Totally get you dude and feel same way. Be careful about other’s comments because we are all different and what works for some is not what is good for you. I got divorced over two years ago and dating an awesome woman for over a year. Sex and company is great but we live an hour apart and not yet ready to cohabitate due to jobs and shared child custody geographic needs. Some people love independence and autonomy and alone time. But I am someone who values doing things with others and like compan…

I’ve seen that happen to others too and agree.

My ex does not have some else yet and says she is not interested in dating. She only has a couple of friends and says she feels sad and lonely most of the time. My situation may not be like yours. I believe my ex truly had a sexual dysfunction, but may not be what’s going on for you. In my experience, women are different than men in that most will shut down sex if there is a not the right emotional connection. They will also do so if they found a connection with someone else which is why many pe…

I was in the same situation more than half of my 20 years of marriage and finally made move to get divorced a couple years ago in my early 50s. I still care about my ex, but am much happier now. It was not the only reason for my divorce (some fighting and anger too) but more than half of it. Sex is an important part of any relationship and it doesn’t work without it IMO. I see some people are quick to assume she is cheating. That is one possible reason for that behavior but not the only possibil…

It’s sucks because you probably haven’t completed moved on yet, but that’s to be expected only 8 months out. Despite what was good in your relationship that you may miss, you and she may have fundamentally different values if you feel her work is degrading and she does not. Best to accept it as a good thing that you’ve identified now versus later and keep moving along with your divorce. It’s painful- hang in there. Better days ahead.

Life is too short to have a life you don’t want. I disagree with the comment that it is your typical marriage. Although it seems like she is the one who needs a therapist I do agree with advice to go to one yourself. I think they will give you some clarity about your options and you might decide divorce is best or possibly find a more productive way to talk to your wife. Yes divorce is truly awful to go through, but I found I was much happier after I finally made the jump.

Great advice that I wish I had and followed when I got divorced last year. But I may still be able to benefit from it. Even now that it’s over and I’m happier with no regrets, I still feel some sadness that she is unhappy and alone. We were married over 20 years and I feel badly that she is doing poorly with the adjustment.

Totally agree. Not a healthy dynamic for you and not what marriage is supposed to be. It’s a painful step but when that love is gone I don’t think there is anything that will bring it back. Best wishes to you and to better days ahead.

Yes I know the feeling for sure. I’ve been on my own 15 months and still adjusting. My nature is that I don’t want to burden others or assume people don’t really care, but if you do have trusted friends or family to share with, often you’ll find that they do care and will be very supportive. As far as other people embracing their new life alone, just keep in mind that we’re all different and it’s for some and not others. I like having people around because if gives me a sense of community and st…
