I'm not saying any criticisms of women are automatically sexist. But if your problem is with marriage, keep it to marriage and leave gender out of it. Fuck.

Okay. Sure. Yes, women can ruin lives, take kids, money, and assets. But so can men. Yes, the laws regarding marriage should be overhauled. What I have against what you're saying is that women have nothing to offer men. There should be no expected roles for men. You're right. But you're trying to shoehorn women into expected roles as well. Should every relationship involve equal work? Yes. But you're arguing for no reason. I said we should teach what a healthy relationship is, so that when men m…

Using basic cost/benefit reasonings, women provide the same things that friends, family, or pets can. In fact, that's the entire fucking point. You're the negative side of the MRM. I have no more time for someone like you.

"The only thing that women can offer is sex and kids" is exactly the idea that makes MRA look stupid, you sound like a crazy feminist. If you're so pessimistic, maybe you shouldn't be in a relationship, but the problem with marriage is societal teaching of what a relationship is. It has nothing to do with the law or genders. Edit: Not just that, but you're literally trivializing the entirety of the human race. If women have only kids and sex to offer men, then what about men? You're saying that …

I can't agree more. Too many people, on both sides of the fence, don't know how they and their partner are supposed to act and treat each other in a relationship. Obviously, it's not really any single person's fault - it's learned behavior. We, as a society, really need to find a way to teach people what proper expectations should be. But that's too long term of a goal to be immediately viable. For now, I'm just glad all of these issues are being brought to light at all.

Marriage is a great way to save money if you are actually in a healthy, long term survivable relationship. Sounds like you weren't in a healthy relationship.

I don't think that not getting married is, in itself, sound advice. Marriage is a great way to save money if you are actually in a healthy, long-term survivable relationship. It has great tax and legal benefits. That being said, there definitely needs to be a cultural revolution in terms of what makes a relationship healthy.

I feel like you're being confrontational just to be confrontational. I never said the comic applies directly, just that most people who it makes angry probably have experienced the situation first hand from the other side, and feel this comic is incorrectly representing the issue, which is true. I agree completely that this comic does not represent the issue truthfully

I never said I know you. Of course the article making generalized statements is upsetting, it should be. But I've seen the same situation from all 4 sides: Partners who don't do work, as the one who doesn't pull his own load, as the one who pulls most of the load, and then I finally found someone that I share equal work with. I already said I agree the author made an unsuccessful attempt to drive her point. There is a point in it, but because of the gender specific language used, most of the cor…

You're making this an argument about something completely unrelated to what I said. I was making a grammatical suggestion on how to phrase yourself in the future. To quote you, But there is a thing called the quality of life. People in Finland have it but people in Somalia don't on average. There is even academic research done about why this is so. Which frames the term "quality of life" as a quality that someone has or doesn't. The phrase could have been better worded to say that Finland has a …

I agree, it's a personal account taken and applied as a whole to the stereotypical, society-pushed idea of "what a household looks like." If you don't feel the article is talking about you, then, more than likely, it isn't. If the article makes you angry, then you're probably on the side she's talking from, without realizing it. It's an anecdote, and I agree the article does not handle the entire issue successfully. But there are many facets to every issue, nothing is black and white, and everyt…

I never said anything about women's quality of life over men's. Just that, for future clarity purposes if you want to make a stronger argument, be sure to refer to quality of life as a scale, not a quality in and of itself. I want you to succeed with your points.

Just a note for debate purposes, everyone has "a quality of life." Quality of life is a scale, and it would help suit your purposes to provide examples and compare the relative qualities of life, than simply saying "Worse off."

You raise good points, but that also means this article isn't aimed at you. I think we can all agree that there are relationships where the workload is unequal - this is a story that takes it from the female perspective. I was in a relationship where I did most of the work. I was cooking, cleaning the dishes, doing all of the laundry, usually daily. She would vacuum the apartment once every other week or so, and call it a day. I often had very little time for "me" things, while she binged Netfli…
