Illiberal children's storiesMy kids loved the classics: Mother Goose and Each Peach Pear Plum especially. I still find them looking through our tattered Mother Goose sometimes:) They also liked Eric Carle's board books -- the very hungry caterpillar and some others. And Margaret Wise Brown has lots of gorgeous books for small kids. My daughter loved one called Big Red Barn. Enjoy! It's so great to have kids who love reading! | /r/RedPillWives | 12/09/18 06:39 AM
A refreshingly reasonable post on motherhood, from the NYT of all sources!I think this is lovely - although I also think there's nothing new about mothers grumbling about how hard motherhood is! She's spinning it as a modern trend in order to make her point, but I think the cliche of the work out, martyred mother carrying the weight of the world on her shoulders is pretty timeless :) For me, motherhood was beautiful from the first but also difficult. It highlighted the areas where I was still immature -- and in a way, that's still true. I think parenthood is also a pr… | /r/RedPillWives | 17/08/18 05:10 PM
Most common mistakes women make with menThis is a great list. I also LOVE the comment about the "princess" mentality! I slightly disagree with your second point, though-- the one about making snap judgements. Some of us rely heavily on our intuition when making decisions, and that's really what it means to make a snap judgement. This can be a good thing: we need to make sure that we marry a man who we mesh with and feel good about on an instinctual level. That's also the reason that smells matter when picking a mate. I know that when … | /r/RedPillWives | 17/08/18 01:41 PM
Did you improve your relationship/marriage by being more submissive? This sub has helped me a lot, but not exactly by encouraging me to be submissive. If anything, I feel like I've been figuring out ways to be less passive and ask for what I want. I used to have a bad pattern of stewing over things and then exploding in frustration once in a while. When I first found the red pill, I tried just taking a giant step back and letting my husband lead. But since he frankly isn't very detail oriented about house and kids, that meant that things just didn't get done. Now… | /r/RedPillWives | 10/08/18 03:13 PM
Parenting, Motherhood, Pregnancy Mega-Thread - July 28, 2018We're night owls too, but I work from home so it's a different situation. Also they get up very early so the morning is also family time for us. Every family is going to be different. Do what works for you! There is nothing wrong with a later bedtime if that fits with your schedule better. I know lots of families that don't put their kids to bed until 10. The kids are fine. | /r/RedPillWives | 30/07/18 09:43 PM
Parenting, Motherhood, Pregnancy Mega-Thread - July 28, 2018Bedtime for both my kids was 7 until recently, when it moved to 8 (they're almost 7 and 5 now). They were both awful sleepers as banies. As toddlers they slept deeply but would often wake up very early. I used 7 as a rough estimate and adjusted according to their needs -- if they skipped naps, or woke up earlier than usual, or had an exhausting day, they'd go to bed earlier. | /r/RedPillWives | 30/07/18 06:44 PM
Are there any female celebrities you look up to as rp-rolemodels?I love Angela Lansbury's character on Murder She Wrote. She's widowed, so it's not an example of how to behave in a relationship, but it's a lovely example of how a woman can be confident and assertive while still being warm and feminine. | /r/RedPillWives | 30/07/18 05:32 PM
Am I Being Too Soft a Place to Land??For a while I had an evening routine with the kids where they'd list their favorite things from the day -- the idea was to teach them to be positive! Maybe I'll start that up again. | /r/RedPillWives | 28/07/18 09:03 PM
Am I Being Too Soft a Place to Land??Yes, I keep a journal -- a big notebook full of feelings and ideas. I love it and should use it more often. | /r/RedPillWives | 28/07/18 09:01 PM
Am I Being Too Soft a Place to Land??Thanks for this! I know you're right and it's so nice to hear that someone has been there. Love this site. | /r/RedPillWives | 28/07/18 09:01 PM
Am I Being Too Soft a Place to Land??I like to write, listen to music, or go for a run. Unfortunately when I'm feeling run down I tend to just watch tv or play on my phone but those aren't the things that actually make me feel better! I did find time for a lunch with just my husband today (my mom had the kids) which really helped at lot. So I'm going to try and remember to make time for the things that make me feel better. | /r/RedPillWives | 28/07/18 12:16 AM
Am I Being Too Soft a Place to Land??Thank you! I feel silly for grumbling. Normally I don't mind housework and love all the childcare. I guess it's been a tough week and I just wanted to hear that all my hard work was making a difference, you know?. I'll try to organize my time better next week and give myself more breaks so I don't get cranky and overwhelmed. | /r/RedPillWives | 27/07/18 10:47 PM
