or the causes? i’m getting super worried at our inability to promote free speech as an equal right. i despise this mans politics of hatred but he should not be harassed for it, i think an adjacent dance party would’ve sufficed while respecting his rights.

I think movements act like pendulums, to gather support initially they have to swing hard in one direction with momentum and a narrow focus (ie “Listen to us, Sexual Assault is serious and happens more than u think”) and so it leaves little room for nuance. Then there’s a backlash because there is always nuance in every situation and people will eventually call out the gaps that have been left behind. Eventually over time things settle and rational thinking can rise to the top.

If i remember correctly this was a controversy but the team came out and said it was right to give her special credit.

I think the anti-Karen movement has been huge in pointing out and bringing to the mainstream some of the logical inconsistencies with the feminist movement and the preferential treatment of women. People are definitely not as starkly opposed to those ideas as they were like a year or two ago.

You don’t need to be fake but you also don’t need to be needlessly confrontational or aggressive, we all know the social contract (which you point out, and i agree, sucks) so when someone passively asks you “how you are you?” we both know they expect the canned “fine” or “good” and when you say “pissed off”, which to some people is a minor swear word (ie not something to say around young children), its not unreasonable for them to find it rude - you’re a stranger and you’re disrupting their worl…

saying “pissed off” is obviously going to surprise someone negatively because it’s a rude way to communicate with a stranger, this shouldn’t be a surprise. you can be upset but instead say something like “i’m having a tough day”.

Yeah that’s cool man, I’ve been there. At least you’re bigger than most for acknowledging that.

Honestly this feels like you’re gas lighting her in a lot of ways with your responses, part of representing men’s rights is realizing how we’re looked at by people and not conflating their idea of us by being blunt and dismissive - it hurts the movement. Should’ve just said things about prostate cancer, suicide, and the hard facts that unarguably should be represented.

Everyone calling him a man-child for focussing on his feelings and not his child is a part of the problem. Dad feelings matter too and I can imagine having that happen would be a pretty hard experience, to think you’re connection with him isn’t as strong as you thought. It doesn’t mean Dad’s perfect, but if he is making a mistake that’s leading to his son closing off then this can be a great time to re-evaluate that and change it to form a healthier bond with his son. And after everything, he’s …

That’s because each side wants to win. Same can be said on almost all issues, the people that look for nuance and fact to fuel their support and outlook never get heard from and labelled as “non-committal sympathizers of the enemy”. It’s just a human thing.

There are lots of videos of people being feminists to the point of ignorance and they get roasted.

Do you have a good source that goes into this story? Would love to read more and would help for showing others potentially.

Not only this but the drag queen show forced each of the 20 guys to walk down a cat walk in nothing but a speedo in front of a crowd of like 100 people so the women could admire their bodies. I turned to my girlfriend and was like “you think this happens on the Bachelor?”. It would be a hell storm if they made 20 women in bikinis show off for a room full of guys. It’s an insanely obvious double standard. I encourage people here to actually watch this show because it really shows a lot of the pro…

that’s classic “shitty activism” you make the world a better place by leaving it better than you found it. not by stooping to the level of others.

yeah it’s just a good example of what is accepted as funny and normal because of all the upvotes and what not.

yeah it ain’t just women going “lock him up”. those men deserve to be in jail. yes there is a double standard but Chris Brown and Bill Cosby are not sufferers of that, nor should we champion them as such. This is making people here look like idiots.

Yeah... And calling what Chris Brown did “retaliation” is really downplaying it. http://m.tmz.com/#!2011/02/24/rihanna-photos-brutal-beating-chris-brown-attack-police-attack/. Just because a woman hits you doesn’t mean you get to smash the shit out of her face til she’s almost blind. All those men deserve to be in prison. And Cardi too. There are so many great men we could champion. This is not my shit. Just point out Bill got years in prison therefore Cardi should too.

Why pretend that it’s the exact same people saying this? Yes the left was apologetic towards Demi but they are pretty down with legalization and such. It’s mostly crotchety old business/fox news people freaking out about Elon and those same people would denounce Demi so I don’t get it.

It’s unfortunate that simply speaking out against this kind of ideology would have you labelled as anti-woman by so many people quick to find an enemy. I mean that’s what this article is about, any deviation from the word of “women” (as if that represents some sort of unified movement where everyone is on the same page) and you are not on their side. I think men’s rights women’s rights we want the same thing, to be freely happy and treated for our base value as humans - it’s okay for one side to…

Thanks for the good advice. I admire many people’s here ability to solo it but I also do see value in trying to make it work if it’s right, some sacrifice can be a good thing. Key is to stay on top and in control of yourself I think.

I’m all about customized, efficient spaces that optimize enjoyment. Love all those ideas. I would have to change the couch probably because I love laying down. Also cable organization is a must. You’re ideas are awesome though, wouldn’t have considered the safety factor.

Yeah trolls are not bots. They were still individual votes cast against a film - it seems they have a problem with the coordinated effort to dislike the film but that is still people voicing their opinion. So wrong. Dystopian levels of censorship.

I’m 21, in a LTR and just discovered this sub, your post is the first thing I’ve read that kind of stirred something in me. I’ve had a feeling for awhile that having kids is a bit of a “misery loves company” situation, and I’ve really started to question if I WANT kids or if the world around me has just told me I want that. I see so many men in my family and circles that seem just put out and destitute about life. I’ve been thinking more and more I may be lying to myself saying “I won’t be like …

How about this isn’t a gender issue and just a “humans are sometimes assholes” issue. I don’t like dropping to the level of radical feminism in response to it, two wrongs don’t make a right.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
