People can do both. Plus, counteracting the misandrist parts of feminism and showing how not every male issue was caused by men/patriarchy helps men.

It depends how it's defined. The feminist theory version of patriarchy is bollocks, but patriarchal (using the actual, non-feminist definition) societies definitely did and do still exist.

I legit heard a bisexual woman (who is engaged to a straight man) say that gay men are the straight men of the gay world. Like...lol no. Some people really view maleness as some superpower privilege that always empowers without any downsides despite reality showing that it can easily lead to blatant sexist harm greater than their male privilege if said male is classified as a "bad/dangerous male": such as gay men in the eyes of certain homophobes or trans women in the eyes of certain transphobes…

It's plain misandry and people believing women are inherently better than men and, ergo, not as deserving of any violation against them. Frankly, despite being left wing (and I will never vote for the right in my country), I have grown apathetic to any claims of female victims deserving special focus in countries where (1) women have equal or greater legal protections and rights than their male counterparts, and (2) only men are being drafted to suffer, be traumatized, and likely die in a war fr…

Do you also dismiss the good of women in emergency rescue and defending others against violence just because they're also the minority?
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates21/06/26 07:07 PM
7

I wouldn't know about that honestly. I assume that's the case, but I don't have studies that back it up. Granted, I also believe women don't really make up a large percentage of people who save or otherwise rescue others (from trafficking or anything else).
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates21/06/26 01:41 PM
13

What thoughts are you asking about? I don't tar all black people for the crimes of other random black people. I don't tar all women for the crimes of other random women. My thoughts are the same as regarding the people who commit rescue efforts and protect the vulnerable. I don't idealize people either for the good deeds of random other people. It's also good to not forget that it tends to be a minority of men who also end up usually saving women from deadly threats and protecting vulnerable wom…

Women have definitely participated in sex trafficking and rape of men. Besides that, I'm not fully against your first sentence but my point still stands that it's a minority of men who are the danger to women and not the average man, except for in the much more regressive cultures. It's also good to not forget that it tends to be a minority of men who also end up usually saving women from deadly threats and protecting vulnerable women throughout history. Women - like with violence - also help to…

Same. Granted, I admit to my bias since I've been abused more by women than men in my life.

I think the misandry comes in when people act like men on average are a greater threat to women on average. The minority of men definitely are, but that's not the average man. Like how just because the minority of women are a greater threat to born babies doesn't mean women on average are. Also, one should acknowledge that violent men are still more likely to physically harm another man than they are a woman. There are definitely exceptions to this, but usually if a man is violent, he's also or …

That depends if you're talking about the feminist theory of patriarchy (not "theory" in the way actual science would use that word) or the definition of patriarchy that actually matches reality. If the latter, there are two types of patriarchies: -One is a society or culture that prioritizes and allows only males to be in the head positions of leadership that affects the laws or governance of that society/culture while preventing females from attaining those positions. This could also include no…

That's definitely and annoyingly true. I've been in some that even treats recognizing Terfs as real feminists and pointing out how feminists can be bad people as worthy of derision or outright banning.

Left wing doesn't have to be feminist. Feminism is only one very specific part of mainstream left wing thought after all.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates04/06/26 03:16 PM

I agree. Patriarchies definitely exist but the feminist definition of patriarchy, especially the rad fem one, is way less accurate to reality to the point it doesn't apply to most patriarchal (the irl definition) societies.

"but the issue there is still male violence." That is irrelevant to the conversation at hand. We're talking about how you were trying to justify women's misandry. Guys hurting guys doesn't justify women being afraid of them. The same way I wouldn't be afraid of being shit talked for not wearing makeup or not wearing a new dress at every event since those are jabs women stereo-typically tend to only do to each other (there are outliers of course and this is a mild example). "But in general, women are more vulnerable to her male counterpart" Irrelevant honestly since reality shows that despite the average woman being physically weaker (NOTE: being physically weaker doesn't automatically mean being more vulnerable; nowadays, weapons, including nonlethal but still effective ones, exist; and depending on one's country or culture, police and strangers are more likely to assume innocence from a woman in a man/woman confrontation) than the average man, women also are much…

How is the world more dangerous - as opposed to at most equally dangerous - for women if men are the majority of victims to all crimes but sexual crimes with sexual crimes still including a lot of male victims? "its very unlikely a man will off himself over being called and incel" Based on the stats, more likely than a woman would be murdered just from stepping out the door.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates31/05/26 10:33 AM

I mentioned it in the changemyview and this is what an insane person replied with. I think they're so misandrist they purposely refuse to read incorrectly. It seems they interpreted homicide as accidental deaths for babies only before blaming male victims for their own murders once they're old enough to move. Edit: I pointed this out and they said they misread but still didn't address it beyond saying their comment about it can be ignored. At this point, I assume they're too brainrotted. <image>

Sadly, misandrists are more likely to act like this isn't a sign of misandry (despite how they would view it as blatant misogyny if the serves were reversed).

