In the same episode, the professor stated that 80% of childless women in their 40’s wanted to have children and just didn’t, 10% outright did not want children and 10% could not have children for one physical reason or another. The number one reason the 80% of childless women who wanted children gave for not having children was not finding the right partner at the right time. I think your premise is largely correct. A 32-year-old woman already in a marriage or with who she believes is her lifelo…

You are correct about life spans in medieval times, Ancient Rome, China’s best ancient dynasties, etc. If they made it out of early childhood without some disease killing them, people did regularly live well into their 50’s and beyond. But I’m not talking about after the advent of civilization. I’m talking pre-historical times. Hunter/gatherer times. Then, it was really rare to make into your 30’s because of malnutrition and disease. There’s a big jump in living standards between Rome and cave m…

This is one of those problems where human biology lags behind human sociology. Human female fertility developed hundreds of thousands of years ago. Obviously, living conditions then bare no resemblance to living conditions now. So we are stuck with human fertility that developed in a world where women didn’t make it much past 20 and rarely made it to 35. The result is that women today face a really difficult dilemma. If you wait until you are economically ready for children, you might not be bio…

Agreed. But we should want women to make the most informed decision possible based upon the best possible data. The Modern Wisdom podcast recently had an episode with a professor who is studying demographics and the coming population collapse. This professor’s research produced a stat that I found surprising and I still can’t believe it’s true. This professor said that if a woman, anywhere in the world, is childless at 30, she has only a 50% chance of ever having a child. So, according to his re…

Your comment actually made me realize that the last sentence of my comment was wrong. It was too harsh. I’m man enough to admit when I’m wrong. And I was wrong in saying that your particular sexual fetish was “weird”. I erased that sentence. As someone who believes in individual freedom, I sincerely apologize.

I do not give “normal” a positive or negative connotation. Lots of abnormal things are positive. Musical genius is abnormal but it obviously isn’t negative. I meant normal in terms of usual vs. unusual. I think you would admit your fetish is unusual. Certainly nothing wrong with it. It just isn’t common.

It’s ok. I’m going to assume you are young and fairly inexperienced. Let me make it clear that porn isn’t real life sex. As in, not even close. Porn is to sex what Star Wars is to real space flight. I cannot imagine a normal, real life woman caring one iota about the amount of semen you produce.

It is getting attention because people are interested in the topic. Media is a for profit business. It’s also a copy cat business. Articles and videos about men suffering are now getting clicks, which means revenue for those media outlets. The question is why do podcasts, articles and videos about male suffering now get clicks? Enough men are now suffering that it’s beginning to have economic and societal effects. Corporations are losing workers and profits. Women aren’t finding partners. These …

Thank you for this comment. Properly drafted prenups where both parties have their own separate counsel will be upheld. So many men comment that their buddy had a prenup and a judge tore it up and gave the ex-wife everything. It simply isn’t true. Spend the money on a lawyer and get a real prenup that is appropriate for your jurisdiction. Don’t print s boilerplate agreement off the internet and have her sign it a day before the wedding. Also, prenups cannot change or alter child support. The rea…

If you look at the trends, marriage rates are falling significantly and approximately 60% of men under 30 describe themselves as single. Certainly some of those men will marry but just as many will divorce. This isn’t an exact science and no one knows exactly how many unattached men we are going to have moving forward. But it’s safe to say the days of 90+% of men marrying in their lifetime are over. Based on current trends, it’s reasonable to posit that about half of men in Gen Z and subsequent …

Some men are depressed and suffer from anxiety due to their brain chemistry and no lifestyle changes are going to fix them. David Foster Wallace (author of Infinite Jest) was like that. He, and men like him, need real medical attention, i.e. medication, behavioral therapy, etc. I don’t mean to belittle those men in the slightest. Sadly, David Foster Wallace did not get the medical attention he needed. But most men could get rid of their depression and anxiety with lifestyle changes. AJ Soprano d…

Well stated, comment. I like that you mention love. Men need to learn that we are allowed to love things besides a woman and any children we produce. It’s ok to love hobbies, your friends, etc. It’s healthy to do so.

