That's certainly one POV, but a lot of servicemen will just not deploy and there's a lot of them that have to work at a desk for 10 hours a day. Factor in family, extra training, schooling, etc. and it becomes more realistic that for the mandatory physical training that you do have, you're going to want more focused workouts, man or woman. The main point I'm bringing up is that the new APFT is more geared for a male body than a female body as compared to the previous test. Especially considering…

My wife and I can't have kids so it gives us a lot of time to just be with each other and reach personal/professional goals.

I just sepped from AF, but I worked in a joint environment and the new APFT is no joke from what my Army friends told me. I think the new test favors muscle mass in the sense that you need to be able to lift, but Army PT hasn't updated in a way that would allow women to put on the mass needed to take care of the ball toss and weighted shuttle. There's a tech school called DLI for linguists. You'll see people get married within 3 weeks there and they'll last the year they have at DLI. Then some go to Goodfellow AFB and from my anecdotal experience, 80% of them get divorces. It has such a reputation that people refer to it as the Desperate Love Insititute.
