It sounds like your own ego is the reason you don't socialize much.

I wish you, a representative for MRM, would take yourself more seriously.

Patriarchy theory is used either to suggest that male suffering is less that female suffering, or to say that men caused both sexes suffering. Even if feminists don't explicitly say those things that is always the implication. That makes a lot of sense. Don't many feminists believe that Patriarchy is simply the fact that men were in power whereas women take the back seat? This viewpoint doesn't necessarily mean that men were 'at fault'. It just means that there is an institution where expectatio…

You write well, however you're just being mean to someone who is curious about the subject. Anyways, thanks for your comments. You've taught me quite a bit about MRM.

Let's have a discussion please. I provided instant and clear proof that what the guy above me said was absolutely not true. I was just making the point that feminism is marginalized in the same way that MRM is marginalized. We should take the best of both movements and realize that they're not at odds with each other.

I can't yet justify this difference between the MRM and feminist members. Many on here claim that most all MRM members are completely ethical whereas feminism is bankrupt. I haven't seen the case made yet. Everything that you say about feminism can also be said about MRM, no?

Why don't you devote your words supporting the battle against prostate and testicular cancer? That would be infinitely more productive than having a hissy fit over an eye roll. I was just trying to get to the bottom of things. I'm not worried about being productive (here) other than towards my own personal understanding. I've learned a lot about this whole conversation, and I appreciate all of the comments. You've expended a lot of words to "instruct" a lot of people about why they are wrong. My…

I would challenge you to provide an example of a 'hateful MRM member' - I've never come across one. Also, there is no-one in the MRM who uses it as a platform for hate. personal anecdote and no true scotsman. I could find a MRM who is hateful, yet you would say that that hate is not actually what MRM is. Really, we're just stating opinions to each other without backing it up with proof. I'd rather act with the attitude of taking the best of both the feminist movement and MRM without demonizing t…

Oh. I see now. Thanks for that. It seems like the original author was oblivious to this. I didn't know no shave November was about prostate cancer until recently, maybe she didn't know either and thought it was just a thing. Reading it again, it really seems like this is the case actually. Regardless, this is a very small issue, yet it is evidenced that many many people got really upset over this. So I feel somewhat persuaded from my original position. It still looks completely benign to me as a…

That's an interesting point. So in effect, the author is whining about something really small? Rather than reacting like big brother stole our toy, we could be the bigger men rather than being petty.

Nowhere in her article did it say it was for prostate cancer. Okay. Does it have to? The whole point of the article was to bring awareness that women shouldn't shave because men aren't. Yes. Otherwise if it was just because she wanted to she wouldn't post about it like she is on twitter. Right. So I am still of the opinion that she is not trying to detract from prostate cancer awareness nor would she be succeeding. Your comment didn't really say anything to the contrary. You just reaffirmed that…

Oh. Well there was no mention of that in her article. Perhaps you are mistaken and she isn't trying to detract from prostate cancer?

Sincerely sorry, I'm having a really hard time seeing what's wrong here. There's some injustice that everyone else sees that I'm not.

I see. That makes sense. It isn't really a big deal either way. However, the article provides quite a large resistance - to a girl - who is writing about not shaving her legs because she thinks society has high standards for her. So it isn't a big deal, and she's not doing a whole lot wrong, if anything at all. Maybe her enthusiasm could be directed in a different effort, but who are we to decide that? The article goes on to heavily criticize her for her incredibly small mistake. We're encourage…

She is not shaving to raise awareness for prostate cancer but because men can do it and she wants to too. Great! Why not. Prostate cancer awareness is awesome. She couldn't get a flying crap why men do this because she believes it is just an excuse to grow hair. Apparently, she wants to grow her hair out to make a statement on societal pressure for looks/gender roles.

I can't tell what you're saying is sarcastic and what's not. Why is it insensitive to not shave to make a point? What's the big deal here? That seems like a big expectation to want a monopoly on progressive social movements. Was the point of the article really just to point out how this girl is super selfish? This seems childish to me.

So you say MRM is this: the political goal of men gaining equal rights and protection under the law. The wikipedia definition for feminism is eerily similar: Feminism is a collection of movements and ideologies aimed at defining, establishing, and defending equal political, economic, and social rights for women. I don't see the distinction between a gender group working through men's rights and issues, and another gender group working through women's rights and issues. You criticize the Patriarc…

That's exactly these women's attitude. They think MRM is an evil religion, and they could be just as right as you if they picked some really hateful MRM members and took them to represent everyone. Feminism is a women's rights group, and they are split such that most are logical and for everyone's rights, just like you or I. There are many, however, who use it as a platform for hate, just as in the MRM.