I saw that. I commented a bit there but had to leave since the level of stupid, misandrist victim blaming, general misandry, and blatant pro-female bias (such as ignoring how women perpetuate and create so-called patriarchal societies) was getting too on my nerves.

The whole "no uterus, no opinion" thing also means that men should neither be for or against abortion, which means never voting or fighting to have abortion legal (or illegal). Just leave it up to the women or transmen, including those who are staunchly against abortion being allowed or vote to forbid it for others.. I did say "if they're the only sex susceptible for the draft" for a reason. I would love if the draft and other heinous things were removed. However, since the draft at least is clearly never going away (because most countries would never willingly sign away the only legal way for them to get manpower when needed), there should be some type of compensation or equality (i.e. making women also get drafted). Plus, it's a (likely foolish) hope that if men were given a compensation (that the governme…

Any progressive/leftist/liberal who supports a male-only draft is partially justifying the men who decide to go to the right. At least the right promises and plans to provide benefits to men in exchange for trapping them in their gender role and advocating for male disposability. Honestly, men should get some type of legal advantage if they're the only sex susceptible for the draft since there's not a female version of the draft, such as a pregnancy draft or something as heinous as forcing men t…

That pisses me off maybe especially since I'm black and gay. So I do tend to compare the feminist idea of patriarchy to white supremacy or systematic homophobia. I frankly don't believe that the feminist version of patriarchy would be able to backfire anywhere close to how actual patriarchal societies have harmed men. If the USA, for example, was able to once build a highly racist society that previously always shit on blacks and elevated whites in comparison to those blacks, the patriarchy woul…

Frankly, from my experience (which is subject to not be fully reflective of reality, I recognize) is that both feminism and the more gender restrictive (for both sexes) societies that were patriarchal (not the feminist version of patriarchy but the actual meaning of the word where a society only allows men to directly rule under their own authority) are (more often than not) in favor of rape laws that either only have men as rapists or only defines rape as needing the rapist to penetrate another…

"The consensus that rape is only when a man penetrates a woman was formed due to decades of feminist propaganda." Were there many rape laws prior that mentioned women can rape a man by forcing them to penetrate or that women can rape women sans penetration?
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates19/04/26 04:38 PM
5

I know that. My comment was simply saying that removing feminists would likely not change how most (since there are some places with better laws) rape laws are not gender neutral.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates19/04/26 04:36 PM
9

"If feminists didn't exist, rape laws would probably be gender neutral." I doubt that. Feminism has been useful and vital for some advancements, but namely only for women. It is true that feminists have interfered with certain advancements for men and even advocated for misandrist policies, such as the duluth model. However, without feminism, it's possible rape laws would still be focused primarily on the idea that only males can be the aggressors. I do wish that egalitarianism was the actual do…

I agree. I think another factor in these examples are that iirc Renee died due to trying to (imo) rightfully leave due to direct danger to herself/due to ice directly targeting her. Whereas Alex died due to (imo) rightfully putting himself in direct danger by defending another when he wasn't (currently) being directly targeted by ice. It's been a while so I might be misremembering.

The mom was obviously a Handmaiden of the patriarchy who objectified her daughter as the property of the white patriarchy so it's actually all the patriarchy's fault. There can never be anything bad except if done by the patriarchy. And if something could also have occurred outside of a patriarchy, it's still due to the patriarchy if it ends up being bad. /S (sarcasm)

Did you not read my sentence? Should I quote the relevant part to help you? "more misogyny and resentment" Even if every boy or the majority of boys have inherent misogyny and resentment (which they don't), "more misogyny and resentment" would still be "more misogyny and resentment" than any baseline (fictional) innate misogyny and resentment.

I've noticed that too. It pisses me off. I find it incredibly homophobic whenever someone tries to make anti-gay male bias all about women and misogyny
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates07/01/26 01:15 PM

That would be wrong because not all women do that. It's members of that sex that call all men rapists and have those interesting stats. It's not every member of that sex.

I don't. I bet many of them have the mindset that anyone who would be radicalized are already unrepentant misogynists and deserve to be shat on (despite them being kids and despite how it's being shat on that is radicalizing them).

I think the only thing women, on average, are more progressive than men, on average, about is women's rights. And even that is for obvious self-serving but not necessarily unjustified reasons. Plus, even with that in mind, many men are still on board for women's rights (provided it's actually about equity and equality). I disagree with the belief most women hate men. There are many who do, but I doubt it's a majority.

