Same, though mine actually likes her kids (I think), but damn if every move she makes regarding custody isn't about extracting as much money as possible. The interest of the kids is secondary.

This was my situation. I was all for the no working before school age because it was basically a wash with what she made vs child care, but after school started she just decided she no longer wanted to work and did fuck all during the day. She didn't cook and almost never cleaned. The few years of spousal support I don't mind because we did agree to at least 5 years of no working and at the end of the day it actually costs me less to pay her spousal support vs paying for her. What I object to is…

I asked specifically about this and lawyer said I was under no obligation. (WA) They can't obligate you to take them. You get to determine how you spend your time with your kids.

No. Your time is your time. Your ex cannot dictate what you do with your time with the kids. You have zero obligation to take them.

Talk with your lawyer, but in my case it is date of separation. So you will need to have a value of all assets and debts for that day.

Not all of us are bitter and in hindsight we can see what mistakes in decision making were made. I'm not against marriage as there are some benefits, but holy hell has my requirements criteria been raised.

This goes along the lines of what I was going to say. Marriage in and of itself isn't bad and has some benefits. The problems come from, for lack of a better term, an effort imbalance. If you marry someone who never has a steady or good job, is perpetually under employed, prioritizes leisure vs work or saving money, and is overall lazy when it comes to being a full fledged adult, realize that they will not change and in the event of divorce you will be supporting them. Having kids only exasperat…

I would get legal advice on the noncompete. In almost all common use cases where an employer makes an employee sign one they are invalid. If they are preventing you from getting a job in your field they have to compensate you for that. About the only time they are valid is when you sell a business to another entity so that you don't immediately compete with the business you just sold. At the individual employee level though they are almost never valid.

The other spouses refusal to work impacts child support as well. (Talking 50/50 split.) If you can't be bothered to make enough money to support your kids for two weeks out of the month then they probably shouldn't live with you until you can support them. You can have visitation. In the majority of situations spousal/child support shouldn't exceed 25% of someone's take home pay. The calculations seem to only consider what the lazy parent needs.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
