You seem to lack an understanding of the idea that how they are is a perspective they've had their whole lives. It's part of their identity and just a fact of life as they grew and came to understand the world. Belittling them because they have a different perspective informing a different opinion is not how you win anyone to your side of the fence.

It's not fair to equate a lack of education with lack of reason.

Typical. They said "He should have to pay if he wasn't raped, and shouldn't if he was." The issue here is with these girls perception that dudes can almost never be raped. This is a problem with their education on the subject, and not necessarily wild feminism at work. They seemed like reasonable girls, I bet if someone brought up some of the stuff in this thread they'd think about it seriously.

Rape claims aren't an apples to apples comparison to to AIDS victims rights. We know there are bullshit laws in place that protect women in rape claims, and a system that panders to their lying by doing nothing about it. I don't think it's fair in this case to generalize that area of law to this one.

I think he would, in the sense that AIDS victims don't deserve to have their information put out there for the world to discriminate against.

you're only like the tenth person to post something like this, and you completely disregarded the content of the post, or you read it through the feminist hating eyes that most of /mensrights shares. She didn't say it was became men are irresponsible bastards, she says it's because women usually take the burden for it in the relationship, which is not false considering they have way more ability to do that nowadays, why wouldn't it stay the norm with male bc pills introduced (disclaimer: I'm not…

you right, I was high. It's 32% My point is, that's 32% of the time where it's easier for a woman to get her tubes tied right then than it is for her to have a c section and then for the man to go and get snipped later. You caught me.

Those are only the cases you see in the news, and thats a minority. Most of the men in this world have kids when they want to have them, not when their girl at the time decides to.

No no no no no no no nonononononononononononononono, you fucking morons. The responsibility rant was in response to someone saying "we don't like condoms because they don't feel good." Why don't you try reading the words and not reading into the words. CONDOMS == BIRTH CONTROL I'm not being captain hindsight, you're just throwing bullshit out in an attempt to win a conversation you have no chance at. If anything, I'm being captain foresight. I'll say it again: Male bc pills will be sweet, but in the meantime we have a totally viable alternative called CONDOMS - use them. Don't trust bitches with their own bc, EVER. Wrap that shit up (for now), and whenever the time comes, start hittin them pills. I know I will.
/r/MensRights08/08/11 06:15 PM
1

First off: That 2% failure rate you always hear about is for condoms without spermicides or other alternative stoppage means than just latex. So the actual use failure rate for condoms is much lower. also, bitching about how it doesn't feel as good is about a 16 year old response as you can get. Certainly, the pill will be sweet, but in the mean time I don't have one ounce of sympathy for men who don't use condoms because "they make it feel less good."
/r/MensRights08/08/11 06:13 PM

It's about contraception, which they don't seem to be interested in so far. I have not once bitched about having more choices. You people are driving me nuts with this shit. I am all for more choices, male bc pills would be sweet. In the meantime we have condoms, which are perfectly safe and reasonable. That's all I'm saying.

No no no no no. You need better reading skills OBVIOUSLY. NONE of my posts say "we don't need anything better." The first post I replied to said "SEXUAL REVOLUTION" for men when male bc pills get here. I only called bullshit on that part, pointing out that we have a perfectly safe totally viable option for birth control right now that a lot of use stupidly choose not to exercise, and they are called condoms. Why don't you try reading my posts, instead of reading into my posts. Then you might com…

She's saying it's because men don't need to, because usually the woman in the relationship is the one who handles the "burden" (if you will) of birth control. Now, she doesn't take into account that most births are done via c section these days, and tying up the tubes of a woman who doesn't want to have any more kids is just convenient while you're in there. Or that fact that there is a percentage chance that vasectomies are not reversible. Those things certainly detract from the value of her po…

wild minority. Thanks for trying to prove your case with the outlier. GET A VASECTOMY ENJOY ALLERGEN FREE SEX. I can't wait for the male pill to come out either. But in the meantime, most of us can both access and use condoms. That's not what the original post I replied to said. It said the pill would mean a "sexual revolution" for men. His words, not mine. You can't really think that the pill would mean a sexual revolution, can you? I mean, really? It's not like condoms don't exist right now and let you have all the sex you want child free.... Which is the whole point I started with before everyone started jumping on my dick about fuck knows.