It certainly can be. I wish more guys would realize that a bachelor’s life is still a worthwhile life. It can be filled with joy and fulfillment. You don’t need a family, but you do need human connection and a purpose. I’m far more concerned about the decline in male friendships than I am in the decline of marriage and relationships. Not much men can do about the decline in marriage and relationships, but there is plenty men can do about the decline in friendships.

I’m not suggesting they all work 80 hours a week at jobs they hate just so they can pay taxes. That sounds horrible. I am suggesting they earn enough money that they can support themselves at whatever economic level they think is best for them. I then suggest to these men that they develop friendships and hobbies and take care of themselves physically. I’m suggesting these men make themselves as strong as possible in mind, body and soul. But I am beginning to realize many guys won’t do that. Ins…

I do think about half of men should forget the idea of dating and marriage. The problem is that a lot of men aren’t willing to admit to themselves they are part of the half that should quit. But the reality is, about half (maybe slightly more) of all men are never going to find a long term female companion. For a host of reasons, female standards have risen exponentially and they aren’t coming back down. So these men need to acknowledge that the love of their life isn’t coming. They have two cho…

The laws governing property distribution after divorce are literally medieval. They haven’t been updated. Which is why a wife keeps the house instead of having to buy out the husband’s half interest in it. If the house is worth $100,000 on the open market, the person staying in the house should pay the other $50,000 for the right to stay there. Divorce and family law should operate like business and commercial law to better reflect the realities of modern times. Instead, the law still treats mar…

“She’s bored” is the number one reason for divorce. Not him cheating, not him beating. It’s why most young men should not get married. You aren’t going to please her for decades. Unless you are a truly high value male, you should not get married. 40 years is a long time and you have to keep her happy for all of it. If you don’t, “she’s bored” is going to get you and then you’ll be at the mercy of literally medieval divorce and property laws.

I’m not a woman, but I don’t think this is a very good premise. The reality is most women aren’t choosing either of these men. Pat can look like non-Thor Chris Hemsworth and most women won’t go near him . . . because of the TWO KILLINGS!

I think you are right about all of that. But people don’t think that long term. Especially women. I don’t think the typical woman is going to put up with a man for decades just so her retirement can be easier.

Divorce rates have stabilized because the dysfunctional couples that still got married in the 70’s and 80’s, even into the 90’s, don’t even get married now. Marriage is becoming an elitist activity for the upper middle class. Working class and lower middle class couples have kids out of wedlock and then break up without ever getting married. So I won’t be surprised that as the marriage rate drops, the divorce rate will drop with it.

A large portion of men will not “go” their own way voluntarily, they will be “sent” their own way involuntarily. Now that women are financially independent, they can afford to be by themselves. An increasing number of women are single and that percentage continues to increase. I think we are looking at a future where about 50% of women never marry or cohabitate with a man. It appears women are better at being single than men, on average. Women are choosier than men and there just aren’t enough h…

You’re almost right. But not quite. For Social Security to be solvent, the government could have never borrowed from it in the first place. Meaning, the government would have had to leave all the yearly Social Security surpluses alone for the last 60+ years. But the government didn’t do that. The government began borrowing from the yearly Social Security surpluses almost immediately in the 1940’s and really began to borrow from them with LBJ’s Great Society in the 1960’s. So those yearly Social …

Correct. Falling birthrates are an enormous future economic problem. For all of us. There won’t be enough future workers to pay for future old people (and the future old people is you and me). So unless you want to live a destitute life as an old person, or you want to work until the day you die, the birthrate needs to increase and soon. But single motherhood is NOT the way to do it. I may not know what the answer is, but I know what the answer isn’t.

