Oh god, the porn thing. Yeah I remember getting caught and punished for it when I was in my early teens, all the explanation given for it was "it's disgusting filth" and "I don't want your sister to see it". Absolutely no engagement or guidance on the facts of life, like they were trying to play some Newsspeak trick where if I couldn't conceive of it, I wouldn't do it. Cowardly, lazy parenting now that I think about it.

Could you clarify what you mean by being honest with myself, as I thought I was doing that. Or do you mean to examine a deeper level and when I get feelings of anxiety I should embrace it and find the root cause? I may have misinterpreted the excerpts of Models that I've read. I think I'll spend the evening meditating and put any realizations onto askseddit. Thanks for the grounded guidance man.

Difficult truths for me to read but necessary. Thanks for the different perspective, I had a gut feeling that I'd dithered too much but at the very least I wanted her to say no rather than talking myself out of it. I've actually been there plenty of times before but never to that particular coffee shop. Pity I wasn't around for another day, I could've tried to make something happen. I was in such a good mood I started a conversation with a stranger in the train. It didn go so well lol but though I'm recognizing where I went wrong I'm not beating myself up over it, each approach is an important lesson in win some lose some :)
