It's the covert way that companies manage the front page to get their products more visibility. Take the example of some of the super users like gallowboob. These accounts almost certainly are being used to push viral adverts that mask themselves as user generated posts. Go on r/All and it's just a sea of lego, Star Wars, marvel etc 'communities' which are in reality are gamed viral marketing campaigns. Then there is the shady business of how all the politics subs are Astro turfed to reflect only one narrow version of events.
