I’m not going to defend TRP (I agree that it seems mostly like complaining, rather than acting), but have you ever swore or winced or complained during a hard workout? Complaining and active self-improvement are not mutually exclusive.

All a woman has to do is be thin, a state with requires ZERO effort (literally can be accomplished entirely with portion control). No exercise required. Nothing beyond a woman’s control. Men have to be a healthy weight (which is a good thing to be!), meaning not too thin or too large, and preferably need muscles which can only be gained by substantial, long-term effort. A man cannot be too short, and is massively penalised for something he literally had no control over. I like being in shape, an…

I have never met a woman in my life, progressive or conservative, who would support any organised effort aimed at expressly benefitting men. I don’t expect I ever will. In my highly competitive field women make up a majority of successful candidates, making up some 60% of the profession, and yet are still given preferential treatment (a self-reinforcing process). If we were to restrict data to younger members, let’s say under 40, I suspect the ratio of women to men would be even higher….70% or m…

That’s because you’re around 6ft. If you knew what dating was like at 5’8” or below you’d change your tune…

I grew up in a short part of the world and was broadly “normal” sized. I then moved to a tall part of the world where I’m tiny. It’s awful. Do not recommend. (Neither do I recommend becoming RoboCop or any other “body augmentation”)

Capitalists care a lot less about raw profit than you might think. Fundamentally they are no different from previous elites. What matters more than anything is group inclusion. It is better to have 10 million dollars and be welcome in high society than to have 15 million and be a pariah (or even questionable). Corporations are run by individuals, conscious of their individual place in elite social circles. At the end of the day it’s really not so different from the 18th century. The elite were a…

Exactly. The fact that 1 in 6 admit it is STAGGERING.

I, too, never saw the Rise of Skywalker, and I never plan on watching it. TLJ killed (literally and figuratively) my favourite character. I was always imagining myself as Luke; a young, backwater kid dreaming of a bigger world. To be treated as he was in TLJ is simply unforgivable.

I don’t see how you could write this without starting with Gamergate. Gamers took the first wave, and we were quickly overrun.

How old are you? It sounds like you’re VERY young. All I can say is keep doing what you’re doing: be brave and chart your own path. There are a million ways to be a good “man”, and you’ll find one (or several). There have been studies on physical affection among chimpanzees which found that successful alpha males tend to be much more affectionate than the median male chimp. Part of “being a man” (or just being an adult, really) is taking care of others. It can be subtle, but is a critical part o…

The vast majority of males (90%?) spend significant periods of their life as “incels”. We don’t need to do anything for “them”, because they are us. Nothing we can do, because human mating patterns seem relatively hard coded (and are in line with patterns in other great apes). Just tell men to take responsibility for themselves and don’t give up. Not much more to it, sadly.

This is an interesting thought, but I’m not sure it maps. The problem is that most people, feminist or not, don’t recognise misandry at all. In any circumstance. The leap to “systemic” is not even in the same solar system. I think the problem is way more foundational than the OP things (although he recognises a major hurdle for the future).

Case in point: I’m in a woman-dominated field in which women still get preferential hiring. It was never about ‘equality’.

This is because the vast majority of the “voices” on the left (and, indeed, in all political organisations of any size) come from extremely privileged people with substantial wealth and elite educations. Of course their leftism is abstract and obtuse, because the real deal would threaten their REAL privilege. Hence the deflection to vague idpol.

We’re all in the same weird spot politically….that’s why we’re here! Any way I’m skeptical of “equity”. I don’t see how that can mean anything other than “discrimination”.

The Oxbridge comment doesn’t surprise me. The more elite the institution the more uniformly (and incuriously) woke people tend to be. We can’t win. All we can do is survive. Here’s hoping you survive.

In my experience at universities the more women are in power the more rules start cropping up. Everything trends towards conformity and regulation (“professionalisation”). This has some benefits, of course, but it stifles the real, vibrant, idiosyncratic aspects of university life that really drew me in two decades ago. It might make the university slightly safer or slightly more efficient, but it does so at the expense of the magic. What a horrible price to pay….

Saying it’s impossible to change an aspect of human behavior is kind of against left wing ideals. I disagree. In fact, I wouldn't say there is anything particularly 'left wing' about trying to change human nature. Most left wing policies are about either trying to channel that nature more effectively/less catastrophically, or at the very least mitigating the inevitable damage done by people because of their nature.

I don’t think that’s possible. Male expendability is hard-coded into us as a species. A tribe with ten men and 40 women will survive. A tribe with 10 women and 40 men is on the fast track for extinction. Trying to rewire our biology is pointless. The only option is to try ti regulate the effects of our biology (encouraging the positive and trying to offset the negative).

To some extent young men, in particular, have always, and will always, face these challenges. It is part of the (expendable) role men play. You can’t change that, but you can change how men cope. You can encourage healthy responses (exercise, study, pursuit of excellence in some field or other), rather than destructive ones (excessive intoxication, being too online, etc.).

I would say much higher rates of polygamy than you think, and also women cycle through being single way faster. They can always CHOOSE when to get off the treadmill….men can’t. The agency of it makes it vastly more bearable.

The median real income graph is cute. Let’s do that the same for median family expenses and see how things map! (Anyone who thinks things are generally getting “better” economically is out of their mind….)

Agreed. “Oppression” is far too strong a term.

Far too inflexible. Real world international relations are far too complicated for such a restriction to work well over the long term. It completely destroys deterrence.

People should have healthcare regardless of their political or social beliefs. No one should go hungry, or lack shelter, etc. for their ideas or their in capabilities. That’s why I’m a socialist. Misandry doesn’t change any of that.

Thank you! I can't be the only one that has noticed how fashionable it has become (again!) to lash out at nerdy men. "Incel"..."man child"...."neckbeard"..."basement dweller". It's like an 80s high school flick all over again, but without the basic intelligence to be self-conscious about it all. People are totally unaware of who or what they're abusing with these sorts of terms...

I’ve never understood this belief that incels feel “entitled”. What nonsense! Having the totally normal human desire for love and sex is not ‘being entitled’. EVERYONE feels this way, it’s just that most people don’t express their feelings and frustrations in public. That’s the principal difference (and, of course, incels are fine expressing things in public because they’ve effectively lost hope).
