That's sad to think about. I've got clothes from 10+ years ago that I've worn hundred and hundreds of times... I usually throw them out when the holes get too big, or they rip apart.

I would think so as well. Then again if you don't like your gym's policies, you would usually cancel your membership rather than sue for discrimination. These guys are either after a check, or they just really hate that a business doesn't share their social values.

"No one is saying they can't if they want a men and women section" The Supreme Court of Connecticut is saying they can't... Where are you getting the idea of a gym being forced to segregate? The article is about two men successfully accusing gyms of discrimination because of their women - only sections.

Why can't a privately owned gym have men's and women's sections if they want to instead of opening an entire new location?

Genuine question: is it just as bad for a female pedo as it is for a male pedo in prison? From everything I've heard, male pedos get absolutely brutalized in prison.

Yeah if you can *prove* a false rape accusation... IMO that's like one step less evil than attempted murder.

A quick Google search shows "The average sentence for convicted rapists was 9.8 years, while the actual time served was 5.4 years", so yes 5-10 years each seems like a good starting point.

It's still obviously a criminal going unpunished, but that guy had the right to stay silent. He wasn't raped or hurt (to my knowledge), he was robbed. As a teen I thought it would be hilarious to go into a bunch of different restaurants and ask what I could get for a quarter. I went to an ice cream place and they gave me a cup of M&Ms, score! Then I went to a lebanese restaurant and they gave me a bowl of soup. I wasn't trying to pretend to be poor and starving, just goofing around, but the soup was awesome lol

Oh absolutely. 90% of customers are somewhere from neutral to polite, and the other 10% are either somewhere is the rude-punchable range, or the make-your-day variety. I've not been in retail too long, but I've had customers who yell at me, customers that remind me that there's hope for humanity, and even some customers who started out yelling at me but left pretty happy which is it's own unique type of rewarding. I really do take great care to nail the customer service. My parents taught me the…

Yeah that's kind of the point. It's not at all acceptable, and you should absolutely be ostracized for that sort of behavior. If you want to break the rules of society and harm others while showing so little regard for a person who's trying to make a living by providing you with a service, you will be the object of ridicule, criticism, and isolation until you have proven that you know why your actions were wrong and show remorse, or at the very least show that your need for social acceptance is …

Yeah, I think the retail ass-kissery makes them think there's room for discussion on an answer I've already given. That's when you have to just say "no, I can not and will not change the price for you. If this is not good enough, do not shop here". It sucks, because I literally make myself sick with stress to maintain my composure, and I really will do whatever I can for the customer until the point where I feel I'm being taken advantage of.

I'm actually not very invested in any sort of wild west fantasy, I never liked cowboy stuff. I just think that as you move backwards on the timeline you generally have more things going on that we wouldn't approve of today, and I think that in the American timeline, the period of Western expansion would naturally lead to more of those things. Like the whole mass-importing of Chinese and Irish laborers who were treated a little better than slaves, and the settlement of new pockets of civilization…

Yeaaah, I don't think they were keeping official records of every Chinese laborer that got beaten or murdered, let alone all the bar fights, muggings, domestic abuses, etc... I mean I wasn't there, but I'm pretty sure they had a different view of violent crime when you were legally allowed to beat your wife under the right circumstances, and I don't think they kept the extensive reports like we do today where most everyone can read and write, has access to the court system and lawyers, and elect…

The farther away you got from the army (at least before/during the construction of the cross continental railroad) the less military strength there was to enforce the law. And don't forget about the sex-slaves that illegally populated a lot of the brothels in the west, and the gambling that came with the westward expansion. girls love to stand behind the "right to sex" excuse Which is fine as long as they don't take advantage of men who don't necessarily feel that they're "owed" sex, but expect that their courtesy will earn them a shot at conversation or interest. when in the entire history of the world have you ever received or done a favor for someone without expectation of reciprocation? Well if you're in a bar and someone offers you a drink, they're probably using it as a conversation starter but you're not obligated to continue the conversation if you lose interest. Assuming it's an offer, not a request. For guys the drinks are kind of like putting bait on a fishing line. A polite / classy woman would decline the offer if she had no interest in the guy. If you accept the offer to a 1 on 1 date, you're basically committing to an hour or so of conversation. The right thing to do…

The difference is that guys offer the drinks as an 'in'. Buying a girl a drink doesn't make her your property for the night. Offering to take someone out to dinner is also an 'in', but by accepting your offer a girl is agreeing to spend that time with you one on one regardless of who pays.

I don't really think it's the laws that are problematic so much as it is the system in which they're implimented. Judges and jurys are very biased and it's a huge issue.
/r/PussyPass30/12/14 04:03 AM

I specifically say that it should only happen if they can prove it though, which means you would need something along the lines of the girl saying as much in a video, or being able to prove that they weren't in the same place at the time of the accusation. I couldn't agree more on innocent until proven guilty. My idea would only work if that was actually still a thing.
/r/PussyPass30/12/14 03:44 AM

I think of it can be proven that the rape accusation is false (as opposed to just having charges dropped for lack of evidence) the false accusor should be given the sentence that the "rapist" would've received.

