Had a guy do this to me, but it was an email 2 full years after I told him to get lost (he was cheating on his girlfriend with me, I found out, told the girlfriend). Saying “you were my true soul mate, I’ve lost out forever on happiness.” It’s been 9 years and I haven’t answered. Either block, refuse the request, or leave it pending so he wonders. DO NOT engage with him. He’s shown you who he is.

Your description was clear, my response was an attempt to reiterate your point, you are right on all of this.

These are not “I wish he were blonde but he’s a redhead” concerns. The feeling that he’s not being forthcoming about your political differences is a bigger deal than the differences, imho. “Bad at choosing,” like he can’t plan a date, so how would he be as a husband and father? And you’re right about the fixation on killing people not being normal. I would call it off after this date if I were you.

May I suggest “The Proper Care and Feeding of Husbands” by Dr. Laura? This addresses a lot of your questions.

My husband is a phenomenal steward of our home and of his rental properties - always fixing the inside and outside, and caring for the yard. I bring a cold beverage out to him when he’s been outside for a bit, and make sure I have a nice lunch ready. He’d never ask for it, but he always finishes it. :) So yes, I totally do this. You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
