Born atheist in an atheist family, in a mostly atheist state (religion has lost its fangs in europe since long ago). Never was confronted to it, when thinking about it was mostly focused on the notion of God and thought it was stupid idea (how can you believe in a specific god). Now I think God is not that central to religion, and that religion was a cookbook for civilisations that might have been simply the result of natural selection applied to thoughts and their effects on... societal groups …

Here's a recent article about a decentralized github http://blog.printf.net/articles/2015/05/29/announcing-gittorrent-a-decentralized-github/ (with the corresponding github -yeah- repo: https://github.com/cjb/GitTorrent/blob/master/README.md ) I think this topic already surfaced recently, and I discovered this article then (maybe from here?).

I don't know about you but what I took from this video is that apparently the reliable indicator is the man, and especially how fast he reacts badly to bad behavior from the wife (and not how he responds "nicely" to bad behavior from the wife or how he responds anyhow to good behavior from the wife). In other words, it's basically when the husband doesn't take shit from the wife (and probably when the wife has no better option), it's when the husband is able to set the limits that there is no di…

You talk too much. And you even choose the wrong people to talk to. Go listen to a surgeon before dreaming loudly here without filter, ugly duckling. You might not be "an aspie" like everyone else here, but you sure like to talk to everyone.

Use your best judgement man, but I must point out to you that you didn't mention any of the "medication" stuff in your previous post (how can you expect feedback without relevant information?), and simultaneously I still don't see anything particulary crazy in the (lack of) information you gave. It's fine to seek counseling and talk shit out of your system so you stabilize your mood, and subsequently WHEN YOU ARE STABLE reflect alone. Everything I'm saying, and what you'll hear from a shrink, yo…

Making mistakes is fine, but there's two gotcha as far as I can see: you need to reflect on your mistakes, and learn from them. That's the only way mistakes (can) end positive. you need to be able to sustain their cost when they are made. Imho this is what should be learned with the "do not care about outcome" abundance mentality discussions. Consider what you are losing when you are trying to chase after girls, for it can be nothing much, or a lot. It's not easy to do, but try to perform gain/c…

Yeah, I don't buy his shit either. His piece smells manipulation big time. I agree with the bottom line that the pill had a big role. But that's it. The author fails at logic many places elsewhere. First, there is no need whatsoever to attempt to discredit evolutionary psychology (efficiently or not), because the bottom line is about the pill, a RECENT change. So there's no link to evolution in the argument to begin with. Of course we did not evolve in that time frame, it goes beyond saying, doe…

My brother has ADHD and it was diagnosed very late (in his twenties). It was a source of frustration for my (now deceased) father, so my brother was beaten quite a lot when he was a child, because of bad school results (and shitty father). Before being diagnosed, and I guess because of family issues (divorce, fight for who gets the kid), my brother drowned in bad life, took drugs of all sorts, had problems with police etc... Now he's building strong, it has been several years, and he ingested va…

How is this meta? It's a bit boring to see any shitpost being quoted here "lookie those random people say bad stuff about us", but I must say this article had generally interesting things in it. Even though eigenmorality might be a misnomer (eigentrust would be more adequate - "trustworthy people tend to reciprocate"), the idea that (software) tools can be made to reduce the circle jerking "power" (google filters circle jerk-linking more or less effectively) in discussion spaces is interesting. …

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
