I think it’s funny. I’m Female, and I laughed. They should do one that is one male figure on the men’s door and then a group of women on the ladies’ door, since we go in groups.

Absolutely. And the hypocritical thing about feminism is that, instead of distancing from the "patriarchy," it actively moves women into traditionally male spheres and then assesses their value on how good they are at being men. A man pursuing engineering and a woman keeping house are just as valuable as one another, but in different spheres with different rewards.

One of the terrifying things about the virus and lockdown is that women are staying home and liking it. Not scientific, but my social media traffic since March has largely had women speaking positively about gardens, taking care of homes, and raising their own kids. Many say they can’t imagine going back. It’s a nightmare for feminists who have always known that a significant percentage of women would choose to stay home and care for their families if they could.

FFS. Equality is one thing, but flat out trying to erase men is quite another.

And, very likely, the actual risk of sexual assault is significantly smaller. One person committing a real assault would outweigh the benefits of hiring many competent people. Unless, of course, by “assault” they mean “he glanced at my boobs for three seconds.”

So, basically we’re saying this is a game that teaches women can’t beat men unless they are given an unfair advantage?

Sigh. If feminists could learn the difference between a gamete and a zygote, that would be great.

“It’s not rape if the victim wanted it.” Jeez. This woman would cry blue murder if someone said that about a woman.

Exactly. Get on the daggone escalator if you want up faster. In a way, this is a perfect metaphor for reality. Literally the only thing stopping me from taking the escalator is a blue paint job. If I can’t find the will to overcome that, I deserve to take the stairs.

What an insulting bit of bullshit. Women are not disadvantaged compared to men.

Feminists: We want men to express their emotions more. Also feminists: Men are incapable of experiencing emotional trauma.

Yep. But it's profoundly annoying. Most of the time, if you look at something that men "have," it's because they aren't afraid to put themselves out there. They get shot down, they ask for more than they might qualify for, they try for things that may not be prepared for. And, a certain percentage of the time, they get what they want. Women need to learn to do that.
/r/AntiFeminists09/01/19 07:19 PM

Yes. I recently organized a panel discussion, and our experts in this specific subject turned out to be male. I got all kinds of complaints from women, but not a one that wanted to sit on the panel or help organize the next one.

So, on a sub explicitly called AskFeminists, it’s a cause for banning if you don’t know the things they think you should know? The further left these women get, the more they start to sound like a bad 1970s parody of the housewife who won’t tell her husband what she wants then makes him sleep on the couch when he can’t guess.

It’s really tough to figure what annoys me more: the fragile flower nature of someone who can’t have give and take with a man without calling it “mansplaining,” or the lack of mathematical understanding inherent in saying there’s a wage gap.

Seriously, has anyone actually been shamed for menstruating in at least 60 years? I will never understand the feminist obsession with fighting battles already won. Yeah, I bleed once a month. I have tampons in my bag. I like a little privacy when I change them. Nobody is shaming me over it.

All of the victims in your data set may have been women, but not every woman has been a victim. There’s a world of difference between being slipped a roofie and sitting with your hand over the top of your cup, and doing the latter does not make me a victim. #notme

The way to minimise their effect on you is to take precautions to ensure that they can't do bad things to you. This exactly. It’s lovely to imagine a crime free world, but back here in reality, it’s everyone’s best bet to make themselves less of a target.

Well, I was being charitable with the 36 hours... But seriously, I didn’t have a problem with victims of a single perpetrator coming together to point out the scope of someone’s crime. I do have a serious problem with pointing to all men and saying they are either guilty or complicit.