Responsibility - that's what using condoms is. Not getting yourself there in the first place - that's what millions of responsible men have done for generations and they aren't saddled with alimony or child support or ex wives. This is all about being responsible with what we have, while we wait on something better to get here.
/r/MensRights08/08/11 05:47 PM

I'm talking about condoms being a perfectly viable form of birth control pre male "the pill." You're talking about denying personal rights based on a choice to not use contraception? And you think I'm the off topic one?

 What the fuck is the matter with you people? That post IS NOT AGAINST MALE BIRTH CONTROL PILLS. It's against the idea that, until they get here, that safe sex is damned near impossible. What the fuck is the matter with the reading comprehension in here? You people are retarded.

no no no no no no no. I want it. I am all for male bc pills. What I am against is, in the here and now, dudes talking like sex is some roll of the dice they have to make every time they have sex, and if they lose they lose their livelihood. What I am against is dudes who think it's ok to trust women with their birth control needs. What I am against is dudes who think "condoms suck" is a good enough reason not to use them. Different things here
/r/MensRights08/08/11 05:33 PM
-1

I would laugh because those two things don't seem to have anything in common. I'm not against dudes having more options. I'm all for a male bc pill. What I'm against is men bitching about how hard it is to have sex and use condoms in the mean time. I'm talking about the right now. I'm talking about all the heartache and walletache that can be saved if men will follow the simple advice: Never trust a woman to bring her own birth control to the bedroom
/r/MensRights08/08/11 05:29 PM

That two percent doesn't include condoms with spermicidal lubricant or other extra-protection benefits, which condoms have. So even in small failure cases, the likelihood of pregnancy is very low.

/r/MensRights08/08/11 04:57 PM

Condoms are more than adequate protection, and more protective than the pill in that they are just as successful at worst, and have the added benefit of decreasing the likelihood that you catch some STDs

To me that's like saying, "ribbed, twisted, extended pleasure, fire and ice" Different versions of the same thing. Why the hell do you need to have every flavor to feel equal? I know, it's because you're so jaded by the real inequalities, that you feel the need to even sweat the petty things. That's how beaten down the system has made you. It's sad, really.

It's not likely to be just the liklihood of an accident. If, for instance, black people are 150% more likely to get into an accident AND they do on average 600% more in damage when they get in a wreck, that's two multipliers right there. Plus they can count things like DUI's per race, or age group, etc etc until they nickel and dime you for everything.

They aren't based on race, they are based on risk.
/r/MensRights27/07/11 05:25 PM

Cars don't get into accidents, people do. If a guy is 120% (pulled this example out of my ass) more likely to get in a wreck than a girl, his premium is going to be higher because there's more risk involved in insuring him. The same is true for all sorts of measured demographics.

less complicated doesn't mean less capable. He has a point. Men are interested in attractiveness, women want the whole package. That makes the female thought process more complicated, but it doesn't imply that men are bumbling oafs, only that the game is a little more clear cut for us.

I could be pulling from personal experiences here. I've always kinda felt the implication of wanting a woman who can cook was the expectation that she cook. Maybe I'm just the sexist one.
/r/MensRights12/07/11 03:47 PM
-1

Having preferences is not the same as being sexist, except for the part where she implies an expectation that he can take care of her. I'm not saying that she's not being sexist, but that he is too. I could be pulling from personal experience here... But typically when I or other dudes have mentioned wanting a woman who knows her way around the kitchen, it's because we expect her to be there on occasion cooking.
/r/MensRights12/07/11 02:56 PM
-5

I never started with a pitchfork, I am the one trying to explain the other side here before all you MR's get your pants in a wad. I'm not saying she's right, and I may be pulling from personal experience here, but usually when dudes say they want a woman who can cook it's because they expect to be cooked for. Which, and don't get upset it's just a word, is a little sexist. As sexist as her saying she wants a man to take care of her.... but sexist none the less. Let's just keep that in mind.
/r/MensRights12/07/11 02:55 PM
-6

the requirements for having a nice car and remaining fit make the girl shallow, but not sexist. I'll give you that expecting her man to take care of her is.
/r/MensRights12/07/11 04:55 AM

I specifically said that he implied that it was her job, which means that he implied an unequal share of the cooking should be hers. Try again.

