NO they DO NOT make better boyfriends and appreciate you more! They SHOULD, logically, but eh, they certainly don’t.

This is (part of) what that study incels have never read and are always misciting ACTUALLY says. You know the one: ”Women only want 20% of men!”. That men rate their own looks, and those of women, higher than women do, while women rate their own looks (and men’s) lower than men do. It’s them who rate themselves too highly and then whine that they can’t get the ones they’re after. As a bisexual I see this with ugly men constantly, whining about being given a chance when they’ve clearly only chose…

So much this. I’ve dated a few guys like this and they did a lot of this. I never knew if they’d be normal on any given day, or snarky and selfposessed or ignoring me. And they rationalized it as okay because they suffered so much themselves and they ”needed” the relationship to be exactly as they wanted it... I have female friends who are depressed and somehow they’re never like this 🙄

Yup. I realized this after my first relationship (very abusive) and worked super hard to deal with what made me someone who ended up in that situation in the first place because otherwise I knew my next relationship would be the same, as would all subsequent ones. It worked!

This reminds me of the dude in the comments of a game review who complained that he never met any girls who where into video games. Another dude replied something like ”You’ve just not looked hard enough then.” And the first dude goes like ”No I’ve looked for 10 years! Well maybe there’s some where you live, but where I live, in NYC, there aren’t any!” Like... no, not a single gamer in NYC lol.

I can recommend a good book about economics and gender and the devaluation of women’s unpaid labour, if anyone’s interested: https://www.amazon.com/Who-Cooked-Adam-Smiths-Dinner/dp/1681774445

My sister had an ex like this. Except he didn’t even write, he had his friends reply instead and tell her to ”stop writing essays” and shit. I hope that dude trips and falls on a cactus with his butthole first one day.

Came here to say that. Their problems never seem to be, like, The Actual Problem At Hand, it’s women’s refusal to push our own problems away in order to fix men’s.

^ This tbh. When men say they want to be approached, this is what they mean. For an easy hookup or just for the validation, sure, but not for anything serious. They aren’t even actually lying here, just not telling the important part of the truth 🙄

I’ve now been on my diet for two weeks, and have suceeded in keeping at least as much calorie deficiency as I want every day, usually 200-300 less. Haven’t even been hungry. I think I’ll be able to keep this up just fine 😊 pandemic time is perfect diet time! I was also asked to participate in a debate next month about current sustainability/environment priorities in my city as a representative from the city council board I’m on. I accepted, it’ll be my first proper debate, eeek!

My mom used to work as a teen/youth counselor focused on sex/relationships up until around 3 years ago, and she said that she’d seen increasing numbers of young people (both girls and boys) affected by porn and wondering if you have to do and like all that degrading stuff. So I think many just believe it’s expected of them. Heartbreaking, regardless.

Exactly. I dated someone once who asked during foreplay of first sex if I had a IUD or similar. I was like ”We know nothing of each other’s sexual histories, go get a condom”. And he did and nothing unprotected happened. Then it struck me that if he tried to do it condomless with me, he’d likely done it with others too. So I asked him when he last got tested for STDs, which was never! So I ordered him to go get tested. Turned out he had chlamydia hahaha. He started always using condoms after tha…

I’ve had 6 boyfriends or long-term dates with affective disorders (depression/bipolar, sometimes PTSD and ADHD as well), as well as several shorter relationships, and also been in therapy to learn how to handle being with someone like that, so if you or anyone else are wondering about dating mentally ill men in general, I hope I can help out by sharing some of what I’ve learnt from my experiences. First, them being aware of their disorder AND how it affects their lives and other people in it is …

Spot on! Especially #6, which I found out before finding FDS, through a bunch of guys who’d blame various issues of theirs for why they kept hurting me and leaving me unfulfilled. If somebody does that, it doesn’t matter why they do it; what matters is that both people in the relationship are happy.