You had a huge destabilization when Hillary lost because the entire establishment liberal structure was organized around the assumption she would win. Many of the anticipated changes would have minimized US power in the world in favor of a one world government and turn the US into a de facto matriarchy. What can you do? Seriously, consider making better connections with female Trump supporters. Whether or no you personally like him, we ladies who voted for him did so in large part because we did…

MeToo has been a terrible thing. I think the idea is fine in limited circumstances: For example, someone like Harvey Weinstein could use his power over people’s careers to buy their silence, but he can be publicly shamed by a group Of his victims standing together. Otherwise, this BS coming from many of my fellow women that all women have been victims is untrue and harmful. Society just keeps doubling down on telling men how reprehensible they are, then wonders why we have some small fraction of…

Sigh. Back in the day, people weren’t so obtuse about consent. A hand creeping into unexplored territory met with a sigh of pleasure. An “I really shouldn’t” charmed into a “why the heck not.” An understanding that the pursuit is as much foreplay as anything else a man might do. Thank God I’m married; I’d never make it trying to date in this climate.
/r/MensRights25/05/18 05:04 AM

The marriage license is consent. When you are single, the presumption is that the answer is no until it becomes a yes (opt-in, if you like). When you are married, it is opt-out; the presumption is yes until someone says no.

Not speaking for the developing world, but in the first world, namely the US, name ONE THING I don’t have equal access or right to as a woman compared to men. I hate the idea of “toxic” anything, but if there is toxic masculinity, there sure as heck is toxic femininity. All of those women out there who stand in the way of other women succeeding or even having a divergent opinion. I have had to fight for a voice far more among women than I ever have among men.

Also, Rago makes a waist nipper that is more like a 1950s corset. It comes in a sexy red and black (in addition to white, ecru, and black), and it will accomplish a bit of waist training. I’m a natural hourglass, but I can achieve some waist training results if I wear those maybe 3-4 days a week for 5-6 hours. And the look when you are wearing one: pure pin-up!

If I want the credit for working hard and earning the good things I’ve accomplished (family, career), then I can’t say the bad things I’ve experienced are systemic oppression. It just doesn’t work that way. Yes, there are people in the world who are oppressed. First world women who have the time and the education to construct an entire ideology called feminism almost certainly are not.

For me, sexual harassment has to pass two tests: it must be based primarily on sexuality (not just gender), and the person doing it must refuse to quit when asked. In your example, “Gee, you’re pretty,” isn’t sexual, even if “pretty” is normally applied to women, not men. Secondly, if I were in the office (for example) and replied, “Thank you, but please don’t say that in front of our clients,” and it stopped, it would simply be an unwanted behavior that I corrected. It wouldn’t rise to the leve…

”theory of the political, economic and social equality of the sexes" If this was how everyone used the term, it would be a no-brained, but it seems to have a secondary meaning that encompasses victim status, pro-abortion activities, over-emphasis on intersectionality, and a belief about how one should vote. That’s where you lose me completely.

Hey, my first post in this sub - let’s start it off with a controversial one, I guess. I think this is bullshit. Women are aroused by sex - studies have shown women can be aroused by watching animals mate, and that doesn’t mean Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom is porn. It also doesn’t mean we want to be involved in everything sexual. Personally, I’m a Kinsey 0. Women are great, but I have no desire to sleep with one or even touch in a sexual way. I think they’re trying to make the case that sexual…

WTactualF? If my husband goes first, I will be devastated. He is my other half, my happiness. I don’t want alone time with his money; I want him! When did we start taking data we don’t understand and just writing fiction around it? (Don’t bother answering that last; I have a pretty decent idea.)

Thank you so much for sharing your story with me! Things can happen. And if something bad happens, you weren’t “asking for it.” But bad circumstances are relatively rare, and there are things you can do to make yourself even safer if you think you are going into a situation with risk. If women walk around uncomfortable, powerless, and threatened, then it is partially their own doin. FWIW, I’m female. I am not for blaming the victim of a crime and holding her at fault. But if you are constantly finding yourself uncomfortable, powerless, and threatened (such that you think prison rape is even jokingly in the ballpark as an analog), then you are either opting into unnecessarily dangerous situations, or you have bought into the lie that women have no agency. That’s ridiculous. Wo…

Ok, I’m not trained as an anthropologist, but I was referring to the theory that women evolved to need to pick up subtle non-verbal signals from children as well as noticing detail to be successful gatherers. Men evolved to see big pictures and strategic movements like are needed in hunting. “Hard wired” may be the wrong term here, and certainly both are skills that can be developed, but that was the theory I was thinking of.
/r/MensRights02/11/17 01:11 AM

This is a fantastic point. (XX here, BTW). As women, we are hard wired to notice subtle shifts in tone, phrasing, and body language, and we tend to communicate that way. It works (mostly) with other women. But the least we can do is meet men halfway and not send mixed messages - which a woman would probably get - and expect he can put together the complex message puzzle in a heartbeat. If we want something, like a certain behavior, we need to know how to say so clearly.

