Well I would say, without thinking too much, that a married man is, in the eyes of any state, "a better" consumer and tax payer. So I believe that the meta-narrative about the movie ir more about being a docile "citizen" that works, pays his price to the economy and dies. Just my two cents.

I would say it goes beyond technology. For instance if a bedroom (or common area) is not organized or clean. From my personal experience it just cascades everything in that person life. I've seen more of this on woman than in man.
