You can still get fingerprinted easy with Firefox. Use Tor if you want real privacy. Firefox is great for regular use though. https://element.io/ is probably a better alternative for group messaging. Also E2E

My logical, conscious brain would agree with you. My subconscious does not. No, in fact I respect people that make the effort to have friendly conversation, considering we’re complete strangers. The sad thing is I’ll often be self conscious even if it’s someone else that initiates.

How do you overcome the feeling when you actually piss someone off? The feeling that you’re the bad guy ruining someone else’s day? Is it just a matter of reps? Often when I try initiating conversations I’ll get stuck in my head and be deathly afraid of messing up the conversation. Afraid of becoming a complete fuckup nobody likes. Inevitably this is a self fulfilling prophecy and the other party feels my discomfort...

You could be right, but this is assuming the reported numbers from China are correct. But why would China ever lie? I’d watch what they do not what they say about the virus.

Acceptance is the first step to real change. Accept yourself as you are.

You can block adult content on iPhones using the Screen Time app. Have someone you trust enter a pin for you if you need.

You cannot directly control your mind, but you can observe it, gain distance from your thoughts, and then act in spite of it.

Is there anything else you did/do that contributes to lessening flat feet?

It’s like you’re describing exactly what goes on in my head. The only thing I’ve found to consistently quiet the thoughts (like psychedelics can sometimes) is meditation. 10-15 minutes is good, but 45 minutes to an hour is when you start noticing real changes. Reading a book on how to meditate, or following a set practice is also better than just sitting there. It isn’t a quick fix, but I see it like the gym for your mind. You need to consistently practice over a long period of time, as well as …

How do we outgrow it? Is it just a matter of facing the rejection / pain over and over again?

I’ve actually done psychedelics a few times, namely acid. The trip starts with the usual visuals and thinking weird thoughts. I’ve noticed during the comedown however my shame and social aversion amplifies and I just want to hide. My shame for having needs becomes particularly bad. Perhaps I’m avoiding my repressed feelings still? How can I truly ride this out in the future? I’ve recently started following The Mind Illuminated for my meditation practice. I’m still in the early stages though. I’v…

Are you willing to learn new things for the rest of your career, and fall at risk of falling behind and/or burning out if you don’t? Do you enjoy grinding away at invisible problems over and over again until you finally see them? Do you like realizing you don’t really know anything and have no idea what you’re doing, but are willing to continue eating shit to progress? Then definitely pursue coding as a career.

Ok, but Fidel never asked for help? He did it all by himself, with no advisors to rely on?

Try meditation. A daily practice will expand into naturally being more mindful/aware throughout the day. It can help clear your head and ground yourself.

Why not both? The body and mind are connected. There are health benefits to working out besides just appearances. Besides, it’s pointless to wait until your mind is “healthy enough” to work out. Just work out, and get yourself sorted out at the same time.

Fapping is not being sexually active. Having sex is. If you fap every day you release prolactin which lowers testosterone. Research shows not ejaculating raises T for around a week then drops off. Of course NoFap isn’t a silver bullet, but it’s not like it doesn’t do anything. Limiting yourself to once a week has benefits, but if you’re an addict you have no choice but to stop altogether.

Yes but testosterone and hormones definitely have an impact

Yeah keep trying but not mindlessly. Figure out when, where, why you did it. Then try again with those things in mind. Experiment and learn from your mistakes.

Ok, advocates lol. Not saying it’s law, but it’s a common theme around here that I personally agree with.

Not really, but isn’t that what TRP preaches? Not commercials per say, but any media one consumes in general.

Right, but feelz aside it is still worth considering that this is a sales pitch. I’m not saying the post is garbage or gold, but that its content should be critically assessed with all factors in mind. Including the possibility that it may be a sales pitch.

I personally use Insight Timer, and I’ve been following a guided meditation course. Sure it’s best to go straight to silent meditation. However, as a beginner whose mind wanders everywhere, it’s incredibly helpful to have a guiding voice to bring your awareness back.

How much would you saying quitting PMO helped? Did you have to push yourself to overcome your social anxiety, or did it come naturally as a result of becoming healthier and better on monk mode?

I’ve just started consistently going to the gym. I had the same problem for the longest time. Everyone here is right, nobody is really looking at or judging you. They’re focused on themselves. For me, I had to just force myself to do it. Start with the basics, and just go for it. Watch YouTube videos for form. Practice at home in the mirror. But just do it. It’s worth it. I guarantee you’ll feel so much better about yourself after if you force yourself to do what you’re afraid of. I know I do.

“If you are distressed by anything external, the pain is not due to the thing itself, but to your estimate of it; and this you have the power to revoke at any moment.” One of many quotes from the book that apply to this situation.

I personally tend to burn out and feel depressed/lethargic if I’m relying on anger after a while. Is there a proper balance of gratitude and anger to keep my mind calm enough to be productive? Or am I just being a pussy and need to push harder with the anger?

As a completely clueless beginner, how do you go about choosing a gym, especially one that keeps its beginners safe (from brain damage especially)?

So it's a matter of demanding less, and doing more? I feel completely stifled and unable to socialize normally because I feel like I'm so stuck at the bottom. I'm unsure of how to stop this default behavior/thinking pattern. This becomes easier after achievement then? I want to be sociable before I get there, or must I suck it up and accept that I'm shit until I'm not? I don't want to sound as if I'm complaining, but some people with very little achievement/action can socialize without a care in…

I do believe I have anxiety, but I'd much rather stay away from meds and focus on natural remedies. I tend to ruminate and self attack when I fuck up in these situations. I will definitely try to observe and meditate on those feelings more. I think you're right that I don't practice enough. I'm gonna try and work on this as well.

How do I live for myself when I subconsciously hate myself? I've grown up my whole life believing that deep down I'm bad, unworthy, and selfish. Anytime I make a mistake or feel like I offend someone I feel a deep sense of "badness". Sometimes I'll even feel a sharp physical pain in my chest. Even if I believe I'm right, I can't handle the feeling. I believe I'm weak and inferior for feeling that way, fueling the cycle. This makes my social interactions complete shit, as I'm avoiding rejection t…
