Telling women that this can be accomplished when they are already out of their formative years is a fool's errand. Should they be much more physically attractive than their UMC partner, a marriage may ensue, but it will never be as fulfilling nor comfortable as if they married within their class. Here is where I answered this.

IUD's have the best rates of success. Mirena & Paragard if you're in the US. Paragard is the only form of non-hormonal birth control that is reversible. If you are utilizing the pullout method, look into Fertility Awareness and diligently track your cycle and share this with your partner. Utilize condoms during your fertile period. Hormonal birth control has a host of negative side effects, the least of which are weight gain.

I respectfully disagree. Socioeconomic status, or class, is what separates Westerners, especially Americans. My personal and work circle is UMC to UC and my employees are working class to middle class. The differences are stark and are absolutely not as simple as "budgeting" or "art appreciation". It's lifestyle, it's values, it's how you spend your free time. It's where you live, it's your approach to work and investments. It's intelligence. UMC tend to be a whole standard deviation higher of i…

+1 for Religion and Income. I didn't see this mentioned, but length of time in current relationship (sectioned out for LTR and marriage). That'd be interesting. But it would have to be made clear; either years married or years total with spouse.

I think you're wise and proactive in noticing the fallen soldiers around you. I would look to the community center (pickup basketball/dodgeball/volleyball/poker/boardgames, all sorts of art, film, book club, cooking classes) first. You can find likeminded people that way. Or volunteering at the food bank or local charity might help - not as another 'to do' list, but something different on the weekends. I think those places are more likely to contain other married couples in a similar lifestage a…

why shouldn't the government oversee the contract? Because we don't believe the government should do much of anything. They forcibly sterilize portions of the population (Native Americans, 1970's), they put people in concentration camps (Japanese Americans, 1940's), they deliver bread and circuses via entitlement programs that are set to bankrupt society (social security, medicare) ... It also aids with providing a paper trail for later issues related to disposition of the estate. If anything, I…

OP, can you answer the following questions so I can give a more detailed and relevant response? What do you want to do after you hit the wall at 30 and your career isn't tenable? (SAHM is an acceptable answer) What are the careers and education level for each member of your immediate family? What are the careers and education level for each member of your extended family? Of your immediate and extended family, what percentage of people are married to their first spouse? How many are cohabitating…

Great post! :D For those of you who are married and those of you who have been married, can you tell the difference in how other women perceive you? From other women that are happily married or engaged around my age, there is respect. Respect that I have ascended to the highest level of relationship achievement. From other women happily married whom are older, it's a different kind of respect. It's a hopeful respect - that the media narratives aren't quite so dire, that people still are building…

You need friends that mirror your goals, your lifestyle and your priorities. Just because you've been friends for years does not mean they're good for you or good to you. Evolution of your priorities means you need to surround yourself with those similar to you. You are the company you keep. Big cities do make it difficult but not impossible. You just have to know where to look. I've found that tough mudders/crossfit/krav maga/mma/jujitsu/marathon training have naturally RP men and women and in …

I'm pretty sure he just wings it. Ah. Winging is not in my nature. It's why we have life insurance, disability insurance, health insurance, IRA's and....a marriage license. We plan for tomorrow, so that it's a place we really want to live. It's so that when the going gets rough, we think of that contract, those vows we made to each other. When there is no glue, what binds you? Most couples and parents in my life have been divorced. People are at an increased risk for divorce when they are a prod…

Why did they convince you not to want marriage? Why is a LTR, with cohabitation, better for you? Marriage is about a lot more than love. It's about building a future together. Parts of a marriage are a business: you're building financial assets together. How does he intend to structure assets? How does he intend to structure finances? Look at TRP as this: men are artificially raising the price of marriage. You are under no obligation to pay the price they're asking. We live in the free world and…

Here is a long post I wrote for IUD Divas with my experience with the Paragard (the ONLY form of hormone-free reversible birth control) Acne is a western disease, much like heart disease and diabetes you don't see it in other parts of the world. Pre-nups are not commonly thrown out. They aren't even uncommonly thrown out. You're basing your knowledge off of horror stories posted on TRP. Also, statistically, 85% of millionaires are married and 15% are unmarried. Your odds are very low for true wealth building without being married. tl;dr a variety of strawman arguments

This is a logical fallacy. He is not "against" marriage. She is not high quality enough to warrant a marriage to him. Every one and every thing in this world has a price. Sociosexual relations are a game of economics. For every straight man, there exists a straight woman that would inspire him to get married. Nobody is exempt from the game - not even George Clooney. I'd like to hear thoughts from the women here and what you think of my own advice. My advice to him was to figure out the exact, specific issues that she has with not getting married and try to come to agreeable solutions based on those specific issues. Budget and pick a fun new date every month. Pick a time when you're not too busy with work or school. Think: pottery or painting class, watch a miniseries and ordering in, trying a new fishing/hiking spot, or even attending an evening (free or low cost) workshop together. We also attend the theater for musicals, plays and symphonies (if you sign up on email lists, it's very reasonable; often rush tickets are $15-25). Military, vets and their spouses, listen up! There are many successful women with careers here, with supportive retired family members willing and able to actively play a hands on role in raising the children. I include myself among them. Prior to generous entitlement spending in the US, such as Medicare & Social Security, grandparents raised grandchildren after the child was done breastfeeding. Our view of history is rather short; a career SAHM was not the 'norm' prior to the last 1-2 generations. "Retirement" for the elderly was a roof o…

