There's also an element of "women are pure, men are filthy" and seeing the women who engage in sex work / adult entertainment as "polluted" women. And yeah, those "polluted" women are then temptresses who sway upstanding men, etc., etc. There is often a duality - "Madonna/Whore" in the traditional conservative purity culture.

It's not about your own personal penis. It's about making that choice for someone else. Taking away their bodily autonomy.

i dont think so. its a clear pun on pro-choice rhetoric, 'my body, my choice'. it cant really be construed in any other way. It sounds, to me, like a rape threat. The fact that it's based on "my body, my choice" doesn't make it sound any less of a rape threat to me. "My body, my choice" is, yes, about being pro-choice, but it is also a general statement of a belief in bodily autonomy. Turning it to "your body, my choice" is also a general statement, in this case of a lack of respect for someone …

It's hard to say it's not true. We all think our thing is the most important. If only they listened to us it would have all been fine. But in all honesty the "General feelings of economic malaise leading to dissatisfaction with whoever the incumbent is" (which lead to the UK going left rather than right because the Tories were in control) and "an unimaginably toxic information environment that's been hijacked by oligarchs to promote fascism to allow them to siphon off even more of the workers' m…

There is a "Manosphere" in the same sense that there is a "Womanosphere" that that includes feminists, but also the women who advocate for women being submissive to their husbands in a traditional Christian marriage.

He knows that women have been most affected by the recent Supreme Court and State anti-abortion and anti-reproductive freedom shenanigans. Even women in traditionally Republican strongholds are angry and afraid. The fact of the matter is, men's issues are not vote winners.

I mean, it could be the entire opposite, where there's no need to investigate in an HR sense as the police investigation has done their work for them. An additional HR investiagion would in that case only be necessary if she hadn't been convicted, at which point they'd have to determine if she'd done enough to be fired, even if she hadn't done enough to be convicted.

Forgiveness very often isn't about the offender, it's about letting go of the hate. This could be one of those times. And forgiving someone isn't the same as saying they shouldn't face justice, or punishment.

While I'd not say it's 100% that, there is definitely a strong element in there. A great many people are bitter, unfortunately, sometimes with justification, sometimes not, and that comes out. And yeah, I think there are people who are out to recruit for the right wing.

One thing I'm curious about: I read somewhere (and cannot find the reference) that although African-American men make up 5% of University students, they make up 50% of those accused of sexual misconduct in hearings like this. They had that supermajority very briefly, about 70 days, and used that to pass the Affordable Care Act. There was a lot to do, and not a lot of time to do it. And even with that 60/40 "supermajority" they may have not had the votes, given there are anti-abortion Democrats.

Incel / Virgin shaming is also promoting rape culture, as if we shame men for not having sex, presumably the only way they can avoid shaming is to have sex, no matter what? Edit: Apparently I was unclear: some people think I am claiming virgins/incels are the ones raping. I'm pointing out that the act of virgin shaming promotes the idea that men should logically have sex by whatever means. In other words their use of virgin shaming would promote rape culture. From the article: Those fleeing are mostly women and children, as all Ukrainian men aged 18 to 60 are being told to stay and fight - in some cases separated from their families. The men - and women - who cause wars, aren't the ones who are forced to fight and die in them. It's fascinating how intersectionality just magically vanishes once we talk about "men". Women in positions of power start wars as often - and apparently even more often, if you check the historical stats - as men. So it's not "men" it's "people in power" starting wars. And men - poor men - being killed. What you are doing here is attempting to divert attention away from men being killed, and men being…

If they wanted to reduce the number of abortions, they would improve sex education in schools, improve access to contraception and general women's health, and enact general anti-poverty measures. That is the way to do that. The fact that they aren't doing that implies very strongly that this is nothing to do with reducing the number of abortions.

Q for queer, which I was always raised to think was an offensive slur for gay people, but now apparently means something else Like a lot of marginalised groups, insults are often reclaimed, and reformed into something to be proud of. In this case, "Queer" has become an umbrella term, often used for people who don't feel they quite fit any other lable, but definitely aren't straight.

It's because the insult is that the man isn't holding up the patriarchal standard that all men are "supposed" to uphold. So feminists insulting men for, say, living in their mother's basement means that they, the feminists, think men should all be financially independant, which is a patriarchal standard.

Part of the problem, in my opinion, is that there is a core group of people who really, really hate Group X. Perhaps because they had bad experiences, perhaps they're just hateful, or perhaps because they'd rather blame group X for everything that's wrong with their life, then actually admit that they themselves have faults. And in 99% of life, you can't spew hatred of group X. Even actual reasonable criticism can be shouted down a lot. So the straight-up anti-X-ist people don't have anywhere th…

I would accept this as an argument if that's what the people who go on about the pay gap started with. But actually it seems that we only get to societal pressure when it's pointed out that the gap is not down to in-work discrimination, it's down to choices that men and women make. I also find that if we talk about the fact that men work longer hours, commute more, and make up the vast majority of work-related deaths and work-related illnesses, we don't get to talk about societal pressures, it's…

I think the point that needs to be emphasised is the lack of choice. The particular person you are talking to may be fine with their circumcision, but the point is they didn't have a choice. If we ban infant circumcision, than anyone who gets to the age of 18 and wants it done can. If someone gets to 18 and wishes they hadn't been circumcised, well tough. Your choice got taken away from you.

