Do something proven like GZCLP or 531 - don’t follow your own program. Consistency is the key thing, keep at it and you’ll see great results in a year

Good post! Unfortunately it’s something everyone will go through at some point, but you learn some strong and valuable lessons. Don’t be too hard on yourself if you fuck up, it’s good experience for next time.

You’re hardly under an authoritarian government if you’ve been living normally since last summer. That’s my point - life is basically back to normal now so to keep saying “the government are controlling us” sounds childish

There’s a weird undercurrent of Covid denial in this forum sometimes. We get that lockdown isn’t ideal but it’s hardly a worldwide conspiracy to reduce male testosterone levels.

Much respect for doing such a difficult job. Keep pressing though mate, lifting definitely helps keep you on the right track

Anyone got a good 3 day Full Body routine? Gyms just opened again in the UK, I’ve decided that Full Body is worth a try to get me back in the groove

This disaster porn is a bit silly, the UK is nowhere near as divided as America. Our race issues aren’t so bad. Most people are relatively centrist and mild when it comes to politics. There are plenty of worse places to live than the UK (ignoring COVID for a second)

Good post - thanks. Any recommendations for good books / autobiographies?

Chill out mate, I’m just saying that 5x5 or a powerlifting program where you’re resting 5 minutes before trying to hit a 1 rep max isn’t optimal for a newbie. They’ll have the recovery ability to go high volume at the beginning.

I’m saying don’t bother doing starting strength or 5/3/1 if you’ve never exercised before in your life. Just go and set some foundations. This article explains it better: http://mythicalstrength.blogspot.com/2020/08/on-bro-splits.html?m=1

I don’t agree that a complete newbie should do a strength routine. They should just lift as much as possible, completely high volume, have as much fun as possible and go nuts every session. You’ll grow like crazy. Leave all the strength programs like 5/3/1 for years down the line. Beginners need more volume and don’t need the structure of a strength program

It’s just part of life man. Count yourself lucky that you recognise this stuff for what it is, and use this pain as a growth opportunity. Don’t wallow for too long, get back on the horse

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
