I want to share with you a comment I found here on reddit and saved in my notes because I felt it was truly a revelation, albeit blunt and savage. "Can I just say I find it funny how many people think themselves "a useless sack of shit". Dude. We are monkeys. On a fucking rock. In endless space. Who literally made up a "society" and boat loads of total bullshit abstract concepts because .0001% figured out how to hornswoggle the other monkeys into building them an empire through (formerly non) …

Do you have any particular reasons/benefits why? The reason I ask is cause I have this dream of living an purely free+quiet lifestyle and I'm torn between buying land and building a house, or getting a catamaran and living on a boat. I think having a plot of land with my own house would be nice and peaceful, but then I would still be tied to the 'system' and paying taxes and what not. That's why I was looking into a sailing boat and slowly circumnavigating the globe.

Thank you for such a well written and insightful post. It has logic, reason, education, and leaves room for discussion. This post, and the comments that follow, is exactly what I look forward to in this sub. I have a friend that's currently going through rage/anger with society and toying with thoughts on suicide. He's given up on the world and deems everything pointless. Especially now with a global pandemic, social inequality, economic instability, environmental collapse, etc. I've been trying…

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
