Even among full time workers, men work 5+ hours more a week on average. So if one employee is working 45 hours a week for 10 years, and the other, equally competent employee does 40 hours a week, which would you expect to be paid higher hourly wages? If they try to bend that curve by making pay and raises match then it incentivizes men to work less, and the men would have a strong case to sue the company on discrimination grounds. While ideal in a vacuum and something I would agree with, the states job is to avoid paying for the child’s welfare unless absolutely necessary. It’s pretty simple. In a democracy, you vote for elected officials. These officials decide how the country reacts and conducts itself. If a certain half of the country isnt subject to a draft, they aren’t the ones with “skin in the game” if those elected officials turn out to be warmongers. Personally would rather have no draft, but its existence implies that only one gender will have to die (unless you’re Hillary who thinks women have always been the primary victims of war)

In almost all cases, getting pregnant is choice people make. Getting forced into conscription with harsh punishments for not doing so is not the same. Imagine if the government fined women 200K and barred them from government jobs if they didn’t have children. It stated out well meaning imo, but then it quickly became a witch hunt, where unsupported claims cost men their careers. This is sort of like the US right? We are all required to register under extremely harsh lifetime penalties and possible jail time, for a possible “needs based conscription” in the future. You really have to wonder if men will actually do it this time if a war breaks out - “Go die in another place so we can have gas for our Mercedes and rare minerals for our phones, creep. Exactly. This is a fundamental issue and one of the reasons I am skeptical men will ever have as many programs and government benefits. Women are on average tax negative over their lifetimes (IE government pays more in services and benefits than they receive in tax) and men are tax positive. It would be catastrophic for them to let men have as many privileges as women do. So, we’re sent to the mines and told it’s our fault when we don’t engage.

Also in tech, hiring isn’t really an issue at the firms I’ve worked, but there is a lot of resistance to putting a low performer who is a woman on a PIP vs a man. They’re using maternal mortality of black mothers as a way to extend the disparities of medicine to include (white) women. Almost all of their examples were differences among race, not gender. So while I absolutely agree there’s a double standard here - medically necessary means something different in the healthcare world. If something is deemed not medically necessary, then almost all insurance wouldn’t cover it. That criteria just means here’s the conditions that we consider enough for insurance to cover circumcision costs. I don’t think anyone is being explicitly forced here by their doctors. I’d disagree. I think what your describing is spill over from feminism. Consider how male transgender (M-F) and female transgender (F-M) are treated in society. Male trans are seen as others to much of women. For examples, see Lia Thomas or the TERF movement. On the other hand, men are much more welcoming to FTM people.
