Her coworker is even skinnier than I am (she has a type). So as much as I will continue working on my physique, it's not the part I'm most worried about regarding my marriage. I'm not asking how to stop her from cheating. I know I can't stop her, even if I do everything perfectly. I re-read Steel's Guide. Third, don’t open your mouth if what will come out of it is unattractive. Be attractive. Don’t be unattractive. Call it the attractive filter on your mouth. Don’t say stupid stuff. Don’t say st…

tease her on her crush, don't be serious or worried I considered this approach. I've done agree and amplify with decent results in the past. But I'm afraid if I make a joke she'll laugh but then make it serious and ask if I'm actually jealous or have an issue with her behavior. I am jealous and worried but obviously don't want her to know that. Trying to get to a place where I'm not but easier said than done.

Any suggestions for what to do that I'm not already doing? I'm eating a few hundred calories above my TDEE. I'm getting at least .8g per pound of protein per day. In the gym three days a week. Bench, dumbbell incline bench, overhead machine press, cable flys, overhead cable tricep ext, pull-ups, dumbbell row, smith row, curls, RDLs, smith squat, machine leg ext, deficit lunges. I always take the last set to failure. I try to do progressive overload every week (though depending on the exercise it…

But I don't know hot to respond if she questions me about it. If she asks "Do you have a problem with me getting lunch with him?" or "Do you think it's okay that we go on walks?", how am I supposed to answer? Cold but honest? Lie and say it's okay but don't over do it? Make a joke about them fucking? I don't want to say something that's going to make me appear insecure, needy, unattractive. But I also don't want to give explicit or tacit approval since I do not approve of her behavior.

next week I’m starting Starting Strength again. SS is a great foundation but don't make the mistake I did by staying with it for too long. I spent years doing strength training with little progress and results. If like most of us you're more interested in looking bigger and better instead of just getting stronger, eventually move onto hypertrophy training. I finally did and saw change almost immediately.

Try a different one. No harm in trying. You will understand after quitting for 6 months Couple years ago I quit for Lent but then kept going for at least a year. Don't remember feeling any different, other than a sense of pride. Although, I might've met my wife during that period... I'll give it a shot. Thanks.

My increasing dysmorphia has had me looking more closely at my body lately. And I just did a little bit of research and found that I believe I have an atypical kind of pectus called "platythorax", meaning I don't have a "bowl" indent so much as the entire chest is flat. This is mind blowing to find out. Explains a lot. I'll talk to my gp and see what he says. I'm in a city with lots of specialists so I'm fortunate there. I saw a respiratory doc a few years ago after a lung scare. X-Rays and stuff. He didn't seemed terribly concerned about the pectus, other than telling me my lungs are at greater risk of collapse so don't smoke and don't scuba dive. I'll still bring it up to my GP next time.

Good stuff, thanks. That's the societal conditioning talking. Are you afraid of coming off as a creep? Ask yourself why you need to justify it. I think the honest answer is I'm just not that good at gaming. Writing this out I just realized: when I initiate I'm usually commenting on something visually observable or happening in the moment. When I initiate a second time it ought to be more personal, more casually conversational but I'm instead grasping for props. No good. Next time you're going at…

Well I used to post my lifts and I didn't get very far so clearly it didn't help then. I'm getting rid of things that hinder me from posting every week. BTW, I knew a 6'8" guy with pectus excavatum. He fucking slayed pussy because he was still tall and had a 6 pack and didn't suck. Good to hear. I wouldn't be putting in the effort if I didn't think I could get to a point where I didn't suck (less). I'm aware at least half of my unattractiveness isn't the physical stuff. Post on tuesday I meant to. I failed. Post your lifts. Every week. Especially if they suck. I used to but stopped cause it's a pain in the ass, nobody reads them, and I have them written in my gym notebook. They do suck though. Pop a viagra and go twice while you figure out your PE. I had forgotten that practicing game in the wild is one of the ways to go about it. Catch and release, get social proof, etc. I'm not interested in actually getting a number but I can spark up a few conversations. This lines up with how long I am willing to wait for genuine desire. The fact that she wants to be tethered indicates the value. Ignore the mouth noises afterwards “you know I’m only doing this for you” is a shit test. Understood. Give direction/lead on what genuine desire looks like to you and see if she follows through on that. I thought she had genuine desire when we got married but that turned out to be not so true. Very skinny, though less so since I've put on weight. That and the height doesn't really bother me. The jokes are fine (the opposite of love is indifference). It's the way my body is fucked up that makes me look awkward. My bad posture, sunken chest with a protruding stomach from my arched lower back is a terrible look. The way I have to sink my my chin into my neck to talk to people or bend over to hear people at parties. Just makes me look all deformed. Luckily I've been blessed with broad sho…

I disagree with your fitness section, if you are training for long-term muscle gain effort is probably the single most important factor with the caveat just do it in a rep range reduces risk for injury. I don't mean to make it sound like I'm coasting through reps. I'm just no longer doing the last few with shit form. I'm feeling *more* fatigued despite the lower weight. And the last set is always AMRAP. Also most of the muscleskelatel issues you describe may improve from greater musculature. I'm…

I appreciate it. I feel like I've been climbing for years but have barely made any progress. I think that in order for me to progress there have to be actual tangible consequences for short-term failure rather than abstract ones but I haven't implemented any. I will look into creating some.

