Since we use the word "female" in some negative manner often, they decide to demonize the word. They do this with all language. That's what happened to 'retard' or 'retarded'. It's a medical word, but because it was used negatively enough, they decided it's a "really bad word". Since women in this country (in the west) tend to be pretty bad (entitled, etc), they have earned the reputation.