We are tragically close to the tipping point. Over 70% of black children are born to unmarried parents. I believe it's 50ish% for hispanic children. Over 40% of white children are born to unmarried parents -- when that # goes over 50, then we're in serious trouble. The good news is, eliminating the welfare state or drastically cutting it back would immediately see marriage rates thrown back into the majority.

Lots of great summaries in your post. RPW is the same, but about how women should react to a commitment marketplace that doesn't favor them. This I find to not be true. I think the bar is set SO LOW for quality commitment-seeking women in today's marketplace, that the effort required is lower than ever in human history. Sex is cheaper than ever but intimacy is the most expensive it's ever been. (The actual struggle is in disengaging from the media behemoth.) Example: In a variety of social setti…

Woah. I will be mindful of this going forward. I absolutely LOVE helpful, unsolicited advice. My DH does not. But! The road to hell is paved with good intentions; doesn't matter what I'm trying to do, only matters the result. Just saying "ok, sure!" is better than "how about this".

Whoops! I don't subscribe to the NYT but it wasn't behind a wall for me, probably because I search-engined for it. Here it is: https://archive.is/Y4wSE Eg: I am better because I travel for grits. Grits are retro-cool and not low-brow culture. In actuality, Black Friday at Wal-Mart AND the leisurely all-inclusive mimosa brunches are two sides of the same coin: conspicuous consumption, all wrapped up as well deserved rewards.

Hope I'm not intruding on the back and forth - but the media drumbeat of "loans loans loans" is absurd for Millennials (at 28, I'm squarely in the middle of the generation, with my baby brother at the tail end and my DH at the upper end). I place the blame on the shoulders of the generation -- we all came of age in the age of the internet, you can't rely on "those around you" providing the best advice. Hmm. I disagree. I am not lucky. I did not make an ultimatum to him, either. That ultimatum was to myself. RPW is about hard truths - I knew my value. I smartly leveraged my value to earn a great husband. I did not live with him before he proposed. We spent many nights together, but we did not live together. I am not religious nor conservative - but I knew the evidence that when couples move in prior to engagement, the marriage rates are lower.

"Harmony, not glory". Great phrase. You have to give a little to get a lot. Do you genuinely find yourself arguing because you want to be better or you want to be right? Can you point to your past experiences in receiving external validation from others due to getting debates 'right'?

Overall good - if a little bit "gentle" for my sensibilities :-) RP tenants: Little boys vs little girls corn maze - boys focus on tasks, women focus on teamwork. Girls are better multitaskers; boys prefer sports and rough play and a hierarchy. "Sharing" - he made excellent points. Wow, I really like that theory and your phrasing on enhanced ability. Alpha Widows are effectively addicted to the dopamine release of great sex and other forms of validation by a dominant man. Fair question. I did research (2 years old now) that men over 30 propose within 12-16 months; after 18 IIRC, it drops dramatically. He dropped hints ~8 months in, and openly initiated the conversation 11 months into dating (I want to write a long thread on this, actually). He then informed me soon thereafter he was saving for a ring (his idea - I informed did not need or want one. I'm fairly minimalist - he'd been witness to that for over a year. Check out "refeed" or "reverse diet". In summary, you have to revert up to maintenance calories temporarily to "trick" your body into thinking there's an abundance of food, which increases your metabolism and ability to burn calories. After a small 2-4 week period of "reverse dieting", you can again cut again and see good results. This helps get past "sticking points".

I can't say this without appearing cruel. Know that's not my intention. You are not engaged. You were not proposed to. There is no secret little love bubble. Your high value alpha SO got high and said words to you he later firmly retracted. The man gets all of his needs met from you. My generation lives for social media. These elaborate proposals were staged and gave me a creepy vibe. They war too curated, too polished…I guess I see a proposal as more about the man. One man, one woman, both under 25. The man has varied interests and did not want to be married to his career. The woman wanted flexibility to prepare for being a wife and mother. I'm not knocking teaching. I'm giving pertinent advice to a college junior questioning her career path. She's proven to be a decent student in econ, of which there are plenty of job opportunities. I'm providing advice on specific jobs that are low hours and low stress, which she states she prefers. It would be foolish to extend schooling, incur more debt and loss of time, to earn a teaching degree.

Are you intelligent enough to sit for actuarial exams? This is an easy, technically skilled career that pays well. Have you considered financial/econ analysis for a small to mid sized company? Low stress, limited hours. I have friends who do this; they're paid modest salaries for very low commitments. You'll nurture your children; you don't need to teach to fill that void. If your strengths are econ/finance, stick with it. It's well paid and easy in certain situations. Just avoid business.

