It's really not; the story is about trusting God and doing what is right even when it doesn't help you. Joseph stays strong by remaining virtuous (eg: not sleeping with the woman who was begging for it) even when all the incentives ran the other way. He rose in power because God helped him (in the form of a vision to Pharoah), not on his own merit. Interpreting it otherwise does violence to the story. See, for example, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, where they recast the moral as …

Congrats, you have discovered a big truth that was uncomfortable. This does not mean every truth is uncomfortable.

You want to go even deeper, note that Genesis 3:6 mentions offhand that Adam was there the whole time when Eve and the serpent were having their exchange. The Fall of Man came about because man chose to passively stand by instead of taking the lead. God even specifically castigates Adam for listening to his wife instead of God.

Yeah, man, they must be nuts. I mean, just look at how much Jon Stewart makes fun of them!

The end result would be a bunch of aggressive, muscular men rushing into battle with their clubs and promptly getting incinerated from the sky by a drone run by a nerd from the faithful society. Building a society is hard, and takes the concerted effort of many hands, not merely the leadership of great men. There's nothing inevitable about getting out of the stone age.

I don't see how those make her look better. The fact that she also ditched her kids is not a point in her favor (imagine a father walking out on his family because "it's not a good time for me right now"). The fact that she couldn't/chose not to get custody in a system overwhelmingly stacked against the father makes this look even worse. Secondly, if you have to describe your financial contribution as "vibrant," you probably weren't contributing much actual money.

This is only half-correct. Women have their temptations the same as men do, but they are also capable of resisting them, the same as men can. There is no man who would not be tempted to bang the cute young secretary when his wife gets on in years, but there are many who don't give in to that temptation. So it is for women and hypergamy. The trouble is two-fold: -Men are trained to believe that women are in fact angelic beings, untempted by the things of the flesh. -By the same token women are no…

Listen to what this guy is saying. What does it really mean to be "loved for who you are"? Being accomplished in a well-paying, respectable field is part of who you are. Women are right to admire/desire you for that and want to be a part of it. It is easy for us to look down on "gold-digging" as men, because we're not particularly attracted to women for their money. But look at it from our equivalent: would you be as interested in a woman "for who she is" if who she is includes 500 pounds of fat…

Just Four Guys just posed an article about girl game: http://www.justfourguys.com/girl-game-is-simple-yet-so-hard/ Most of it boils down to taking care of your body and being nice.

I'm not terribly interested in who has more fault. When considering my actions, the question is whether or not I am at fault.

I think you're hamstering yourself here. We've established that she's fickle; I don't see why you think she's so much more dedicated to cheating than she is to anything else. Just because she's teetering on the edge doesn't let you off the hook for pushing her over.

Another interesting way to interpret that one: when asked face-to-face, women cut their reported N in half.

I am amazed that you believe yourself to be the first one night stand of a girl who had a threesome. 5 is also a lie.