Venetian is supposed to be about female empowerment, and fighting the advantage they believe men have in society. I'm not denying that there are feminists who want what you're talking about, but no tenant of any form of feminism includes men assuming a woman is to weak to defend herself. This guy jumping in is an extreme version of the classic feminist complaint of men holding doors for women.
/r/PussyPass31/10/14 07:06 AM
-8

That's not the result of feminist propoganda, if anything it contradicts the feminist movement. I think a feminist would be upset that the big guy assumes the woman can't take care of herself. The attacker is actually hitting the little guy as a result of the traditional value of treating women as delicate helpless objects.

Making other people aware of the injustice would probably be a better way of stopping it, as opposed to perpetuating the injustice to raise awareness of it. I mean, it's not like you hoping for Mckay's arrest is wrong since you aren't actually doing anything to make it happen, but if your opinion is that the law is unjust... I mean, I'm totally against no-knock raids but I don't want any more babies getting flashbanged.

She shouldn't be the exception. That's exactly my point. The shouldn't have to be an exception. An unfair law being selectively enforced is still less horrible than blanket enforcement. I would make the same argument if it was about a boy, girl, transgender, or whatever.

In my opinion or legally? If a husband rapes or beats the wife and or kids, i think she should get probation only in the extreme scenario, or any level of reduced sentencing based on circumstances. Anywhere from no to full jail time could make sense

Yeah it was meant more as a complaint about the type of post and title than the content, which goes largely ignored anyway in favor of a tidy conclusion

I'm not sure that abuse would account for an extra decade... I was thinking more along the lines of women receiving a reduced sentence for "justified" murder, which in my opinion (although not legally, it does affect sentencing) is not the same crime. I'm also not arguing the implication of the statistic, but rather pointing out that reducing them to one sentence and ignoring the methodology and qualifications of the conclusion just lead to confirmation bias when they're posted to a place like t…

This is misleading though. Especially in the 80's, i would imagine the discrepancy is at least partially due to circumstances like abuse.

Martial arts are nothing more than fighting styles. The way fighters train depends entirely on coaches, opponents styles, and the combination of stores they train in. And yes, martial arts change. Maybe not wu shu, or magical Dragon style, but anything that would be used today adapts, or it's useless.

What I initially meant was that you are serious in a silly way and your ideas about gender roles and traditional manliness are overstated and outdated, although not necessarily wrong. To me, you come across as an unintentionally funny person.

That doesn't change anything though... do you not get what I was going for? I said "You would get along well with Dwight from the office", I didn't say you were like him. I meant the way you talk and your opinions are similar to Dwight's. Also, I've never seen the UK version. I don't think that's what you thought I meant but I'll just clarify because I'm not being very easy to understand.

I would estimate that on average, men would more often win the fight if fighting a woman of equal training. Also, on average men are stronger, so I think what you're trying to say is that the average man will usually beat the average woman in a fight. If a woman lifts and trains, she will beat the average man more likely than not.

I pointed out the fallacy because your experience, while valuable and legitimate, does not make a rule. For example, I've had maybe 4 run ins with the cops. I've gotten two warnings while driving, politely asked to leave a park that I hadn't realized was closed, and one where I was hiding drugs as the cop pulled up and I ended up having a conversation about Avatar with him. So if I were to do the same thing as you and assume that my experience accurately reflects the entire police force of the c…

First, you don't seem to know anything about gangs, because A) a lot if children join gangs who literally do not have moral agency (kids, not 17-18, children.) And B) it's not always a choice. A lot of times it's a matter of survival. Don't join? Gang kills you. Want to quit? Gang kills you. Try to get help? Gang kills you. Yes it is a shame we don't look at them as individuals. I'm not saying that when you see a gang member you should go talk to them and try to convince them to get a job at old…

Wall of text incoming. I have to organize my thoughts in bullet points or I'll make even less sense: I'm sure you think your family members are good people who do the right thing No, I really don't. I have a couple family members who I know are pieces of shit despite the fact that they are family, and I see them a couple times a year. My cop relative is one of the ones I don't see often, but him and his wife are two of the nicest people you'll ever meet. He could be a total sociopathic liar, but…

That's certainly true. I just definately don't think option one is the way to go. Well, nothing wrong with a boycott. An active protest would be a bit much though. I guess at the end of the day I'm down with 2, although I don't think it should be encouraged.

Honestly I think movies like this being censored would ruin our society. What I think should happen is for men and women to realize that this shit actually happens (in a more serious manner of course) and take this film as an opportunity to come out against it by not going to see it. Vote with your money rather than trying to mute someone's voice.

Take the high road. You think this guy would have a 100$ bail if he had defended himself by slamming his meat slab hands into her eggshell skull? No, he'd probably be looking at a few years. Your case will be a lot more meaningful if you don't look like some shit head trying to get away with domestic abuse.

As someone with family members on the force that kind of stings a bit. We get a really skewed sense of what cops are like, but we shouldn't forget that there are those who join up to protect and serve. The kind of cop that will still let you off with a warning for speeding, or look the other way on a minor crime for the sake of getting you home safely. There are girls at my college who don't feel safe walking home, and the police will escort them there. Sure there are a lot of sociopaths and pow…

But it was also specifically legislated to exclude religion from government, and of course to promote freedom of religion which was kind of a big deal back then.

I don't think that's a liberal thing. I'm ancap myself (more or less 1/2 and 1/2), and I see it on both sides. The conservative version is stifling secular speech and/or promoting state sponsored religion.