Am I Being Too Soft a Place to Land??Thank you!! I appreciate the suggestions :) | /r/RedPillWives | 27/07/18 03:36 PM
Am I Being Too Soft a Place to Land??That's a really nice way of looking at it. I'll try to organize my time a bit differently -- I work part time from home but I can set my own hours, so I'll try to move things around so that we have more time for fun. He has totally been there for me in the past, no question. And he's very loving and sweet now. I'm just frustrated because he talks a lot about this issue without ever at all acknowledging that it might also impact me and the kids. But I can let that go. It'll probably be easier to … | /r/RedPillWives | 27/07/18 03:36 PM
Am I Being Too Soft a Place to Land??Hey thank you. That's why I posted here; I feel frustrated but I also feel like I am being a little unfair. I guess at heart, I'm annoyed because I feel like this work problem was predictable. I feel like I'm being put in the role of steady reliable one while he goes into crisis mode and avoids the boring day to day stuff. Maybe I need to think of fun stuff I can do with the kids to keep myself from getting resentful! | /r/RedPillWives | 27/07/18 02:50 PM
SAHWs and houseworkYes absolutely. I work from home but even so I do the bulk of the housework (although thankfully not all)! I have friends who are SAHMs who like to brag about how much their husband helps around the house. They come home and wash dishes, vacuum, etc. And I also know lots of SAHMs who complain endlessly about their husbands not doing enough of the housework. I honestly think this is why so many working women look down on stay at home mothers. In some ways, I think being a SAHM is comparable to be… | /r/RedPillWives | 23/07/18 03:40 PM
Cleaning with my DemonsI could have written this post myself!! Down to being shamed for not cleaning and organizing well, all the bundle of crazy associations that have built up around that, and a husband who is not at all minimalist... I have my ups and downs but mostly I find that if I do a certain minimum every day, twice a day, it keeps me from feeling overwhelmed. And if I'm not overwhelmed, then I can usually do a bit extra too. For me, the bare minimum is dishes washed, floor swept, beds made, windows opened fo… | /r/RedPillWives | 13/07/18 02:59 AM
Husband doesn't think I am supportiveHonestly I can see why he wouldn't want to even talk about that kind of home improvement right now. I mean, his business isn't doing great, so I'm guessing it just stresses him out to hear you talk about spending more money on stuff that isn't strictly necessary. | /r/RedPillWives | 11/07/18 02:42 AM
Husband doesn't think I am supportiveSorry you're dealing with this, it sounds totally overwhelming. Would your husband help with housework and bathing the kids if you asked him to? Maybe if that became his responsibility, you could use that time to exercise and relax. I know the red pill is against "chore play" but personally, I find it VERY attractive when my husband takes over some of my load; it puts me in a much better frame of mind to be a good partner. If he can't help then I agree with u/teaandtalk that you should look for … | /r/RedPillWives | 10/07/18 10:03 PM
Dare To Be Domestic: Traditional Living & Part-time WorkLove this post. I'm a SAHM but I've also worked from home ever since my first child was born, almost 7 years ago. The one thing I'd add to your post is a bit of a caution: in my experience, work-from-home jobs, if they pay decently, have the potential to be a bit all-consuming. The flip side of getting to make your own hours amd work from home is that you never really punch out. So I've found that you really have to be vigilant about managing your work-life balance and turning off your work brai… | /r/RedPillWives | 06/07/18 06:55 PM
What do you do when you don’t “like” your husband? In terms of stopping your intrusive thoughts: you totally have a right to be upset by your husband's rudeness. But it seems overdramatic -- and kind of destructive to go to "I don't like him." Can you reframe it in your mind as " I don't like the way he's acting" or "I don't like the fact that he's not listening to me" or whatever, instead of "I don't like HIM"? | /r/RedPillWives | 04/07/18 04:23 AM
QuestionI think it's very important to stay attuned to your husband's values and interests. You say that your husband isn't very take charge -- but I assume there are SOME things he has very strong feelings about and takes charge on. Pay attention to those areas. When we had our first baby, all of a sudden household management and childcare became HUGELY important to me. My husband obviously loved the baby but he did not care at all what kind of diapers he was wearing or whether he used a pacifier. This… | /r/RedPillWives | 28/06/18 10:12 PM