Good question. I suppose belief in the idea that if things went south I'd be okay. Belief in Rollo's idea that happiness is not a level of achievement that doesn't requirement maintenance but a proximate state that is found in the *doing*. Belief that my ego can be taken down a peg without getting destroyed. Making my goals my most important focus rather than my wife's happiness. Her happiness is not my responsibility. Having a plan, short term and long term. Belief that I am the prize.

I guess I can't so easily accept that there's *nothing* I can do. I know that I can't control the outcome, but can I not have an influence? I can't control the stock market, but I can make smart moves with my investments, can't I? In the same way, I see my wife as an emotional, financial, and time investment that I'd rather not see gone. I might lose all my money in a market crash tomorrow, and if I did I'd eventually get over it and rebuild... but I'd rather not. I have hobbies, including a wee…

Better looking, higher status and higher-paying job, beautiful girlfriend, drives a cooler car, probably funnier than I am. I wouldn't have passed that same shit test as well as he did. The one thing I have going for me more than him is that I'm several years older. I'm not trying to put myself down, just being objective. Sex Been a year since our last "talk" about her low libido. Did not see any effort on her part to do anything about it. I know the onus is on me to be more fuckable and that genuine desire can't be negotiated, but her inaction shows me how little dread or desire she really feels. In my efforts to pull away time and attention I realize I'm instead coming across as pouty and butthurt, at least in my face and body language. Must change this. The feminine grows through praise. Are you actively praising your wife when she does something you like? You can't just show her your appreciation through action like giving her a good dicking, she needs to hear it too. "I love when you make me feel good, babe." I am missing some I am missing some context here. You're right, I'm making it needlessly complicated. Yes, the party was just strangers. But it also happens with friends. They don't ignore me, but I always have to be the one to initiate. I don’t think these are real comfort tests. This is fishing for compliments/validation. I suppose because on my last set I try to do AMRAP, and since I can barely finish the minimum 5 reps as is, why add even more weight? Perhaps that's the entire point... Because she adds value to your life. She assists you in achieving your mission. She does this either directly by literally helping you, or indirectly by taking trivial things off your hands so you can better focus on reaching those goals. If she isn't adding value to your life, or the value you get can be maintained by keeping her a plate, don't make her an LTR. The way my priest explained it recently finally made sense: "turn the other cheek" is a response to the old jewish law of retaliation. "An eye for an eye". Meaning, if someone had wronged you or harmed you in some way, it was your recognized right to retaliate in kind. If they cut your arm, you got to cut their arm in return. Turning the other cheek was Jesus' way of saying that way of doing things was no more. If someone wronged you, forgive them and move on. Do not retaliate. Even if you "dese…

Melatonin. I had to use 10mg to sleep, partially to offset the caffeine. It made me groggy in the morning, basically a daily hangover. Over the past three months I’ve tapered down to 0mg. I finished Manson’s Models, which probably didn’t help me all that much at this stage... The main take away should be the same whether you're married or single -- that women are repulsed by neediness. Your wife doesn't want to fuck someone who needs her validation, her approval, or her permission.

OYS is not your journal. I know I'm only a few OYS's in but this is something I'm struggling with. I often write about something I've observed, rather than something I'm doing. Fuck I'm doing it right now.

You're right. Not only am I skinny, I'm also weak as shit. But I'm working on it. Slowly but surely.

Oh yeah, I'm skinny as fuck. My saving grace is that I'm very broad-shouldered so it doesn't look quite as bad, but still, yes I am a rail. I started bulking back in... I don't remember, a year ago or so? I got up to 193lbs before Covid hit so it's definitely possible -- and actually not as difficult as I feared. Though at the time I wasn't keeping track of my bodyfat so I'm not sure how much was muscle. Probably not much. I will reevaluate once my job returns in the next few weeks and whenever …

But that is just an "out" so I can justify whatever I am failing. It is possible that I am just using my current circumstances as an out. But I figure as I'm currently losing money being on unemployment an extra 1500 calories a day adds up. And with gyms still closed I don't know how much muscle I'm putting on doing just bodyweight exercises. Just seems like a waste of money and effort at the moment. I am making sure I'm still meeting my protein goals if that means anything. Here's a couple su…

Relationship Lots of room for improvement on my end, but it's very good. The fianceé and I get along great. Overtime I've learned to drop the "happy wife happy life" mentality I had in previous relationships. Realized that avoiding discomfort and confrontation isn't good for anyone. Despite making these improvements (slowly) over the years, reading NMMNG and WISNIFG was still a wake-up call like it is for so many. I've been fighting that feeling of shame for having my own wants and needs. Lookin…