My god, what is the matter with you? My post said: "She's not mad because he wants a woman with cooking skills, she's mad because of the implication that it's her job to cook." I don't have a problem with any of what the dude said in that comic strip, so: chill the fuck out, learn to read, and put down the pitchfork long god damn enough to understand something. Maybe you can put on some reasonable glasses and join the realm of people who aren't batshit insane.
/r/MensRights12/07/11 04:50 AM
-22

Let's clear something up here: The girl in the comic is mad because the dude implies an expectation not only that she can cook, but that she will, or that it is her responsibility as part of the relationship. Which is a little sexist. (disclaimer: I have a woman who can cook)

That kid did something unexpected and completely out of the norm for him. Attacking this woman for being a bad driver is unfair in this case. It's not like the kid was out playing in the yard and she didn't keep an eye out for him before she stormed out of the driveway. he was supposed to be hanging out in the house, far away from danger. This is a tragedy, and what this woman does (for the most part) is just her way of dealing with it. The internet hate is not necessary here.

I'm not a feminist. I lean away from the feminists in every regard save this one, apparently. Guess what? life is not always fair, it's not always equal, and no amount of bitching about it will come to a fair conclusion. The point is that there is no way you can look at abandoning your child financially "because you didn't want it," in a light that makes it ok. There's just no way to do it. It doesn't work. It's asshattery at its finest. You (some dude) made the decision to have unprotected sex,…

Fewer choices is not the same as no choice. You don't want babies? Take preventative measures not to make them and you won't have to worry about whether or not the mom does You want babies? Have unprotected sex with another adult woman with whom you've talked about and are ready to have children. Sure, it's not balanced. She has more choices (or chances) throughout the process than you do. But there are a whole bunch of stupid choices you make to get into the situations you described. Namely not…

In your timeline and mine, men AND women have the ability to not become parents. To say that men don't think clearly while fucking is a cop out. ...I have no idea how you think your characterization of my argument follows from my post. So I'm going to try to respond to this the best way I can and hope for some clarification. You (and most other MRs) come off as whining children when you make these demands. This need for such strict and complete equality in every level of everything is not only completely undoable, it's pretty retarded. The truth of the matter is there is equality, you just refuse to accept that it's true because it leaves you in a position where you have to deal with consequences you don't want. While there might not be equality at every stage in the baby making process, the rights of either parent …

Men can not start their parental rights or responsibilities by putting on a condom five seconds before insertion. You're taking an obviously unequal situation and trying to demand equality from it instead of understanding that you have JUST AS MUCH right to not be a parent, just in a different way. You either choose to exercise it when you can and not be a parent, or you put the ball in the woman's court and have to deal with her decision.

Using the poor system of child support (and I agree, it's poor) as a crutch to support your idea that you shouldn't have to face any responsibility is avoiding the real discussion. And it's influenced by a psyche that you don't even realize is there. To assume that you are in full control of who you are based on your cognitive psyche is ludicrous. You are constantly under the control of completely instinctive ideas and behaviors you don't actively think about, and while we as a society have chosen what of those instincts are ok to pursue and which aren't, that doesn't make them any less real, and it doesn't make them have an less effect on who you are.

Why aren't they? We're genetically similar, and I dare say that the more we observe nature the more we see correlations in our instincts and theirs. The only difference between us and them is our complicated society and a few IQ points. Seeing the ways in which they interact, unbridled by the judgements of those around them is really a Lord of the Flies type insight into the way we'd probably act (and sometimes do when no one's looking) if we could.

lol, I don't know why you're making it a race or class issue. The point is that an alimony payer was party to the dependency creation of their significant other, and while I agree that the alimony receiver's standard of living shouldn't be upheld at the expense of the alimony payer's standard of living, there should be at LEAST some assistance given to the dependent to get on their feet post divorce. I certainly agree (albeit arbitrarily) the <=14 years old is absolutely an age group that needs protecting from all sorts of possible sexual encounters. as you get older than that, it becomes difficult to judge who is mature enough to understand/enjoy/want/consent to sex and who isn't. The point is, marking everyone under 18 (or 16 here in NC... or some bullshit like 14 in SC) as being unable to say yes to sex, even if they want to, is sometimes stupid.