If you want feminism to remain as a movement for equality, you seriously might want to reconsider your anti-male stances. Nooooo! This is exactly what the picketing women's problem was. They made this assumption that MRM are anti-women and acted on it in a very foolish way. Why make that ultimatum towards a rights group that these women offenders aren't really even a part of when that's exactly what happened to you and the Men's rights movement? Other than that, it's a good article.

This is so strange. This article tries to villify this girl who feels violated by one of society's expectation. How has what she's said taken away from anything ever? It can still be men's prostate month. She's not stopping you. You are not a victim here.

You say this: Feminism is not... marginalized like how this woman claims yet two comments above you: Fuck feminism Rights movements are being marginalized all the time. This woman is doing so because she is incredibly scared and has become hateful. Sadly, she doesn't realize that (and I agree with you that) she's marginalizing the MRM in the same way that others marginalize feminists. Hopefully in /r/mensrights, we can realize that we can fight for the rights of both men and women at the same ti…

Whatever made you say, "Fuck feminism" also made these women say, "Fuck MRM". Both gender groups have a legitimate arm and a hateful arm. In the same way that these women need to learn that men have issues and they should not belittle the MRM, then we too should not broadly condemn women's rights groups.

This is not a nice infograph. Some of these statistics are completely misleading. Some are alright, but why would you want a wall of information, some of which is wrong? Let's find some actual statistics and put it into a more mature and less emotional context.

I remember seeing her videos before and I really liked them. I liked this one as well. I suppose I can agree that most feminist organizations have at least some component of misandry. I kind of want to bring this up. This thread was started by me based on this comment and discussion. I had a back and forth with a r/mensrights hater. I mean, what do you say in response to people such as SisterRayVU? It seems like the logic we would apply in being anti-feminist, we would have to apply the same ste…

In my previous comment, I was trying to point out that many feminists who do not blame men and are actually fighting for equality have the same concept about the Men's Rights Movement as you do about feminism. They say the same thing about the aggressor, the misandry (misogyny), fighting to keep the other gender down, etc. It's crazy how much you sound like one of them. I guess what I'm trying to say is that there really is no narrative that men are the cause of all women's problems in feminism.…

Antifeminists among us (like me) would prefer you not to associate yourself with a misandrist ideology People who are against the MRM would say the exact same thing- that it's misogynist. And then the typical feminist response is to assert that their movement is for: Remember though, we fight for paternal rights, judicial rights, and to end legal discrimination against men first and foremost. except women instead of men. So each side is trying to label the other side as bigots, when really both …

This whole subreddit teaches you to just duck your head and power through things. It's successful, but that success only really lasts for a little while. It's unsustainable. It's like those motivational speakers who tell you, "Be who you want to be right now. Don't think about it, don't doubt yourself, just do it." There's bullshit in 'The Secret' with the whole Law of Attraction where you get everything if you just act like you deserve it. In America, we especially tout our meritocracy and blin…

the guy getting punched out may have thought to himself "holy shit, maybe I'm being a dick here...this is your stuff take it and we'll have a beer later." I see what you're saying, but instead of people overreacting to a violent situation against a woman, maybe society's problem is that it's so accepting of violence towards men. I'm of the opinion that any violence is extremely reprehensible, and if I ever got punched in a bar, I'd make sure they got prosecuted regardless of stature or gender. I…

If it's a numbers game, then it would make sense to raise awareness in the pertinent groups which results in less rapes. Sure, the man isn't always the rapist, but most oftentimes it is. Right? Am I missing something?

I've been reading some of their posts, and I've had a back and forth with someone from SRS. That's all they do, is try to elicit long responses in threads about race and gender. They're very good at it, and I'd say that it's the most effective way to troll because it's so damn subtle and seems sincere.

I used to defend /r/mensrights fervently, but this whole post and its comments are just here to get everyone worked up into an extremely defensive mode. The conversations happening here aren't eye opening, nor are they really making any point that has a productive direction to it. It's like everyone's sticking their heads in the sand and will only defend their own plots. It's the same exact problem that passionate feminists have. I wish I had some good advice, but I don't.

This isn't really making a solid point. Can anyone articulate what point that this exactly makes? Who is this attacking? Is there an agenda, and to what end is it working towards? Compare this (I don't know if I can even call it an) argument to posters of abortion where they say, "The baby has a heartbeat at three months" or what have you. It completely sidesteps the real discussion to be had. It doesn't say anything on its own, and it completely ignores arguments about abortion that are tried a…