The issue is the feminist definition of patriarchy tends to change based on which feminist you ask and when. The actual definition of patriarchy (not the feminist assumption of it) works with that society still hurting men since simply having leadership all being men doesn't mean they actually care about men at all. But feminist theory of patriarchy tends to paint patriarchy as 100% intentional while also being something one can passively and accidentally propagate. Due to this nebulous and pote…

I agree. I have no problem with people who have reclaimed or even love that does for themselves, but I would prefer it not be used as a blanket term for all LGBT people. I'm gay, not queer in the same way I'm black, not a colored person. It might just be semantics, but I would prefer someone just say I'm gay or part of the LGBT community instead of queer.

Definitely not all, but many do to justify their bigotry. Men do it as well tbh. But I assume this post was made in response to female misandrist who justify their sexism by their belief that all (or the majority of) men are out to control or otherwise victimize them. I don't see why the emotional pain is important since one can assume the guy has the same emotional pain that the mom would. But I agree on the soundness of your other points even though I believe the cost should still not exceed the average cost of the abortion or (in states where abortion is legal) half the average cost of the abortion

/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates21/09/25 06:33 PM

Abortion is for oneself, not one's partner. The point being that's why financial abortion should exist so men can get it for themselves

For Point 3, I believe they should only pay the abortion fee at most (half of the abortion fee at least). The woman is also pregnant so the other costs are hers to pay. If she aborts the baby, she wouldn't need money from loss of work or for long term recovery. And if she chooses to have the baby while knowing the father has financially aborted it, that's on her.

Caring about cruelty is hypocritical if you tolerate and allow inequality to do so. It is cruel to have only one sex be susceptible to conscription. It is less cruel imo to have both sexes susceptible to conscription. There is necessary cruelty and unnecessary cruelty. Conscripting only one sex in today's world is unnecessary. At least by conscripting both sexes, the cruelty stops being unnecessary.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates19/09/25 12:07 PM
28

Better to tolerate equality than inequality if cruelty will occur regardless. Makes it more likely that for said cruelty to be removed one day if it affects everyone equally. Plus, lbr conscription will never go away because all sustainable countries know it's necessary if they don't get enough volunteers for their wars (whether it's a just war or not).
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates19/09/25 04:56 AM
14

Wars have been, can be, and will be necessary. To believe or act otherwise is naive at best. Since wars will keep being necessary so will conscription if there is not enough volunteers. Due to that, the only equal and the most just thing is for all sexes to be equally susceptible to conscription.

One difference between white supremacy and patriarchy is that whites weren't being forced to die and suffer horribly in wars while blacks were (despite still being allowed to do so if they wish) not being forced to do so. That alone should indicate there's a difference between white supremacy and patriarchy. Since we're talking about conscription and your source was from the USA, I'm referring to the USA.

I doubt they will reply, but if they do, I ask they also define EXACTLY what makes someone a feminist and what would make someone NOT a feminist if they truly believe TERFs don't count as feminists.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates16/09/25 06:37 PM

This person must have thought white people were the most oppressed group in the USA during slavery since apparently being viewed as disposable tools is the highest form of privilege and being viewed as too cherished to be treated the same is the highest form of oppression.

First, welcome to the sub. Hopefully, people make sure to give you the same respect back that you show them. Now on to your points. "What I would say is toxic masculinity..." When it comes to toxic masculinity, I refer to it as either gender roles, internalized misandry, and/or the consequences of the aforementioned. Similar to how many feminists never would say toxic femininity unless pressed (and even then, they might not). They would refer to things that could be ascribed to toxic femininity …

What stats are needed? I'm not hunting down a stat showing that at least one feminist and one misandrist feminist have married and procreated. Edited to add: that feminists can just be normal people. By feminist, I refer to anyone who identifies as such and believe in women's rights. I separate feminist and misandrist feminist the same way one should separate a mra (or other advocate for men's rights) from misogynistic mras.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates18/08/25 01:08 PM

I would advise against generalizations like that. Feminists are no more likely to be "unsuccessful" (I have issues in calling someone unsuccessful simply because they didn't procreate or get a partner) than non-feminist women. Sadly, even misandrist feminist can be so-called successful.

I know someone who had the nerve to post one of those "all men hate all women" images, which explicitly included black men as well as disabled men, to her instagram after Orange won. And she's a white woman. White women are not guilty by default just because the majority of their demographic voted Orange, but if you're going to tar all men with the hate brush over Orange getting elected, it's highkey hypocritical to be white and doing that.

They should just allow both sexes to restrict their rides as a toggle for either sex. As is, this is just sexist since it ignores the worries men and women can have towards female riders/drivers as well as ignoring the worries men can have towards male riders/drivers. I also worry how this could affect transpeople.

