume and length even when curled. You can always cut the length if needed. If you always wear your hair down, this gives it a little something extra. It was something like this but with a bit more polished curls and more hair...I was in absolute awe of my hairdresser!

Your post made me realise how lucky us RP women are who 'bet on the right horse' early. Well, maybe luck isn't the right word. I'm sure most of us identified on some level those guys with true potential over those without.

It's sad that marriage is no longer something that benefits both parties. I can completely see from a male's perspective. My biggest fear growing up has always been for my younger brother (who's lived quite the bachelor's life) in finding a woman worth marrying. To see him give up on getting married made me sad, since he always wanted something as great as what my parents have. He's always had his pick of women - both my girlfriends and his younger sister's friends have had flings with him over …

I think that you can help him most by simply reassuring him that you're by his side no matter what. Even if he can't afford much right now...you still think the world of him. Help him remain focused on the (shared) end-goal. Sure it's hard now but it's going to be worth it in the future. That you can see his potential and these short term struggles will end since you believe he has what it takes to come out the other side.

Phew...long article. “women’s desire is not relational, it’s narcissistic” — it is dominated by the yearnings of “self-love,” by the wish to be the object of erotic admiration and sexual need." Women want to be sexually irresistible, something men want so wildly that they can't hold back, they can't resist. A total object of desire. The target of a man's power and action. It gave me some names to lookup for clinical/journal articles for further research.

Glad you finally decided to post...same age gap as my husband and I :) Sometimes I have to remind my husband "I'm 5 years behind you remember!" but he's constantly motivating me to reach my potential

You shouldn't feel like hiring a cleaner will make you less of a RPW, because you certainly have a legitimate need for one. It's not like you're choosing to be lazy or shirking your duties. My SO and I currently both work full-time so once a fortnight we get a cleaner to come in to keep on top of maintaining things. Honestly it's been a lifesaver for my sanity! I like things to be clean and in order. My SO wanted me less stressed so he suggested it. Also, the cost p/h for a cleaner works out les…

If I do something, I want to do it 100% and put all my effort into it so it's done to the best of my ability. Looking objectively it became apparent to me... there was no way I could work full-time and be there for my future children in the way I want to be (the way my mother was for me). I agree with you....when did 'just being a mum' and nothing more become something other women look down upon? It's seen as the easy way out, or something that women do when they 'can't cut it' in another arena.…

I really feel for you :( It sounds as though he is dealing with something psychological that requires your support at a time when it's needed most. But you need a Captain - someone who takes in your feedback and is willing to step up and take action, continue to improve himself, to benefit both of your lives. I have never helped a man through addiction or depression (if this actually what it is) and can't offer any insight. From what I've seen with other relationships, the man has to come to a p…

You make a great point that I often forget. Women trying to identify as alpha are subscribing to male definitions of success and trying to compete wih men on these terms. There's nothing wrong with defining your success as a female on different terms.

I grinned at your female brain reaction to your SO's feedback....I completely relate! In fact I just responded to Frankenoodle saying the exact same thing. I am so happy to have found all you other RPW with the same thought processes as me, but who are also able to recognise these weaknesses :) Congratulations on reaching your goal weight!

These concepts were what made total sense to me when I first read this sub.... but no-one had ever explained it in such a straightforward way before. What if I put the same amount of effort into my marriage as I have into my education/career? Being a good wife is a choice and needs daily attention in the form of action; it needs to be actively cultivated. Since then I've started paying a lot more attention to his needs.

Re-choosing to trust him. That's a great way of putting it. I am still learning to surrender totally. Those times when we react emotionally are the true tests... are we going to retreat into ourselves and become defensive or have total faith in our men.

I know, how great is it! I don't know anyone else who has one and it's made such an amazing difference in my life - you can't even explain it properly to anyone! I had forgotten what it was like to have that sexual filter on all day. Sometimes by the end of the day I'm practically smoldering and my poor tired husband gets pestered after a long day at work :) Happy times! I'll never go back to the pill

I think using a neutral tone is a good idea. I've been trying to not get defensive when my husband brings up an issue but it can be really hard, especially when I care deeply about what he thinks of me! His opinion of me is the only one I care about. All I care about is making him happy. I internalise his feedback as criticism and can sometimes beat myself up about it - which is my problem - not his.

I stopped because I didn't like who I was changing into and I knew he didn't like it. Congratulations on being able to take a step back to consider whether this was the path you wanted to go down. The amount of attention you get from these hostess/promo club jobs can make you giddy and inflate your ego - until you take a step back to see how hollow and vapid it all is.