Candace Cameron Bure and Ree Drummond, aka the Pioneer Woman Candace put aside her career to be a mother and a supportive wife. She feel hard for her husband when he was basically nobody. Now that her husband's retired from hockey, he is the more at-home hands-on parent while her career flourishes. She has two boys and a girl (I have two brothers). Ree ditched city living and law school for the ranch. I give her a little less credit than Candace, because she's not into health/fitness, and Candac…

This post is absolutely all over the place. For those interested in the topic and "yes means yes" and the campus kangaroo courts that are throwing out young men for having consensual (regrettable by the female) intercourse while intoxicated, look into Helen Smith's work for more information. She is a naturally RPW psychologist currently focusing on men's rights issues.

+1 what Ms TemptestTCup said below. The nature of a man is to impress and care for a woman. If she appears high maintenance, that's spelling out "I intend to maintain this lifestyle; if I have to quit or scale back on work to have your babies, I will not be happy in a Pinto. Plan accordingly" It was 100% rational for DH to assume a consumer-driven girl would be more headache than they're worth. The clothes we wear, the way we speak, the jobs we work, where we choose to live, the vehicles we driv…

"I compare him to the standard I hold for other men" I was aware that I compared those I dated to my late high school-mid college ex. Where did yours come from? (examples: Dad..media…an ex) Be forthright. Hypergamy - must maximize always! Game is not confined to the the RP of reddit's definition, which is deeply rooted in sexual angst, frivorce and believing media's definition of "what women want". I'm talking very plain and simple sociosexual game: flirting, appearing slightly disinterested, be…

You're welcome. I like that you're chewing on things. It demonstrates a genuine desire for change and knowledge; not merely asking for "go gurrrl" rah rah rah, which - I'm sure you know - you can seek out quite easily.

I do think you're trying to be helpful. From the get go it was clear your advice was from a very male centric POV, with a smidge of white knighting. To be perfectly honestly, I lurked for a year before posting - and singleinbusiness's thread was why I joined. I saw many unique similarities, and pangs of "hey, that was almost me". We each own a successful business in male dominated fields. We do well for ourselves. We're almost the same age - I'm a smidge younger. The one difference is that I'm m…

I'm a relatively new poster, so I'll give you my quick stats: 28, newlywed, also male dominated field, own my own business. Don't shit where you eat. That means, don't date in your workplace. You'll get a reputation. If you're 100% certain this won't inhibit your life if you were to have an ugly breakup, proceed cautiously. And by proceed, I mean - don't contact him, for the love of all that's holy. Keep your shit together. Maintain an ideology of plenty of fish in the sea -- because, to be hone…

Thanks for your detailed response! --Looks: Above average - as in a 6/10 or as in a 9/10? Ocean of difference there. I went from a 6.5 to an 8.5 by losing some fluff and smiling and making eye contact with attractive people. I noticed you didn't mention your hair or your facial features. Also, of course men are approaching you about your looks. Looks start the whole ball rolling. After that, it's poise and personality. They don't care if you like NASCAR or hiking - are you pretty? This is a biol…

I'm going to go where no woman has gone before (in this thread!). We're going to talk looks, achievements and hypergamy. OP, I am a year younger than you. I began dating DH almost 3 years ago and we've been married almost 1 year. He's 6 years my elder. I run my own business, in a male dominated field, from which I am a top 10% earner in my city. Now, as cool as those things are -- not one of them make me a good wife, or formerly fiancé & girlfriend. If I wanted a great husband (I've got one) I r…

Lololol yes indeed, what will they do!? @tintedlipbalm - Did RPW change my perspective? Hmm. I'd say I was already primed, in search of more information. My husband's new(ish) workplace has a wonderful support group of cerebral, blue collar men; he's the youngest and genuinely feels a brotherhood he had missed dearly from the military. I don't have that in my field, but I hope to gain it with community involvement. Many of the stories from well grounded women in their 30's resonate with me. I fi…

I too am a tomboy, 7 years older than you. Don't change the base, just the ingredients. This is what I did 5 years ago... Fitted tshirts (no design or minimal, target's apt 9 or american apparel), tight jeans (without holes, rips, or major embellishments - I like Lucky). Heels (jessica simpson makes affordable well fitting heels). No ponytails unless you're cooking or working out. Polished hair - either straightened or well maintained curls. This was tough for me! Neutral makeup in 5-7 minutes: …

How did I find you - I read Instapundit nearly daily, and Glen Reynolds wife Helen is a psychologist often dealing with Men's Right's issues; some RPW was somewhere along the Internet Rabbit Hole! Lurking for about a year. I like to read and listen much more than I speak. Newlywed! First anniversary in January; together for 3 years in December. I'm 28 and he is 34. Why I de-lurked: So far I really enjoy the mods. They run a tight ship. I think I have something to contribute to women trying to fi…
