No down vote from me. I believe very strongly in equal rights, freedom of religion. But I also believe many rights come before religious rights. The right of the boy here come before the rights of the father to force him into a religion he does not want. I realised liberal has come to mean something different in the US than it does in the UK. Which is a shame because here liberalism is still seen as by it's definition a good thing. In the US it seems the right have attached it to the left and used it as a bad thing and thus over the decades in peoples minds it has come to mean something other than it's actual definition. What troubles me about this is how it effects the daughter. I guess the best person to answer is someone who was circumcised as an adult and has sexual intercourse before and after. I don't have to read this to know female circumcision is far worse. I am anti-male circumcision, but it is nothing compared to female circumcision. Male circumcision cuts of a piece of skin which might mean loss of sensitivity. Less pleasurable sex for both parties but still pleasurable. Female circumcision cuts out a lot more than skin. The entire clitoris is removed. It is a horrific mutilation.

I would never assign worth to someone. That seems rather cold. I stated elderly simply because they may need the most assistance, have the greater chance of being injured if bustled making there way to the boats. Letting them going first is both logical and humane.

Because they are more frail and will find it harder to get off the ship. Someone young can move faster and is more able to do things with out assistance. Elderly could have problems and be bustled about by younger people as they make their way to the boats and thus there could be chance of them getting injured.

This is why I do not like the idea of feminism. It automatically creates a divide. I think both genders should come together to seek equality. This is also why in many ways I have issues with this very sub-reddit because it also creates a them and us attitude rather than coming together.

Had this happen to me. Opened the door for a woman got called a sexist. And yet I open and hold the door for anybody regardless of gender etc. What really annoys me s when you hold the door and someone walks through without even saying thanks. Men always do say thanks. And to be fair most women do but there are some women who do not.

Chivalry is not dead. It has just evolved to become something greater and more noble. it it something those that have it show to anyone regardless of their gender. And it it done by both men and women. As pointed out my so many others. If you want equality, you cannot expect to keep those privileges had when things were not equal.
