How did this happen? New Hampshire Liberty Forum. Both of these individuals have recognized that New Hampshire is the future of the libertarian movement, which comes at a cost --- it becomes a battleground. People will jump at the chance to have their opinion heard if they know the future is listening.

I could actually buy that we have socialized each other to feed women less. That doesn't matter because very few people in the Western world are malnourished to the point of stunting their growth. Childhood obesity is much more common than childhood malnourishment. And as another commenter already pointed out: Fat girls don't grow taller than men. Fat girls grow to be about the same height as non-fat girls.

our districting negates that. Are you implying districts are gerrymandered by gender?

People are different. I am different than you. I am different than I was yesterday, and different than I will be tomorrow. Men are different than women. Blacks are different than whites. History shows us time and time again that people aren't the same. If you want people to occupy the same status in the social hierarchy, you must either suppress the differences in their skills and preferences (by force), or suppress the reality of the consequences those differences entail (by force). I can't mor…

After expenses, labor, upkeep, depreciation,we would net anywhere from 800k to 1.5 million a year. How many are "we"? You did not make millions for your company.

making millions for a corporation but I only took home 60k a year, I always wonder about people who say this. Were you really making millions for them? If so, why didn't you demand a raise to 500k a year? Either your company was run by amazingly stupid people, or you specifically as an individual did not really contribute millions of dollars of productivity by yourself. I'm guessing the latter is more likely.

They'll have to get a lot of RINOs on board, because the Dems won't control Congress again until at least 2020.

I'm going to have to disagree with your use of the word "token." http://studentaid.ed.gov/repay-loans/forgiveness-cancellation As far as I can tell, if a loan was correctly issued, and if the loan recipient is not dead and not permanently disabled, the easiest and fastest way to have the loan forgiven is to become employed in "public service," in which case the loan will be forgiven after ten years of payments. Unless Congress radically alters the statutes surrounding student loans, I don't see …

And yet the comments sections in gender-related articles on ThinkProgress, MoveOn, Upworthy, and HuffPo predictably go this way. So yes, it is typical of the left.

Yeah, I get that she's being snarky. It just annoys me to see MRAs bring up "free speech" when someone moderates comments. Free speech means no one can stop you from expressing yourself. It doesn't mean other people provide you with a forum in which to express yourself.

You're definitely not wrong. But an advocate of the status quo would counter that "Everyone has the right to marry someone of the opposite gender, while no one has the right to marry someone of the same gender." It turns out that "equal treatment under the law" is actually in the eye of the beholder. Two people living under exactly the same law may be affected by it in radically different ways.
/r/MensRights28/01/14 08:47 PM
3

Fun fact: This is actually the reason the SCOTUS hasn't already found current marriage laws to be in violation of the Fourteenth Amendment. The same logic is used to justify the progressive income tax. "Rich people can pay a lower tax rate by having less money."

So someone who doesn't support the idea now uses the vague slur. I already know that there are liberals in the world. I already know that they have a boogeyman and his name is "trickle-down." I am looking for any quotation from anyone, anywhere who supports "trickle-down," and you clearly cannot provide one.
/r/MensRights13/01/14 02:24 PM
-2

I don't need a link to an article; I need a quotation from a person who supports "trickle-down." The only quotation on that page is from someone who says he doesn't support "trickle-down."
/r/MensRights13/01/14 01:34 PM

These are two totally different claims: What's good for business is good for the economy at large. What's good for the elite is good for the economy at large. If you can't cognitively separate the two, that would explain why you believe there are people who advocate "trickle-down." My taxes went down this year due to beneficial policies introduced by Republicans in my state, and I am very, very far from rich.
/r/MensRights13/01/14 01:33 PM

I have never heard anyone say that. I have never heard anyone, ever, support "trickle-down." I'm really interested to hear any direct quotation from any major figure who subscribes to this.

So in other words, it's vindictive. I can understand your reasoning for being vindictive. But that doesn't make you any less vindictive. No, we need to move beyond pedoscare, not apply it equally to men and women. Most people aren't pedophiles. Most people who are pedophiles, never act on it. Femgineers are terrible. I knew a couple of engineers in college who happened to be female, and were competent. They did NOT want to be associated with the other "female engineers" at all. The long-term effect of discrimination toward more femgineers will be that the over-all reputation of engineers-who-happen-to-be-female will go down unjustifiably.

It's such a slap in the face. I don't really care that there are no men in the picture. I care that they consciously went out of their way to include representatives of several different groups, and there's still not a single man.

What? That isn't any improvement. It's the same underlying fallacy. What happened here is illegal. Making it ultra double super awesome illegal won't do anything to help the situation at all. CaptSnap is the only commenter who got it right. The issue is drawing attention to class differences in how laws are enforced. We don't need to change any laws involved. The article is written with a very strong tone of "We're getting pretty close to stamping out women's disadvantage." The author appears to genuinely not understand that 60% is more than 50%. There is a consistent attitude that implies 60% is most of the way to 100%, as if equality would mean women controlling everything.

Another example of "male privilege," albeit one men bring upon themselves: Men gain social value through concerted action (usually hard work) while women inherently have social value because of the potential of sexual activity, and the willingness of men to do hard work for the benefit of others. How to solve? Be stingy with your time, put your own interests first, and support a woman if and only if she actually delivers some reciprocal benefit to you.

