Yeah. I don't get it at all and I'm not even white.

So much for 'not interested in debating'. I never said all convicts were guilty, but that's not relevant to the matter at hand.

Dunno why you're getting downvoted. Check the sub's mission statement https://www.reddit.com/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates/wiki/missionstatement I think you'll find the "How do we differ from right-wing anti-feminists?" section quite helpful!

What do you mean? I thought I was pretty consistent in my reasoning. a) If you feel the urge to stab somebody, that's not your fault. b) If you choose to stab somebody, that's your fault. c) If you have a knife in your hand and you're unable to prevent yourself from stabbing somebody because you couldn't control your impulses, then at a first glance, that could be understandable. ...But then why was the knife in your hand in the first place? You chose to pick that up. You can argue 'I couldn't c…

That's not my idea of justice. It's not because of their 'genetic predispositions'. If someone in your family has a mental issue (e.g. they have voices in their head telling them to do things), you're 'genetically predisposed' for it, but that doesn't necessarily mean you'd have them too. At all. And even if you do have those, that doesn't mean you'd act on them! The people I'm talking about here are the ones who act on said thoughts. Let's please not conflate a mentally ill person with a mental…

So let me get this streight you think those people are sick and you wish rape on sick people? You must have terrible reading comprehension skills if that's what you got from my text above. With a message that long, I thought I was crystal clear with what I said, which is not what you think I did.

It's not entirely left-wing I guess. I do believe in rehabilitation for people who have committed crimes due to external circumstances though. That's pretty left-wing. ...Still, one doesn't rape others because they lost their jobs or got their car robbed lol.

The way I see it... nah, I don't think prison really works as a punishment. I see a few problems with it: Oftentimes there's recidivism, so it's not really all that good at fixing perps. Jail isn't satisfying to the families of victims, so it's not really all that good at punishing them either. And the current prison system lumps 'people who were dealt a bad hand in life' and 'monsters' in together with the same type of punishment. If I'm having several bad days one after the other, then I get i…

Dunno if that'd get me banned or something, but a rapist, whether they're a man or a woman, deserves everything that happens to them. They're scum and if they get mistreated in jail, GOOD. You're right about the double standard though: It's disturbing how male victims are seen as comedy material.

Did you not watch the movie? The way they portrayed the real world in the movie is a clear parallel to how the movie writers think the actual real world is.

Honestly, it was pretty uncomfortable watching it with my 10-year-old sister. I hope it doesn't give her any ideas.

It might be worth telling him the USA are pretty much the only Western country still circumcising people. I'm uncircumcised (also not American), and while, out of these points, the first one might hold some merit, it's really no reason to mutilate your genitalia. I'm not gonna try to prove his points wrong as you said you yourself showed him evidence of it, so maybe a little thought experiment could be neat: I wonder what he'd think about removing all of someone's nails and making sure they neve…

I see, that makes a lot of sense - I don't like 'toxic masculinity' either. Don't delete the thread, though; the term's offensive when you're using it on people and claiming they've got internalized misandry, not when just discussing the term or something lol. You're good

I don't really know the answers to most of those questions; this is my first time hearing about the term. Though, my kneejerk reaction was that it's a pretty yikes and mildly offensive term, just like 'internalized misogyny'. Feel free to educate me though.

I've been here for a while. Gimme approval please. Also, to be honest, I don't think this is the way to go. Making new people have to get approval before posting will just end up making it so some well-meaning newbies get driven away from the sub or something. Lots of subs have a simple system where it's karma and account creation time based; if the account is old enough and has enough karma, then you can post. I get that this method I'm talking about isn't foolproof - some trolls will still hav…

As a Latino, I can confirm. I'm upset. Latino, when used in English, is short for "Latinoamerica", so there's no reason at all for it to vary with gender. Plus, the neutral gender in both Portuguese and Spanish is the same as the masculine gender, so even if it were a gendered word, you'd still use "Latino" to refer to a group men and women and people in-between.

Why do you bother asking if you're just going to answer to every reply you get with a stupid, silly strawman that starts with "Ok, so..."? Seriously; you're clearly not even considering the points people here are raising.

There's a very clear difference between letting people speak *what* they want, and letting people speak *the way* they want. That was pretty silly. "Seems likely" literally means the same thing as maybe/probably, and "I hope" would change the meaning of the sentence completely, so there's no reason for them to change his sentence _at all_
/r/PussyPassDenied08/04/20 05:19 AM

I didn't say anything about the way they spoke, though. You're being silly. Also yeah, because in order to give good advice, you need to be following said advice yourself. By your logic, since you're pointing that I wasn't minding my own business, you're not minding yours either, therefore, you should shut up too and no one shall ever comment about that subject. That's like saying that in order for me to dislike someone's food, I have to be a chef myself. I'm sure you don't need me to tell you h…