Has anyone here read ”The End of Men” by Hanna Rosin? It’s basically about how the economic changes of the 20th century has affected gender roles, and what the author concluded is basically this. Women have evolved and learned how to do the ”man parts” of relationships but men have not wanted to learn how to do the ”women parts”, and also often fail at the man parts, so now we have a situation where women can fulfill all their needs and men can fulfill none of women’s needs and not the women par…

It actually is true that they teach some skills though, I know the government agency for public employment in my country has some sort of project going on right now about how to turn the skills gained from gaming into marketable skills for the labour market. Not sure what skills it’s actually about though, haven’t read that much about it.

In my culture, splitting the check is the norm. I’ve had a few hugely desperate dudes way below my league and some much older well-paid ones (when I was a student) offer to pay for my meals or date activities, but other than that, we’ve both paid for our own. And I see American articles like this, claiming splitting bills leads to equality, and American men in their idiot subreddits claiming that the bill-paying is why they’re shit. But seriously, from all I’ve seen, the men are just as shit her…

Reminds me of an old lady I met a while ago, she told me about the time in the 80’s when she met Donald Trump. She said ”you know as a woman you can get the feeling around some men like ”this is danger, this is not a good man, I want to escape” and he triggered that full-on.” This must be what she meant.

This is every mentally ill dude that ever dragged his sorry ass across my path. Depression, anxiety, bipolar, PTSD, they had all kinds of problems, and would write to me like this every time I grew too much of a backbone. Then they’d be off setting up accounts on every dating app 2 days after 🙄 Or they’d ”crash” and milk as much sympathy as they can while they mess their lives up for 5 extra minutes of crying in bed, but when they are in a better place, do they take actions for that not to happe…

I’d like to add ”Does not let you be a true part of his life; hiding your relationahip status, doesn’t let you meet his friends, never let’s you come to his house, etc.” I’d also like to add bad and not properly treated affective disorders (that means both therapy/medication to make him healther as well as actively learning to live with it in ways that do not negatively affect others in his life or inhibit his possibility to lead a somewhat normal life. Others should never suffer because HE is m…

It’s the only kind of physical intimacy they’re allowed (by society/other men) to have, and female sexual partners are the only ones they’re allowed to have emotional intimacy with. And wanting a lot of sex, as well as having a lot of sex partners, is how men are raised to believe you perform masculinity.

Great post! Men should not have to feel like they have to limit themselves to not seem ”gay”, they deserve all the cuddles they need.

I asked a 45-year old woman about this and she said that while the majority of the younger men only want sex, still about a third of her friends around her own age are dating men significantly younger. Not sure where they met though.

Reminds me of that mf I dated once, for like 1-2 months, everything was nice, and then when I invite him home and finally try to have sex... his conscience got the better of him or something, and he tells me that he was only stringing me along so that I would take his virginity so that it wouldn’t be so awkward once he ~got to do it with the girl he actually likes~ 😒 So no sex happened. Instead I yelled at him for like an hour while he cried in my bed and then I threw him out (middle of the nigh…

This! I used to be a camgirl, and it is amazing how men will spend an hour trying to nag/plead/manipulate you into something like showing your boobs (literally costed $2). They could've googled and found some free porn pic/video of a similar girl with similar boobs in 5 seconds flat. Or, I dunno, just pay the damn $2. But nooo.

I swiped right on one guy once because he listed his height as 5’2” and I thought that indicated he was really brave and must’ve known it would deter many so obviously he’d have a lot more to offer. No, hahahaha.

I pulled a Han Solo like this on a dude once when he told me he’d had a crush on me for the past 6 years we’d known each other. He proceeded to start a huge whiny thread about me on a big online community we both frequented (I still wonder if he really didn’t think I’d see it?). I kinda regret not going in there like ”Hi this is the girl the post is about, OP can go fuck himself”.

So much this! You’re only following their own logic, after all. Also, men in general being cheap&easy doesn’t have anything to do with us really, it’s their choice, it should be them it reflects badly on if anything.

This is called codependency! There is r/Codependency about this where you can find lots of info about it as well as book recommendations and the like. I went through this and it sucks as hell but it gets so much better once you consciously work through it.