You're arguing semantics. The point here is that we draw an arbitrary line in the sand, and once you hit a magical day in your life not particularly different from many of the ones before it, or after, you are allowed to start having sex. Truth of the matter is that people become ready for sex at different points in their adolescence, and while we can all agree that there should be an arbitrary line somewhere... I think we can all agree that it gets blurry as you approach it.

Back when it was first implemented, I think it was reasonable to only require men to sign up, as it was a male dominated military, and back in the colonial days women really didn't have quite the same say in it as we did. Nowadays, women have the same rights we do, because they've asked for them. I think that should come with having to sign up for the draft... so we're on the same side here. There's no need to get up in arms about it.

You don't see a problem with that? Did I say I didn't? I am pretty sure later in my post I make a comment about how women should "sign the hell up" Which rights & privileges do men have today in the US which women don't? ...Yeah, see "sign the hell up" Hillary Clinton actually proposed expanding Selective Service to women. The point I'm making is that there's no negative response because people are generally ok with their religion. Most chicks won't like the implications of the idea that I think they are mannish enough or have enough mannish qualities to suspect enough to actually ask them if they were born with a penis. The question will offend women, a lot.

It's nothing like asking a girl if she's a muslim. I have no problem asking a girl what her religious ideologies are, and taking whatever her response is in stride. But, you're missing the main point, she's not going to get pissed off when I ask her what her religion is (probably). Asking about transgender...ism is an incredibly difficult task, that's why you should be forthcoming. Let's assume for a moment that a transgendered woman doesn't seem to be transgendered (I don't know that I've ever …

To get the benefits of the government which runs the country you live in, you gotta sign up for the draft (here). I don't see a problem with that. If the situation calls for it, we should be available to defend ourselves and our way of life from invasion. I haven't read the article, so I don't know if the guy got fired for refusing to sign with selective services or if he just didn't know (in which case firing him seems a little overboard), but it's not unreasonable. That said, I think if women …

Could you, just for arguments sake, give me a way of asking a girl if she has ever been in a man in a way that will neither get me assaulted nor ruin my chances of getting laid? Obviously she didn't give a damn after the fact, so getting all in a tiff about it as a third party is unnecessary. Also, being blacked out doesn't necessarily mean catatonic, she could very well have invited sex while she was blacked out. Also, just because children have other role models that you don't approve of doesn't mean that you should place another one in front of him/her.

Also, if we assume the 2% of men are the sexual offenders stat, then there are 500 guys raping 6250 women in a 50,000 student campus (if we assume the guy/girl ratio=1) Meaning each rapist on campus is raping ~13 women. I'm of the mindset that a man can not have children if he wants to, and he should take responsibility for his actions if he does. Just because a woman can abort a pregnancy and shirk her responsibilities doesn't mean it's ok for a guy to. And you didn't quote the most important part of my argument from the last post, and that's that given the options (making the guy pay for the kid or making society pay for it) they guy should have to pay.

First off, only one of those female options comes before it's born (abortion) and if you didn't want a kid, you shouldn't have impregnated a woman. Secondly, you can abandon the kid (and its mom) and just run off and be unfindable, that's totally doable. Thirdly, you don't have to give the kid to some third party for the mom to take care of it without you. What rights don't you have?

