It can help. BUT, know what you're getting into. It will all come down to how good the therapist is. 1 million percent. And even then, you will need to tough it out for the first several sessions. Here's why it sucks: Your wife is already much better at speaking the 'language of therapy' than you are. An inexperienced therapist will let her talk like that that, and you'll feel excluded. Your wife will have her 'case' prepared, and will present it to the therapist using the language and jargon th…

Kinda sounds like you’re each holding a gun to your own head, acting like the kidnapper AND the hostage at the same time. One of you needs to either drop the gun, or point it at the other one, to get things moving.

If you’re in the US, and you’ve been living separate for a year, you’re basically divorced now, if either of you files. In my state, living apart for a year is the pre-req for divorcing. So much so, the separate agreement (who pays for what, how to divide assets if you include that) is basically your divorce agreement, and you just file it with the court. Has she pulled the trigger on you?

His video about women being loyal to feelings and demanding the world align with those feelings; with men being loyal to concepts (and willing to be miserable to stay loyal to a concept like duty or faithfulness), changes the way you look at every couple in your world.

Don't bother being confused. Just shake your head and tell yourself "you can't cure stupid".

Be sure to tell her that if the new guy really wants her, he’ll provide for her and want her to get out of the marriage asap giving you everything. 😄

October my wife is talking about us renewing vows Yep, renewing vows is always a red flag. It's a VOW, honey... its value comes from doing it once, then upholding it. A vow renewed is, by definition, worthless.

If you want to turn the dial to 11, tell people you caught her having an affair (getting her to admit it is the same thing). Then let her explain to family and friends that no, you didn’t catch her, she told **you** about it.

Hey, if it helps, put an event in your phone’s calendar for 6 months from now (or 12 months, or 3,000, whatever) to unblock her. When you get there, check in with yourself and see if you want to bother unblocking her. But until then, you can tell yourself she’s not permanently blocked, you’re checking it in (checks date, sees 6 months from today is Valentine’s Day) Feb **17th** 2024.

Florida’s recently passed divorce and alimony reform might just make you a happy man. Get a lawyer.

OP thought he was getting a teammate. Got a booster instead, wondering why OP isn’t cleaning the skybox and plating their food. Ouch.

The thing about getting with a cheater is… you got with a cheater. Only the absolute dumbest APs think history can’t repeat. Only the absolute dumbest cheaters think history can’t boomerang back onto them. There are a LOT of dumb people, however.

Posts like this get made when a husband realizes he’s the workhorse pulling the wagon that everyone else is using as a ride. As a minimum first step, tell your wife the hour of the day you’re leaving the building, everyday, to touch grass. Alone. You sound like you’re cooped up in that house 24/7. She needs to step up. Put a boulder in the river that she’ll have to step around. The way you’re living isn’t sustainable for your own health, brother.

If divorcing, make sure you include whatever share of your student load debt you incurred since your wedding day. She’s about to owe half of it..

An 18% chance of her killing me would be 19% too high.

The fact she’d fight it is all the more reason to “stack” it on top of everything else you’ll ask for. I forget the exact term, but there’s a negotiation term for something you toss in to put the other side off balance, and this would be it.

What’s a false police report on your record worth? I’d ask for 50K as compensation just for that, outside everything else. Garbage behavior like that deserves a hard financial slap, or it could happen again. And a written statement admitting it was false.

Because obliqueness that you can’t get away with at work (because it’s unprofessional and counter-productive), is totally acceptable at home.

Remember, she has to split the debts too. Not just the assets. Don’t let her get one without the other.

Well, and debts, don’t forget. In a divorce in most states, she’d get half the assets and half the debt. There’s a story here from a while back where the guy was a new-ish doctor, his wife cheated, they were in California. Very little in assets but he had 250k in medical school student loans. The wife has to pay 125K of his debt 😄