Ah yes, the old Reddit “cite 14 triple peer reviewed studies or you’re lying” trope. Listen, I’m not making this stuff up. No, it isn’t one gender. It’s both. It’s human nature. Humans spent thousands of years building up monogamy. Civilizing the natural mating tendencies of both males and females. We’ve spent the last 50-60 years setting aside most of that civilizing. When you set aside the socially enforced monogamy that restrained the natural human mating habits, what we are left with are unrestrained natural mating habits. And our unrestrained natural mating habits are basically those of our primate cousins, whi…

I think you’ve explained why in the coming generations we are going to see less marriage, more childless women, and more serial monogamy. The reality is, the average male cannot meet the emotional needs of the average female for decades and decades. Men and women just aren’t emotionally compatible enough. Too emotionally different and these differences become quite stark as time passes. Women start becoming dissatisfied at about the 6 year range, on average. As marriage and children become less …
/r/PurplePillDebate02/02/23 02:23 PM

I believe we are talking about two different things. I’m looking at trends and extrapolating those trends into the future and you are focused on a snapshot of how things are right now. The premise of this thread is “will marriage and monogamy only be for the elites in the future?” We aren’t talking about the mating market today, in 2023. So the question is how do we see mating in the next generation or two. It’s pretty clear which way the trends are going. Women are not becoming less promiscuous…

I believe people fall in love, but I don’t believe people stay in love, particularly women. There is ample evidence to show that a significant percentage (maybe up to half) of women become dissatisfied in their marriage and relationships in the 6-8 year range. Even more women become dissatisfied in their relationships by year 20. True, some of that dissatisfaction will be because the man is unfaithful, addicted to drugs, or a bad person in some other way. I’m UMC as well and I agree most of us marry and stay married. The UMC divorce rate is pretty low and I think that’s in large part due to UMC women still feeling a little shame about divorce. Not pre-1960’s level shame, but still enough shame to prevent UMC women from filing for divorce in huge numbers. But as the number of high value men continues to decrease, the demand for them will increase. Will the dwindling number of high value men (most of whom will be UMC) continue to marry when the dem…

Marriage is not a dead concept for the upper middle class, but marriage is all but dead for the poor and working class. What I’m curious to see is if marriage remains relevant to the UMC. Will male doctors, lawyers, top salesmen, etc. continue to get married at the high rates they do now? Hard to say. They certainly won’t need to marry to get sex, but will they continue to marry for other reasons? I believe UMC women will still want to marry as a status symbol. Having a husband will be like havi…

Stats say otherwise. Even a cursory Google search produces evidence that the average woman has more friends than the average man. This becomes even more true with age. And even if all those sexless guys ARE incel losers, why do we have so many now compared to just 20-30 years ago? And why are their numbers rising? I think you nailed it. Anyone below upper middle class will not marry and form nuclear families. Even now, marriage rates among the working class have plummeted. This will increase income inequality to an even greater extent and no government program can prevent that. Roughly 70% of African American babies today are born to single mothers. Women tend to form friend groups much better than men do. Someone has probably studied why that’s the case and can explain it, but it’s definitely true. An older woman with a friend group of 4-10 other women will not need male companionship. This notion that old women become miserable “cat ladies” is largely based on past societal norms that no longer exist. I’m sure there are some older, single ladies without friends, but I’d wager that’s a small minority. A 40+ year old woman with a friend gro…

I think you’re probably right about American men, in particular. I honestly don’t know about foreign men. But in America, the type of man that will get this is not the type of man that has many unwanted pregnancies anyway. Upper middle class males mate mostly with upper middle class females and very few unwanted pregnancies result from these relationships. Hakeem from Chicago, Jose from New Mexico, and Rusty from West Virginia won’t be doing this.

Most women don’t want multiple men at a single time. The pattern that seems to be developing is that women want one man for a certain number of years, then a new man for a few years, and so on. The trend that seems to be developing is that women enjoy serial monogamy with bouts of single hood in between. And older women 60+ increasingly don’t want men at all.

I think a woman starting a family at 45 is almost impossible. I think it’s even difficult at 35. Not impossible, but difficult. Many women 35 and older often struggle with infertility and require medical treatment to conceive. Media and culture highlights the women 35 and older that can conceive naturally as the norm. But is really is 50/50 at that age and the odds get worse every year. By 42-43, the odds of natural conception without fertility drugs or in vitro are really stacked against women.…