You're muddling points here. Of course I think a man is innocent until proven guilty regardless of his supposed crimes. The fucked up part is that the author of the post thinks that women are unequivocally game for anything once they are behind closed doors with you. This is not the case. And individually, dudes need to recognize that pressing the lines isn't worth it. And if you can't see that as a moral standard, then watch out... cause you might end up raping someone.
/r/MensRights29/03/11 10:29 PM

Before the quote, I know MRA's don't have this view as a group. So, barbaric as it might sound, I think consent ends the minute a woman purposefully and willingly isolates herself with a man she is attracted to. If an individual makes a bad judgment call, he/she better be carrying a taser – because that person’s life is their own responsibility – not government’s in the process of randomly guessing who is right and who is wrong in a life ending game of “he said she said”, with no just conclusion…

I'm not talking about in a court of law. I'm talking about the lines that you need to draw in private, the restraints you need to have for yourself as an individual. The idea that, once you're alone with her, she's yours to do with as you please is insulting.
/r/MensRights29/03/11 10:05 PM

That's not the issue. It's the idea that a woman, once alone with a man, has de facto consented to whatever you want to do with her. That's the fucked up part.

0

This is ridiculous, extremist drivel. I am all for men's rights, but the idea that once a woman is alone with a man she is at his disposal is retarded, and his ideas are over the edge. There are lines to be drawn, and while those are blurry and shouldn't vilify dudes in clearly non black and white scenarios, there are obviously restraints that men should place on themselves, to stop when a woman wants to stop.

So that makes the problem a financial one. Should mom have to get an abortion if she can't afford to take care of a child on her own? That seems to be an awfully petty reason to choose (what I believe to be) killing a child. If we look at the scenario where dad doesn't want it but mom keeps it anyway, the only other alternative I see is that the mother goes on welfare and gets state aid to help raise the child. No, that would be having equivalent rights, and that's not reasonable. Again, exert your rights BEFORE and you don't have to worry about her rights during.

All I hear is pissing and moaning because you don't have the same rights as her, but you obviously have equal rights. You could easily keep her from having these rights at all (by keeping the situation from happening) if you'll exert some god damn responsibility.

I am saying that if a pregnancy happens it's pretty obviously the guys fault because it's his job to make sure preggers doesn't happen. This is where our fundamental differences lie. I submit for consideration that there are two halves that make up equal portions of importance in the baby making decision process. They do not, however, take up equal time, but that's not important. ALL of the precautions are the responsibility of the male. All his reproductive rights exist pre-pregnancy. Once she …

It's like this. All your rights exist BEFORE the pregnancy part. And all hers exist AFTER.

I never said the other driver in my scenario COULDN'T magically uncrash the car. In this case, she can. But you don't get to decide once the car is crashed, it's totally up to the other party. The point being that there are a ton of precautionary measures you could have taken to not crash, and you didn't. Even if the case is that you should be a better defensive driver...

All of our rights exist BEFORE the pregnancy part. We need to be smart enough to make use of them then

You get to fix your mistakes: stupid car analogy: you pay to fix the cars pregnant chick analogy: You pay to support your child.

As a parent, yes. Financially, no. Babies be expensive, he is partly at fault for this accident, he should have to cover his half of the damages, fulfilling responsibilities as a dad or no

That is not the same as uncrashing the cars, that's taking financial responsibility for the situation. Which is what the OP's brother needs to do

Hey guess what? there are possible medical repercussions to having an abortion too. Why should she have to take the risk because he "just isn't ready to be a father?" He can take the risk instead (before hand) and keep shit like this from happening at all

Oh, so we're going to go the typical internet route of trying to draw parallels between something completely nonparallel? The problem with me trying to point out why that's stupid is that you'll try to poke your little holes into everything I say until we're not even on topic anymore. How about this: I'll concede that consent was maybe not the best word. I stand by my idea that if you don't follow the necessary precautions to NOT have a child, you don't get a say in whether or not she has it. Th…

I (in the generic case) 100% agree with that statement, so your troll isn't very effective there.

Get that shit out of here. The OP's brother gambled at parenthood when he ejaculated into the baby making machine that was his girlfriend. He doesn't get or deserve a say in what happens to the child he created. Mark it down, dudes in the /mensrights... If you don't want to have a baby, don't have sex. If you must, WRAP IT UP. If you are serious, GET A VASECTOMY. It's not like they aren't reversible. It's called being accountable for your actions, and your brother needs to man the hell up and be…