Male privilege does certainly exist but so does female privilege. Depending on the country and time period in question, Feminism is often wrong about the extent of the former and lack of the latter. But I agree with the other points.

They confuse how racism operates with how sexism operates. They assume since white supremacist governments always prioritize white people over nonwhites that any type of existent patriarchy (not their fantasies of one) would work the same with all men being prioritized over all women.

He does make a great point. There are many people (men and women) who are okay when someone is violent with a guy and then either acts surprised at or defends the person when they're violent against women since they don't believe they would do that (despite them already proving their violent nature against men).

Were you in the same post I was in earlier within the tvtropes subreddit lol? Tbf, the whole thing of encountering people crying "benevolent sexism!" whenever female privilege or preference exists is not new.

Those type of transfems are blind to the reality that any misandry justifies any transmisogyny. After all, transphobia is often - if not always - at least partially due to people seeing transpeople as their sex, not their gender. And even people who aren't transphobic still know that trans women are biological men. And misandrists across both the right, center, and left agree that men are innately bad and somehow inferior to women. The only difference is how they define men and what they attribu…

As an assumption, I think they're referring to how those spaces can easily get filled with misandry from casual, random misandrist comments to unhinged misandrist screeching without much - if any - pushback from other leftists or progressives.

Frankly, if a woman doesn't know who got her pregnant, that should allow all prospective fathers more time to get a financial abortion (based on when she informs them) even if that would push them past the usual abortion window. This law would be complicated and won't be perfect...likely ever.

I agree with you. I believe it should be contingent on the abortion law. In other words, in every jurisdiction where abortion is legal, a man is allowed a financial abortion. Set the deadline 2-4 weeks before the deadline for abortions are. That would give the female bodied person time to have their abortion if they don't want to do so without the father's aid or involvement.

I hate how the rape statistics exclude being made to penetrate. No wonder many misandrists, including the bigoted feminists and bigoted non-feminists, believe that rape is a singularly male perpetrated act when many (and I believe, most) forms of female-on-male perpetrated rape being minimized.

I actually was thinking earlier today about how all lies of being truly intersectional is revealed whenever certain leftists and many feminists are spoken to about circumcision. A lot of them love to bring up the lie that FGM is worse than MGM without them even realizing they are legit derailing the conversation (assuming no one previously brought up if MGM is worse than FGM or not). I am a leftist but that stuff irritates me immensely and does make me not want to interact with those people even…

Because of misandry, the incorrect notion that men/women are in a strict oppressor/oppressed dichotomy where if men are also suffering from an issue that means women are not, and the (incorrect) belief that women are always the number one victim.

And they never consider if the severe violence might be due to lashing out after years of abuse (unless the perp is female of course).

Yes. According to the study, where heterosexuals are concerned: male victims of IPV greatly dwarfs female victims except in cases of severe violence.

The misandry to racism pipeline seem to always end up happening. Not surprised since people who can fall into sexism (or other bigoted thinking) follow the same logic that people use to justify their racism.

That type is just a bigot who wants to harm and attack innocent people for the sin of being born different than they are. They are so blinded by their hate, they cannot see that their hateful desires would directly go against their progressive desires.

It is true clownery. Frankly, I know two white women in my life that love to hate on men for ~patriarchy and this election has really destroyed all patience I once had with them. I wish there was a polite way to confront them about this when next they yap on about the evil men without creating drama since we do have mutual friends.

Bernie seems to primarily be interested in doing the best for the country even if that means staying aligned with the DNC because lbr a 3rd party never had any hope of beating Trump. Bernie likely didn't want to throw his support behind a losing horse when the DNC is the only party that has a chance.

Educate them. If you want to sway people to your side, it is your job to do so. Even though I agree Kamala is vastly better than Trump, they clearly are unsure hence their question. Refusing to answer their question in a way that proves your point and instead just saying they're part of the problem is part of the reasoning why ppl just didn't bother voting for Kamala (which includes those - men and women - who voted third party or not at all).

You're assuming alot about their interests. Assumptions like that are what makes ppl who could otherwise be allies become indifferent or outright contrarian to what you want them to do.

Your tendency to equate individuals as part of a hive mind is showing. Your second sentence is implicitly treating every individual woman as a synecdoche of the group of "women" instead of treating a woman as an individual separate from every member of her sex.

I HATE people like that. It's part of the reason why I don't identify as feminist. I want actual gender equality and the end of sexism for everyone, not just women. Sadly, a lot of feminists and other people love to minimize the harm female perpetrators do and the suffering male victims (especially victims of women) undergo.

Probably because it's usually feminists who say it's for everyone and also helps men. A number of those feminists loudly and angrily say this while calling you a misogynist if you don't agree.