We actually are compelled to act on them. But don’t have to act on every compulsion. Humanity used to copulate like animals. We then spent thousands of years taking both male and female sexuality through religion, economics, and various other mechanisms we call “civilization”. But isn’t that female pickiness THE KEY PIECE OF EVIDENCE that men desire sex more than women? Two people are hungry and a bowl of pickled beets (the worst food I can think of) is put before them. One of the best things that can happen to a person is a wonderful marriage. One of the worst things that can happen to a person is a bad marriage. That unpredictability is the problem. There is no way to know whether you are entering into a bad marriage or a good one. If there was such a way, there would be no divorce because no one would willingly enter into a bad marriage. If you aren’t religious, I see no reason to marry. Legally, marriage is the stupidest contract ever devised for a host of reasons regularly discussed in this sub. So if you aren’t a person of faith, I honestly don’t know why you’re marrying. You could live the exact same life with your person without putting yourself in financial peril. The only reason to put yourself in that financial peril is that God’s (or Allah’s, Buddha’s, etc.) commandments and law’s mean something to you.

With respect, I don’t think you’ve thought this through to it’s logical conclusion. If we eliminate every person who cannot survive on their own without medical care or without help from another person, we will be killing a lot of people who might otherwise recover and live healthy lives. For example, a baby needing its mother to survive for another couple weeks or months is no different than a person needing a kidney transplant or bone marrow transplant to survive. In both scenarios, one person…

Then she should abort the baby or put it up for adoption. No one will force her to raise a baby she doesn’t want. She has those two viable choices. Men have literally no choice. It takes two people to make a baby yet only the mother has the choice of whether she wants to be a parent or not. The father should have that same choice.

The law allows women to unilaterally abort. Therefore the law does not require women to pay for babies they do not want. If the woman Carrie’s the baby to term, the obvious assumption is that she wants the baby. Men have no such option. Men don’t have the choice to abort an unwanted baby. In such a situation, men are at the mercy of women. No other area of law allows such an imbalance.

Welfare is already a thing. A vast number of women receiving child support are already receiving various state and federal welfare benefits. And allowing men to avoid child support would change female behavior to such an extent that that number of unplanned and unwanted pregnancies would decrease dramatically. There is a reason a lot fewer women had unplanned pregnancies pre-1960’s changes in child support laws. If they know they will be left totally on their own with the baby, women won’t allow…

Pregnancy is not a unilateral decision. Carrying a pregnancy to full term, however, is a unilateral decision under current law. That needs to change. The law doesn’t force women to pay for children they don’t want. The law does force men to pay for children they do not want. That is fundamentally unfair and should change.

I don’t think a military life is conducive to modern relationships. For a variety of reasons too complicated to discuss on Reddit, modern romantic relationships cannot withstand the military lifestyle. But few things will shape a lazy, timid, unmotivated young man into a more masculine, productive member of society better than military service. The military is great for molding 18-20 year old guys who lack direction. I agree the military probably isn’t the best place for a 28-30 year old guy wit…

/r/PurplePillDebate13/09/22 06:31 PM

Many young men would benefit from military service. The structure and discipline that used to be provided by family and community no longer exists for the majority of males. There is nothing to harness the energy and aggression a young man feels or to give them purpose. So, young men turn to vices such as drugs, porn, and video games to numb themselves. The military environment provides discipline, purpose, camaraderie, and an outlet for aggression. There is no one, single solution to this probl…

I agree that the reasons for the great resignation are not the same reasons why many young men are walking away from dating. After all, women are participating in the great resignation, too. But the reactions to both events are very similar. Porn is to sex what James Bond is to real life espionage. Or what Miami Vice is to real life police work. Exaggerated, glamorized, unrealistic versions of the real thing. If a man believes real sex should be like porn, he’s going to be extremely disappointed.

We have to be careful not to get bogged down in the minuscule stats and focus on the main issue. It is an undeniable fact that young men, in significant and ever increasing numbers, are failing to form healthy relationships with women. Relationships between the genders are breaking down. The first step in fixing a problem is acknowledging it exists.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/08/22 05:08 PM

The chart begins at 1 sex partner and continues to 15+ partners. There is no category for zero sex partners, i.e. virgins. Yet, the numbers add up to 100%. So according to this chart, between 2015-2019, there were no male virgins between the ages of 25 and 49. That doesn’t seem possible. So I do question the accuracy of the study a little bit.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/08/22 01:27 PM

Not a majority, but a significant minority are. 1/3 of men under 30 are virgins and the rates of sexlessness are increasing, i.e. getting worse. There are a multiple reasons for this. Ignoring and downplaying the problem is one such reason.

