In Clark County / Las Vegas Nevada I could had called the non-emergency police line (311 in my area) for a FREE stand-by ON duty police officer in person, at the house while I was getting my stuff. The caveat was they could not guarantee how long they would stay, due the need of 911 calls. But if the officer would have to leave I could had called back to get another one. I would Call your local police station to see if they offered a similar service for free too.

AMC’s movie pass besides being $20/month for up to 3 movies a week (no matter if they are IMAX, 3D, or what ever) also includes about $5 additional tickets on Tuesdays. I had my Dad and siblings hitch a ride with me on Tuesdays to see movies too. Just going to see a random movie, even it was one that I care to see otherwise, has helped me a lot too. I had my membership since 10/31/2022 and don’t see a reason to cancel it yet. I just drink, eat, and/or snack before going tot the theater to avoid …

Not always true, at the first hearing my ex got the Judge to agree that the house was her exclusive resident, and I was not allowed to enter the house or be on the property.

Tell he you're going to cancel it all in 30 days and she has that time to take it all over (elec, gas, water, ect). I tried this, but her lawyers chewed out my lawyer, so my lawyer filed an official motion to get the utilities out of my name (and for me to stop paying 100% for them). The Judge granted my motion, but make sure to get a deadline as part of the motion (e.g. 30 days)... Mine forgot to have a deadline stated and my ex-wife dragged her heels... At least until she told me that she "too…

...gives me some vague advice about getting an off-duty cop or something as a neutral observer for my protection... In Las Vegas, NV you can call 311 (non-emergency) to request a ON DUTY Police Officer(s) to be at the house for FREE. The gotcha is there is no guarantee, at least in Vegas, how long the Police Officer can stick around, due to more urgent 911 calls. I was told that if they left, I could call back in to get another Police Officer but no ETAs due 911 calls (naturally) take priority. …

My ex-wife tried to and was mostly successful in isolating me from my family, especially my mother. Why do you ask?

The funny thing is the court imputed her overtime-able hourly wages higher than my fixed (no bonuses) salary. Her lawyer demanded almost $1K a month in child support, in the end she would have to pay me $30.00 months in child support because of the wage difference. The reason I am glad that I hired a lawyer.

When my ex-wife would blame me for everything, even things I had no control over, and she rather spend time, after working 10+hours, with her co-workers. I filed because she tried to pull some shit to keep my kids aways from me, when I was the 90%+ of the time THE Caretaker (worked from home, took care of kids while working, gave baths 100% of the time, cooked, cleaned, and etc... kids would not go to bed without me telling them goodnight pre and post split).

We unofficially agreed to 50/50 for Custody of kids in about three months. My ex (F) was trying to prevent me from seeing the kids at all at first, until I (M) was able to get my lawyer to react and send messages to the other side that I was not going away quietly into the night like my ex wanted me so she could get all kinds of child support. Once her side realized that she had the higher income, and she might have to pay me, there tune changed quickly and settled on 50/50. About three months a…

My lawyer told that "right of first refusal" is very hard if at all to enforce once out of court.

My now ex-mother-in-law got along, compared to the disaster my now ex-father-in-law was / is ... My ex-mother-in-law, pre-split, would have hours long talks about just everything, including how she (still) regrets not divorce my now ex-wife's dad, because my ex-mother-in-law's mom talked her out of it (Catholics). She told me several times, pre-split, she wished she had the courage to divorce him, but now it's too late (both retired, living with other daughter). Post split I talked to my now ex-…

My wife still works and gets high pay, but it’s not worth it to go for alimony with only a year left. .... Even though she’s the sole breadwinner, she allows me $50 a week for online Spanish lessons and another $50 for online gaming. I would still try for alimony, even if is a low non-zero amount for even a month. Go for it!!

filed for divorce, so that’s currently in the process Just be honest about this part too ... because if it goes high conflict, your new partner(s) might / might not get dragged into court due to you technically still being married. If my Dad didn't date and have fun while his divorce was ongoing, I wouldn't be here today. My parents married (and are still 45+ years later) after his divorce was finalized. Otherwise, wait until the divorce is finalized then go for it.

Initially, my ex-wife was trying to say I was "unhealthy" (due one Vasovagal syncope episode caused by the stress of divorce) and was trying to demand thousands a month in child support from me. So we flipped the script (since I filed first) to me wanting full custody of the younger kids while she got full custody of our teenager. As if by magic, she agreed to 50/50 and sharing of the adoption subsidy (50/50 of the younger kids) with no additional child support. The kicker is my ex-wife had an i…

Mine was about $18.5K, after a fee reduction discount for the balance to pay in one lump sum from $16K down to about $7,500 after already paying a $2,000 retainer and $500 a month for 1.5 years (18 * $500=$9,000). Edit: After about a year and half, I started to do a "Return on Investment" (ROI) method to figure out if it was worth fighting for X, Y, and Z. In the end the things I wanted were not worth fighting for since I already had shared (50/50) custody of my kids.

I didn’t exchange a single word with my ex-in-laws since the day of separation and don’t ever expect to. My now ex-mother-in-law called me twice during the 1.5yr divorce, both times I knew I was talking with someone behind enemy lines and what I said would be used. I twice told my ex-mother-in-law exactly no more information than I wanted my ex-wife to know. The second time, was funny, because my ex-mother-in-law asked me why I was not settling, and I told her that daughter offer's were unfair a…
