Fair enough. I shouldn't have reacted nearly as strongly as I did. Cowardly was certainly a terrible word to use, given the circumstances that they were facing. I would not recommend any male get into teaching. My teaching mom tells the same to people. Telling people. I recommend you do not go into teaching. Is actually discouraging people from teaching, at least as far as I understand English, and what the words "Discourage", "teaching" , and "recommend" actually mean. Warning people away from ALL teaching because of a personal experience is selfish. Period. The rest of it, your family sounds like outstanding, admirable, individuals, but discouraging teachers is unnacceptable, no matter the circumstances.

Why are people ALWAYS looking to get enraged and miss the point made because it was made poorly? Why are people ALWAYS making really terrible comparisons and inviting misunderstanding, then blaming other people for 'purposely' misunderstanding them?