I'm not sure what AloysiusC meant by "how powerful" men are, but the correlation between violence, low incomes, and poor neighborhoods is extremely well-documented. This suggests, albeit does not prove, that violence is a tactic of last resort for the overwhelming majority of people in general. People will not turn to violence unless they believe they lack other options.

Your post is contrary to the title of this subreddit, men's rights. You appear to be reacting to a violation of men's rights by advocating for the violation of women's rights. Herein lies a crucial difference between the men's rights movement and the feminist movement: Men's rights is about liberation, not equalization. Don't drag everyone down to the same oppression.

Take a class on feminism taught by a feminist. It has nothing to do with identifying real victimhood, because real victimhood could potentially be combatted, and theoretically maybe even ended some day. Feminism promotes a collectivist theory of perpetual, inevitable victimhood, by which women need not suffer any tangible or definable acts of oppression in order to be continually oppressed. For a true dyed-in-the-wool feminist, the existence of men is oppressive to women.

I guess my follow-up question then, is how is a person supposed to report on a racially-motivated crime except by reporting on a racially-motivated crime? You appear to take the fact that the author explained the perpetrator's racial hatred as evidence that the author harbors racial hatred.

Meh. News media without an agenda is a myth. Every reporter has an ideology even if he or she genuinely wants to report objectively. You can't be in tune with the news and not have strong opinions. I would rather consume media with an agenda and simply be conscious and wary of the agenda, than delude myself into thinking the reporters aren't biased. As a very rare pro-choice Republican, I get a lot of attacks about how most Republicans are against "women's rights." It's pretty convenient that those evil woman-hating Republicans just happen to be against the one women's right that pertains to the life of an unborn child. Which is to say, woman-hating Republicans don't want to make it illegal for women to own property, or go out in public, or have a job. They just want to make it illegal for women to get an abortion. It has nothing to do with…

You either can't do math or aren't paying attention. Men kill themselves way more often than women, but women "attempt" to kill themselves way more often than men. The logical conclusion is that women lie, a lot.

The bottom line is that killing yourself isn't very hard, and got way fucking easier when the internet was invented. If you try to kill yourself and fail, I just automatically assume an 80% chance you never really wanted to go through with it.

More females say that they attempted suicide than males, but males aren't lying.

Yeah, I mean that's a strange way of putting it, but I guess we agree. There are unhealthy and irresponsible ways to have sex, but it doesn't have anything to do with the amount of sex you have. A person can be shameful in a single act of sex, or proud in a thousand acts. So the word "slut" doesn't make much sense to me.

I'm trying really hard to keep this as neutral as possible. That's my point. You are intentionally being neutral for the sake of being neutral. Your position on an issue should result from an evaluation, not start with the preconceived ideological notion that balance and compromise are inherently right. Between "Slavery should be abolished" and "Slavery should be preserved," there isn't a happy moderate compromise.

You can't just equate two different movements and say that anyone who categorically rejects either one is equally misguided. By the same logic, anyone who categorically rejects suicidal cults is also being too dismissive. Real evidence and a constructed argument for taking feminism seriously might compel people to take it seriously. Just saying Come on man, be reasonable isn't enough.

No, you don't need to be "taught" that you can decline to have sex with someone. You just have to be a functional human individual. That's exactly the mentality that ends up with feminist women saying they were "raped" because they had consensual sex in which the consent was not enthusiastic or some similar bullshit. Adults are adults. We should be shifting the dialog toward "Take responsibility for your decisions," not toward more of the touchy-feely "I had to be taught how to function as an in…

In high school it was explicitly taught to me at great length that consent must not only be verbal, but itemized. The point was driven home that just because a person may consent to one aspect of an encounter, doesn't mean I get to keep going without asking for permission to do more. I suggest home schooling.

Imagine Obama getting up on the national stage and saying with a straight face, "If Mitt Romney is elected then blacks will be banished from politics and afros will be the political plaything of whiteys." No one would take him seriously and he would be universally ridiculed. These are not the kind of remarks a national leader should ever consider.

Both sides feel harassed and bullied by the other, and neither shows any sign of backing down. Okay, but only one side called for banning the other from campus. So which matters more --- the feeling that both sides have of being harassed, or the fact that one side actually is?

Okay, there's not "no problem" with it. But it isn't a Men's Rights issue for a university to set up a women-only space. It is a Men's Rights issue for a university to set up a women-only space and then deny the equal right to set up a men-only space.

Ideally universities would radically shrink their agenda, and focus on providing only education. But as it is they already provide facilities for sports, exercise, cultural "diversity," GLBT support, etc etc. I see no reason they can't have men's spaces and women's spaces, too.

Do you think that's how people work? Has that ever worked for you? When you fought with your sibling(s) growing up, did your parents separate you or force you to sit together in the same room? Which strategy worked better? Would you rather have the freedom to get away from people you dislike, or do you believe social cohesion can be mandated? Do you think an external authority can compel people to like people they don't like?

There'd be no problem with a restaurant having a white-only entrance and not allowing blacks at all, as long as black people have the equal right to set up their own black-only restaurants, too. I wouldn't eat at either one of these restaurants. That's how rights work --- people make choices.

I think allocating a room based on gender or race is ridiculous and is against equality. No, allocating a room based on gender and refusing to allocate another room for the other gender is against equality. We must get over the idea that equality means denying differences. Equality means respecting differences.

No, she is a criminal. He is a victim if it was nonconsensual, which I believe, because that's what he said, and I have no reason to doubt him. But hypothetically, if it had been consensual, she would still be a criminal, but he would not be a victim.
