I’ve regrettably been in plenty of fights, including against much smaller aggressors, and not once was I unable to gauge the level of force needed to neutralize the person without possibly killing them… It’s really not that difficult. But also, if I stab you with a foam knife, that you know isn’t going to seriously harm you, you would not be justified in stabbing back with a real knife.

Yes. There is such thing as level of force. If he would have killed her, he 100% would have been charged. The level of force has to match the threat, up until the point where death or severe bodily injury is imminent.

Because, like I said, it not worth killing someone over. Too many one punch deaths out there to play with.