It’s the support network that helps older women so much. Older women are rarely lonely due to a significant circle of friends. So if they have already raised a family, what is there reason for finding a man in their older years? Despite what Sex in the City would have you believe, 55 year old women aren’t yearning for sex. You won’t see the 30-40% of people struggling to find companionship. They are not in public. They are at home. I agree there are steps one can take to improve the odds of finding a long term companion. But dismissing this problem because you see happy couples at a wedding or a restaurant isn’t showing compassion. About 1/3 of Gen Z is not going to have reliable, long term companionship in their adulthood. We shouldn’t just dismiss those people.

There is more tension between the genders now than ever before. It cannot be denied that relations between men and women grow more dysfunctional by the day. And OP is correct that it won’t be fixed. Another action men can take, if they are American, is to move to another country. I think it is becoming clear America has too many men. Correct. This isn’t complicated. The West has stripped thousands of years of civilization out of dating and mating. Which means we’ve reverted back to the mating rituals of our primate ancestors. The highest value man wins. Now, we are still civilized in many other respects, i.e. we don’t go around raping and pillaging each other as in pre-historical times. The idea that my daughter and her college friends find men my age attractive is laughable. And I’m fine with that. They should be dating men in their 20’s. Woody Allen movies aren’t real.

If this were true, i.e. dad pays so taxpayers don’t have to, then child support would not be based on the dad’s income. Child support would simply be a standard amount sufficient to put the child just above the poverty line such that the child wouldn’t qualify for government assistance. And not a penny more. Child support isn’t calculated that way. Instead, it is a percentage of dad’s income. Child support is nothing more than a program to transfer wealth from men to women, which is exactly what…

In the near future the bottom 50% or so of men will fulfill their needs with some combination of AI, VR, and legalized prostitution. Having a relationship with an actual human female will be a luxury item out of reach for a large number of men. Having a girlfriend or wife in the near future will be a status symbol akin to a Rolex, Mercedes, or expensive house.

“getting into the top 20% is not that hard”. For 80%, it literally is that hard. I’m all for self improvement. We should all maximize the gifts and talents God gave us. But most guys will not be good looking in an online dating sense no matter many weights they lift or how much salmon they eat. Online dating negates 90% of the ways in which men can attract women. But on apps we know what women find attractive because we have incontrovertible data. And height is a big (no pun intended) factor. So, if you are a man and not near the top 20% of men in physical appearance, you will struggle on dating apps because your other qualities such as wit, erudition, charm, etc…

With the advent of the internet, the rise of online dating and the rise in female economic independence over the last two generations, we are seeing that the 80/20 rule is basically true. It really isn’t anymore complicated than this. Men served women biologically in three ways. Protect women from marauders, make sure women don’t starve to death, and sire children. Well, civilization has solved problems 1 and 2, and these women do not yet care about number three. My guess is many of these women will care about having children in ten years, but they clearly don’t right now. So, men don’t serve much purpose.

Maybe Chappelle’s point was to equate financial abandonment to abortion, but that isn’t my point. I want to prevent single parenthood because evidence is overwhelming that kids of single parents don’t thrive, on the average. If men can financially abandon a child, and women know this ahead of time, women will be more careful with whom they breed.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/08/19 02:31 PM

That does happen, but the rates of unwanted pregnancies for UMC girls is also dramatically smaller than for working class girls. That’s anecdotal, but the statistics also bear it out.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/08/19 02:21 PM

Respectfully disagree. UMC women have very small rates of unwanted pregnancies because the subculture in which they live looks down on it so prevalently. If Hollywood celebrities come out against single parenthood half as strongly as they berate Trump, it would have an enormous impact. Culture matters. Most people don’t go against their culture. I agree that the man should have a time limit in which to make this decision, but it can’t be before the third trimester. In many cases, we don’t know who the father is until the baby is actually born. The man should have the right to financially abandon the child within a certain amount of time after he knows, or should have known, the child is his. 120 days, six months, something like that. But the man must have ample time after it’s proven he’s the father to make this important decision.