Looking at the rest of the thread, you were also asking why tampons over pads or anything else. I must say I’ve not heard anyone articulate a convincing reason for tampons over pads or menstrual cups or anything else. My assumption is that most women opt for tampons because they find them less visible (obviously) and more comfortable (debatable). Also, I have a feeling that, since tampons are the feminine hygiene product that arguably allows you to most “forget” you are menstruating, it does the…

You are correct. There was a lot of attention drawn to TSS in the 1980s when super-absorbancy tampons came onto the market, and little instruction was given about amount of time you should be able to keep one in. Now, the prevailing wisdom is to use the smallest size you need for your flow and be diligent about changing every 6-8 hours. It's also not a bad idea to change more frequently if you feel like you've been in some random situation that might introduce bacteria to the string, because the…

Female here. No, tampons are not a basic right. Rights are things like “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness,” not something that comes from Proctor & Gamble. TP may be slightly closer to something everyone should have acccess to, but even that strains logic. Fun fact: commercial forms of feminine hygiene weren’t available until circa WWI, when Kotex changed purpose from being a bandage company. Prior to that, women were able to do all sorts of things with DIY feminine hygiene.

Title IX Itself was written in 1972 and was famous for mandating equal access/funding for activities like sports. What the Obama administration did was author the 2011 Dear Colleague Letter that, among other things, instructed universities to use a standard of “preponderance of evidence” to determine guilt in sexual assault cases. This is a fairly low bar to clear.

This is a very good point. We penalize boys for things they are biologically more likely to do or need, like fidgeting and needing more activity. We tell them that they are prone to exhibiting “toxic masculinity.” We even criticize the way they sit, calling it “manspreading” and making it an affront against women. (I assume it is simply more comfortable.) For certain parts of the population, the only thing a man could do to atone for these sins is essentially become a woman. This is not OK. I li…

Thanks for your response! I believe there is evidence that boys and girls mature at different rates in different skills (verbal, spatial, etc.), and one could make an argument where a single-sex activity of some sort levels the playing field during maturation. I would not swear to this, because childhood development is not my field. Mostly, I know that I occasionally like being in the company of only women, and I assume many men like occasionally being with all men. For that to work effectively …

I’m female, so if this is not a perspective OP is looking for, feel free to ignore from your data set. I do consider myself a men’s rights advocate. I think one of the things feminism could do better is acknowledge that most of us don’t live female-only lives. We are daughters, wives, mothers, aunts, and friends. Some of the messages of feminism leave the impression that I, as a woman, should want another woman to get a job over my husband, or that I should want to send a son to college and pote…

As far as I'm concerned, whoever is providing the most financial support gets a pass on some of the household chores. In a good economic year, my husband can make far more than I can; it's my pleasure to make sure he has clean underwear and doesn't have to stop by he grocery on the way home. And this is definitely a men's rights issue, because we have come to expect men to work full time as well as doing half or more of the chores, while women are supposed to get the option to choose to work at …

Yeah, I'm gathering that the article omitted some context, like maybe the woman was in the parents' room feeding her child, and the man walked in to change a nappy. She told him he should leave, and he basically countered with a "you first." This shit infuriates me. If you are going to insist on a parents' room or unisex facility, it is for everyone. HAHAHAHA! The more men and women have access to the same opportunities, the more feminists want to create false dichotomies. I am a woman, and I guarantee you that a conservative-estimate 90% of my day has absolutely nothing to do with my sex or my gender. When it does, it is largely because it is my pleasure to make it so, like opting to wear feminine clothing rather than androgynous options. Otherwise, it typically only comes up when I use the restroom.

Agree. This woman is somehow conflating "respect women" and "act like a woman" in the most harmful, stereotypical way possible. I'll bet she'd reject these statements using the same logic: *I believe that ballet is just for girls. *If I want my daughter to love and respect men, I'm going to sign her up for football. Ridiculous.
