They talked about this in the Freakanomics podcast. One double earning couple saved in excess of 10k a year by not getting married.

Perhaps the most troubling experiment in recent history is the dolphin-intelligence study conducted by neuroscientist John C. Lilly in 1958. While working at the Communication Research Institute, a state-of-the-art laboratory in the Virgin Islands, Lilly wanted to find out if dolphins could talk to people. At the time, the dominant theory of human language development posited that children learn to talk through constant, close contact with their mothers. So, Lilly tried to apply the same idea to…

Took me forever to find to transgender bit. I don't see how it makes this post anymore relevant to the subreddit. How do the experiences of a transgender person have any effect on a man's sexual strategy?

Agreed, transgender issues are beyond the scope of this reddit. Let them do what they want.

The OkCupid stats blog showed that the top tier of attractive women got messaged slightly less than women that rated slightly less attractive than them. http://cdn.okcimg.com/blog/your_looks_and_inbox/Male-Messaging-Curve.png

That doesn't make sense. The total taxes is less since the breadwinner claims alimony, while the homemaker takes alimony as income.

I agree. Top 25% isn't enormously wealthy- basically just upper middle class. The graph makes it look like an entirely different society. There could be some age related confounding variables in there.

So the author is using vaginal sex rate as a model for SMV? That doesn't seem very logical to me. The marriage slump compared to partnered couples is interesting, however. Probably explained by the values of the two groups though.

Apparently this: http://dressingyourtruth.com/about/beauty-profiling/ I have no idea how people come up this shit. This is such a bizarre reddit sometimes.

The whole discussion undermines successful women. Any woman who wants to be taken seriously doesn't give a fuck about what people call her. She focuses on her industry and the actual issues at hand. Not enough congresswoman? Beat men in the primaries. Not enough female scientists? Publish more papers. Not enough businesswoman? Start a company.

Low quality males would ultimately die out This statement lacks evidence. I simply proposed a scenario that would explain how low quality males could remain in the gene pool. I understand now what you meant to say.

Not necessarily. Let's say there was a submissiveness gene that is expressed in males and females. The amount of males possessing the gene remains stable despite its negative effect on their fitness since females possessing the gene are highly fertile.

Why even bring up Akin? He made an idiotic statement. There's no way you're going to be able to start a legitimate discussion about whether someone is culpable of rape with that as a preface.
/r/MensRights27/08/12 07:46 PM

Why is the OP unable to spell Todd Akin correctly? The argument you are making doesn't really follow from what Todd Akin said. He said that conception won't occur when a woman is raped. I don't see how this relates to the topic you are presenting.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