I have. It was a sizable number of people, but still a very small part of the overall population. And the evangelical movement had some influence over politics, but not a lot. Democrats still controlled Congress in the 80’s and Bill Clinton won two terms in the 90’s. Evangelicals had absolutely no impact whatsoever on pop culture. Christianity hasn’t been the dominant force is American life for decades. I don’t even think this is debatable, to be honest.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/07/19 04:48 PM

Religion is not the only reason for having babies in wedlock. Liberal, upper class America in 2019 is not religious at all and yet their rates of illegitimate births are microscopic. Economic and cultural pressure prevents out of wedlock births more than anything else.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/07/19 04:30 PM
1

I don’t know how anyone can say a generation raised after 1980 was raised religious. That just isn’t true. The WWII generation was the last generation that was, on the whole, religious. Yes, there are religious Baby Boomers, but it isn’t plausible to describe the Baby Boomer generation as religious. And Gen X and Millennials have gotten even less religious. America has been a post-Christian society for about 40 years now. And Western Europe longer than that.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/07/19 04:27 PM

I think it’s more that most women don’t think that far ahead. Especially young women. Our culture doesn’t put much emphasis on having children within wedlock. Not like it did pre-sexual revolution. Maybe some girls are thinking a baby will get them benefits, but for the most part, these girls getting knocked up before marriage aren’t thinking anything about their futures at all. They are just kind of drifting along from job to job and from relationship to relationship.

I just used teen pregnancy as an example. If you didn’t grow up in a poor area then it’s difficult to explain. It’s hard for affluent folks to understand the myriad horrible choices that poor people make that keep them poor. For men, these are the two gigantic answers. Even before all the #metoo movement, it was still extremely difficult for 3/4 of men to approach women. I’m sure it’s much harder to approach. I have a teenage son and I worry about his prospects of finding a partner in the future. I also have two daughters and don’t worry about their future prospects in the slightest.

You make it sound as if the only way a man can ever be happy is if he has a woman at his side. This simply isn’t true. There are a lot of ways to be happy. Sure, having a loving, loyal woman at your side is great, but that isn’t going to happen for more than 40% of men. And being bitter and angry isn’t going to change that. But what other choice do these men have other than moving on from female companionship as best they can? What is the alternative? Physically forcing women to be with men they aren’t attracted to? That is basically what civilization did for centuries before the Sexual Revolution. I don’t see women voluntarily going back to that model of one woman for one man in perpetual monogamy. The choices are living in bitterness or making the best of it. Wishing for the 1950’s to return is not a viable plan.

“find meaning in life that doesn't involve romantic companionship” People (mostly men) are going to need to embrace this concept. Gender relations are not going to improve. 2 or 3 years from the date the victim of the fraud (the man) knew or should have known about the fraud. That’s how most torts and breach of contract cases work. So if he finds out from 23 And Me or whatever that none of his teen children are his, he has two years from the date he received the test results.

People are too obsessed with making this a criminal matter. It’s really more of a civil matter. The fort of fraud or breach of implied contract. Something like that. The man should be able to sue the woman for monetary damages within a reasonable amount of time after he knew, or should have known, that the child wasn’t his. In most types of civil cases the statute of limitations is 2 or 3 years. That seems about right for a situation like this as well.

If she never even mentions the possibility that another man could be the father, that shows a pretty clear intent to defraud. That should have consequences. The defrauded man should be able to sue the woman for monetary damages. The amount of those damages would be determined by a judge or jury, just like in any other breach of contract or fraud case in civil court. The defrauded man would then hold a judgment against the woman and be able to garnish her wages, retirement plans, and other assets…

Prenups in America hold up just fine if they are drafted and executed properly, i.e. no duress, hiding of assets, both parties with their own legal counsel, etc. As long as the prenup was entered into like a normal, arm's length business contract they tend to hold up just fine. Spot on. The best economical way to structure society is the family. Proof of this is easily found with even a cursory internet search. The rise in income inequality is often blamed on the tax structure implemented in the 80's. In reality, income inequality is far more tied to the rise of single parent homes beginning in the 70's. The adult supervision thing is an often overlooked factor. My teen children spend literally only a fraction of the time away from adults that my generation did in the 80’s and 90’s. I was never home, even before my peer group could drive. My kids and their friends never leave their houses. I suspect devices and social media have a lot to do with that.