I didn't need to have a black child to become aware of the struggles of black people. So why do so many women need to have a son to become aware of the struggles of men? Because your experiences aren't universal. Just because something is obvious to you, doesn't mean it's obvious to everyone. There are no doubt things that this mother knows, and thinks are entirely obvious, that you're oblivious to. It's the human condition.

While racists may attack Islam and it's adherents, Muslims, I don't see that as what makes them racist. No, not at all. But people who are racist in other ways also attack Islam and Muslims. But you seem to have drunk the Kool-aid. Assuming that someone can only disagree with you because they're a member of a cult is incredibly lazy thinking. Trump did about eighteen zillion things that demonstrated his lack of temperament for office. And none of them worked, for some reason. I see no particular reason to pick one over any of the others. But to be clear, when he's insulting Mexicans, he's insulting a small number of the population of the US. When he insults women, he's insulting 50%…

However, there is a question of whether the particular gender roles in our society need to be as they are. Do you think the gender role of being circumcised as an infant is okay? The gender roles of men dying from suicide 3-4x as often as women? The prison sentencing gap? And so forth, and so forth. Nobody's drafting anyone for anything. There is not currently a draft in the US. There's the potential for one, but no reason to actually push the button. So there's no reason for women not to register just as men have to. And as has been pointed out, draftees can go to non-combat roles.

Do you have a link to a specific statement as to the reasons behind the bannings? Because part of the problem seems to be that people aren't sure what specifically caused subreddit A to be banned and not subreddit B. I've had a quick look around I can't see anything. The worry is that if they can arbitrarily ban fatpeoplehate they can arbitrarily ban other subreddits. The MRM is often dismissed out of hand as being a hate group, so some users are feeling vulnerable. It's unclear at the moment (and that's part of the problem) whether the attitude should be "FPH harassed people and got banned, we don't harass, we're fine" or "When they came for FPH I did not speak out..."

There's also the fact that for someone who is raped, having people disbelieve you must be incredibly awful. There is a TV series in the UK called Silent Witness which tried to deal with this topic. They showed one episode of a two part serial and the rest of the series was cancelled. Do you have more information on that? I've had a quick search, but can't find much - do you have the name of the episode?

Until all domestic violence posters are neutral, it is okay and useful to have separate posters that redress the imbalance.

Of course not, but as far as i know those women were in no immediate danger and this dude escalated the situation to the point where he placed himself in harms way. "The male victim took offense to something that the guys were saying to the girls and said 'hey, watch what you're saying,'" said Philadelphia Police Captain George Fuchs. If you feel the need to knock someone out who said "Hey, watch what you're saying" to you, you need to be in a cage somewhere.

The fact of the matter is, if you're going to be a martial artist, you need to learn how to be hit. If these women are coming into a class without knowing that, and without experiencing it, then their previous trainers have failed them. Nothing's stopping these men's FREE SPEECH of declaring "THIS WOMAN CHEATED ON ME" loudly on whatever social medium or forum. But posting intimate photos or nudes is crass, and takes something that was private and makes it public. Also, posting them doesn't in any "reveal to the world the hatefulness and immorality of previous partners". All it reveals is that they, at one point, had pictures or videos taken. I've seen an article (and I apologise for not being to find it) where an IT office decided to remove all demographic-identifying information from resumes before deciding who to interview. They were surprised by how different the people they called for interview were. There's nothing wrong with realising we have these unconscious biases and trying to work around them. It must be said, though, that if you look around your office and everyone is largely, say, white, male and in their 20's-30's, then your recruitment policies are probably flawed. Sure, it seems from the studies that racial and gender diversity isn't valuable in and of itself, but if you're lacking in racial and gender diversity, the odds are the way you recruit people also leads to lacks in diversity of talent and experience. You're probably hiring people who don't just look like you, but think …

Not so... Paternity Leave Maternity Leave You get 1 or 2 weeks of Ordinary Paternity Leave, and can get up 26 weeks of Additional Paternity Leave if the mother returns to work. Looks like you can use your partner's unused Ordinary Maternity Leave. Women meanwhile get 26 weeks Ordinary Maternity Leave, and 26 weeks of Additional Maternity Leave.

You can see why people might be worried about hiring a woman for a job, rather than a man, given the disparity between maternity leave and paternity leave. I'm not sure what - if anything - can be done about small companies and the costs of parental leave, but they should be equalised for men and women, in my opinion.

If I sit on a jury, I plan on stating "not guilty" unless actual evidence is brought forth, not just the plaintiff's word over the defendant. Unanimous verdicts be damned, and coddling the plaintiff be damned. Which is not what you said: This is why jury nullification is a good thing, and why I will always vote to acquit men accused of rape --I no longer believe the accuser 'never lies' about rape. It's because this idea is exactly the kind of thing someone who hated women would do. I mean, do you think the people who are assuming a person is guilty given just an accusation are doing it because they hate men? Or could it be that they are trying to enact change? False accusations are still rarer than genuine rape cases, so by definition /u/Frankly_George is going to release rapists rather more than punish false accusers. So yeah, "hating women" is an entirely logical conclusion to come to.

BTW, why is the accuser's name not public? This is ridiculous. At this stage, there's nothing to say her accusation was false, just that the accused's right to due process has been violated. Agreed. Men shouldn't be 'keeping' women 'barefoot and pregnant', or indeed, keeping them anything. Women are great big adults who can make their own decisions. That article is rooted in notions of male dominance when life is so much more fun when we go forwards as equals. That article has nothing to do with Men's Rights.