Being open to learning about what makes him happy I really like that idea. Do you pick things that he's indicated he'd be happy to share with you, or do just pick something and take the initiative to learn? My SO has said a couple of times that he would teach me poker as I'd be good at it, but he typically plays this with the boys. I hadn't really been interested but your advice has got me thinking...maybe it's something we could share enjoyment in. I hadn't wanted to encroach on his time with t…

I worry about this too. We're starting a family soon (hopefully). About six months ago I stopped hormonal contraceptives and instead have a copper IUD - I didn't want drugs regulating my natural hormones. And wow why hadn't I done that sooner! I feel like a woman again. I already had a healthy libido but it went through the roof! But a side-effect is I have noticed I can react more emotionally. I know I will have to be wary of this whilst pregnant, even though my husband will be very understandi…

That's great advice. When the house is in order I just feel so much better about life in general...I know you RPW can relate. My SO doesn't mind a little disorder and disorganization at home so sometimes I can get complacent. Then when my house is clean and shiny on the weekend I wonder why on earth I let things get away from me during the busy work week!

You explained something that I can relate to perfectly. When I make excuses for my laziness I DO feel depressed and like a failure at the end of the day. It can start a downward spiral of listlessness. You sound like you've had great success avoiding excuses for your behaviour. Next time I am feeling tired and just want to sit down for a minute...I'm going to think of what you said and push on through!

Spot on! I have selfish reasons too - I love being able to turn my SO on. I know my looks are part of his attraction to me and I intend to keep it that way as long as possible! I also love the way I feel when I am fit - my clothes look great, I like feeling good when I look at myself in the mirror (instead of avoiding them). There's also an innate confidence and sense of power that permeates everyday life when I am feeling sexy. But to be honest, the driver that gets me through the daily grind o…

Intelligence. Confidence (he had playful cockiness that I was, and still am, incredibly attracted to). Had goals and made things happen for himself. If he wanted something, he didn't compromise until he got it. Didn't take my shit i.e. he knew what he wanted in a woman and let me know clearly what his standards were. Helped me become a better person. I know people can't control this, but his parents are still very much in love and still together. Strong family values - is optimistic about being …

Are you me!? Seriously though, I haven't found any other women who I respect in the 'real world" who would relate to my dilemmas around my identity. Wanting to be a housewife seems to be suh a dirty word around other educated women. I could just imagine the unspoken judgement I would get.

Aliexpress.com (their mobile app is better on an androod phone) Can be hit and miss on sizes but it's so cheap I dont"t care! Alao if you're petiye with big boobs you have to do a bit more searching to find your size

You mentioned your body is a work in progress. I would focus on getting back to your ideal weight. I know when I am looking super fit and tight all my insecurities float away. When you feel great you won't seek external validation as much.

I love planning - I am going to set tasks and reminders ahead of time in my phone, so that I don't forget when he mentions something. Getting a bank of ideas - great advice! I hadn't thought about the way it's presented as well. I'll think about the delivery so he feels more special when I do everyday things - not just "get it done". Thanks for your ideas :)

I think I will use my phone task list to set reminders. Thanks for the advice! I typically use my task list for groceries/errands etc. Why not add in things to make his life easier too

surprising him with something without asking and him confirming makes him (and you) feel very good! This is where I want to get to - I think I just need to listen more closely and note down little things he mentions so I don't forget to follow up and get it done later when he isn't there. I haven't texted him at work for a while - I am going to implement this today!

Thanks for your thoughtful reply :) I probably am confusing my introversion with my tendency to sometimes forget about what others need. Currently I've got a fair amount going on that I'm getting caught up in (SO has started a new company, I'm helping out behind the scenes where I can around my full-time job). I do have a tendency to 'worry' but I'm proud to say I've got that under control for the most part. We're fairly time-poor right now and It hasn't really left much spare time; I've noticed…

Same goes for me, before finding RPW I had no interest in posting on Reddit as honestly I am far too busy in my ife and don't really care about 'imaginary internet points'. However, I came across this sub when I was really struggling with a big life decision and it's the first place where I feel I can learn things that will improve my real life in a tangible, direct way. So I am willing to give this sub my attention and time.

Great question! For me it has been little things adding up by logically viewing the world around me and being a realist about things. I guess some 'flashbacks' over the years that come to mind when I read your post...these were things that got me thinking, small things really... Thinking about female only gyms randomly one day, I thought to myself "if guys started a male-only gym, then females would lose their sh!t and claim discrimination." I really agree with this explanation. I feel my husband and I have complete respect for each other and that frames everything we do. My SO is also older than me, more experienced about life and this has been proved time and time again when he often understands me better than I know myself. Years of him acting in my best interests (often despite myself) mean that I trust him completely and am willing to give everything to him without fear.