Single parent homes perpetuate poverty and crush social mobility more than anything else. Yes, the rare woman can be an awesome single mom and her kid will thrive. But the average woman can’t do it. A lifestyle where only the extraordinary can will succeed is doomed to failure.

MGTOW is never going to be the de facto lifestyle for men. A sizable minority of the bottom 80% of smp men will adopt MGTOW but that won’t be a majority of overall men. The majority of men will continue to attempt relationships with women and most outside the top 20% of smp will experience little success. But even if 1/3 of overall men adopt a MGTOW lifestyle (either voluntarily or involuntarily) that’s still tens of million of men in America alone. No one knows what the social implications of t…

“This would have had a very different outcome in most jurisdictions.” Not necessarily. The guy did well because he filed for divorce as soon as she quit her job. Meaning, he never agreed to it. The “lifestyle to which she is accustomed” is the antiquated standard normally used for alimony. In this case, that standard involved her working a job she quit on her own. If he had agreed to her being a SAHM for even a short time, he would have gotten smashed. But he didn’t, and that saved him along wit…

I was also friend zoned by my wife. This was years ago and the divorce has been final for a decade. I didn’t realize what had happened until I starting learning about what women actually want, rather that what we we were told they want. Growing up in the 80’s and 90’s guys were told that women want the good guy. Work hard, be attentive and don’t take her for granted the way our dad’s did and the wife will love you forever. We now know this is bullshit and that women are not loving and loyal like…

Sexual attraction won’t necessarily lead to healthy companionship and love, but you’re going to struggle to find love without it. I think women convince themselves that they can “eventually” find a man sexually attractive because the guy checks off a lot of other items on their list and they really want a boyfriend/husband. I just don’t think that’s reality. Those relationships don’t last, for the most part. He either gets you going or he doesn’t. And if he doesn’t, all the sense of humor and in…

Good for you. We turn society around one minute of volunteer work at a time. Just never be alone with a child, which is actually the policy of most respectable charities anyway. The world sucks right now and will for the foreseeable future. Doesn’t mean we stop trying, though.

The main reason Red Pill is controversial is their tone. It’s just too angry towards women. Truth can be acknowledged without being bitter and mean. Yes, women like confidence. Yes, women like muscles. Yes, women like status. It’s good to recognize and admit that. But it isn’t right to be angry at women for liking confidence, muscles and status. We don’t choose who we are attracted to, it just happens naturally. So getting bitter at women for liking muscles and confidence is like getting angry a…

You have natural inclinations to help others. That’s good. So do I. Do what I do and donate time and money to charities. Your local Boys & Girls Club really needs you. Or if you are able, donate money or necessities to a women’s shelter. But the days of chivalrously helping random strangers is over. Too much can go wrong and hurt you. We didn’t make society this way, but we can’t change it either.

You’re 100% correct. I didn’t make society this way, and I wish it were different. But as a man, we just can’t help people anymore. Too much can go wrong like the situation you describe above. We have to deal with the reality we are given, not the reality we want. And the reality we are given says “head down, keep to yourself”.

Especially in an environment like Chuck E, Cheese, do not help a random child. Seek out a member of the staff if you must, but do not touch the child yourself in any way. Where I live anyway, Chuck E. Cheese is a nightmare. I took my children twice but never again. If you want a stranger to pick a fight with you, Chuck E. Cheese can make that happen.

Everything about Andrea Yates makes me sick. She should have put to death years ago. Post-departum depression a real condition that should be taken seriously, but this is ridiculous. If she was so mentally ill that she couldn't help herself then why did she wait until her husband was out of the house, lock the dog in a room so it couldn't defend the kids, and then expend the effort to chase the oldest around the house. That sounds as premeditated as it gets.

You are 100% correct. Income inequality will continue to widen and the main cause is the breakdown of the nuclear family unit among the working class. Single parenthood will never be economically viable. A rare single mom here and there will keep up with intact, married couples. But those women will be the rare exception, not the rule.

Sex dolls and sex robots are much adieu about nothing. The guys who will benefit from AI dolls and robots aren’t desired by women anyway. So women won’t be losing anything. The men women desire will continue to approach women because they get positive responses when they do. The undesirable guys that women reject anyway will now have an outlet for their sexual frustration. This will probably make them less angry towards women. It’s a win-win for everyone.

Legal polyamorous marriages are the next battleground and it's only a matter of time before a Federal judge holds that we all have a Constitutional right to polyamorous marriage. From logical standpoint, I don't see how poly marriages can be kept illegal. Two men and two women are allowed to share a residence together. They are allowed to have sex with one another, raise children together, and share finances. All of that is perfectly legal. It only becomes illegal when they marry each other. I d…

Most of the advice on this thread can be summed up thusly: Show a modicum of self-discipline. My grandparents had a fine life and they were nothing special. No talent at all. Pappy just drove a truck and Nanny worked at a nursing home. Today, my Pap, being a lc male, would’ve had the first baby with Nan and never married her. He then would’ve knocked up two other women and spread his trucker salary three ways, directly leading to the poverty of 8-10 people.

True, and birth control might have decreased pre-industrial revolution birth rates a tick, but not by much. Before WWI especially, the majority of people were involved in agriculture. You needed children to work the farms. Children were an economic asset because they milked cows and churned butter for free. Once the family left the farm and Dad went to work in a factory birth rates began to drop rather dramatically because kids went from “free labor” to “another mouth to feed”. Some folks in the…

Nothing can be, or should be done about fertility rates. We don’t like to admit it or discuss it in polite society, but people are economic commodities like corn or steel. As the price of a commodity rises, the demand for that commodity decreases. Children have become exponentially more expensive over the last century, hence, they are less desired. Plus, when most people were farmers children helped on the family farm and were economic assets. Now, children are an economic liability. Obviously, …

I think marriage as an institution will continue to decline. It’ll never vanish completely but in the future I don’t think a majority of adults will marry. A sizable minority of adults? Sure. But more than 50% of adults will never marry. It’ll turn into an institution almost exclusively for the upper middle class and affluent class. Well, certainly there are a significant number of women riding the CC for as long as they can. I just think that’s a minority of women. But as there are roughly 160 million women in this country, even that minority of women riding the CC number in the millions. But statistically, the majority of college educated women find a man when they are in their early to mid-20’s and settle down with him. Whether those relationships and marriages are happy is another question.

I think this is a class thing. Educated, white collar women from stable middle and upper middle class backgrounds tend to find their mate at college or grad school and marry him from 26 to 29. Blue collar and working class women, not so much. They tend to come from unstable backgrounds and statistically are not getting married before having children. I’m generalizing, of course, but I think I’m correct in the aggregate.

I think there is a part of America that is in decline. We see it in statistics like life expectancy and suicide rates which are both moving in the wrong direction. I think upper middle class America is doing just fine and is everything you say it is. Healthier, wealthier, more educated, etc. But working class America is undoubtedly worse than it was in prior generations. It really boils down to economics and religion. Remember, until about WWII the majority of people still made their living in farming. Usually on small family farms. You needed those kids to labor on the farm so the family could be profitable. In more industrialized areas there were no child labor laws so you could send your kid to work fairly young and that contributed to the family income as well. Point being, prior to the mid-20th century, children were an economic asset. Now, they are a sever…

Must be nice to live in a place where the government actually functions properly. Americans pay some of the highest taxes in the world because we have three levels of taxation, Federal, State, and local. We get very little return for our tax dollars. I’m envious of places like Belgium, Finland, Switzerland, Norway, etc. because of the government services they receive. I’d happily pay for that quality. No, it doesn’t. Under most no fault divorce statutes, one party can unilaterally impose a divorce on their spouse. In some states it’s as little as 90 days from the date of filing the paperwork with the prothonotary. No matter how much one party wants to work on the marriage, it doesn’t matter. The divorce will still happen.
