"FDS makes most women undateable." For you, sir, for you.

Came here to say this, I also have some additional thoughts: *Don't buy a place/move in with a boyfriend. The handbook goes more into why this is a bad idea. *You need to break up with him. If you don't he thinks that he can keep lying to you because he made such a big lie here and you let it fly. To be clear, anything less than breaking up is letting it fly. Again, I am really sorry this happened to you.

I am indeed! Yes, like all hard things, it is very much worth it.

Just came to say that you have a killer username. Also, this is a quality I am working on myself. It is harder than you realize to not fall prey to other people gossiping!

Yay! It won't be easy, but stick with it!

How do you meet so many men? Without the use of OLD, that is? I completely agree btw, I'm going to be the type who skips girlfriend and goes straight to fiancé. However, this has always baffled me.

I agree. By responding to the "wall" argument, we are legitimizing its premise: a large part of a woman's worth lies in her looks.

Came here to say that I love the allusion to Plato's Cave Allegory. It is a perfect illustration.

I read it that way too.

He is (was?) the richest man in history, if you look up what his wealth would be today (between 300 and 372 billion dollars).

I have. I don't see anything relevant to this question other than the rejecting the premise of this question entirely. If you can point me in the right direction, it would be much appreciated. I only wanted to ask fellow FDSers what I should do. Regardless, I will delete and post on AskFDS.

This! I work for a major auto parts retailer, and the amount of women who come in who don't know how to do basic things makes me sad. Changing batteries, fuses, wiper blades, and bulbs is so easy! The first time you do it, you will agree.

All of this. Also, try out that "Let's just see where this goes" ambiguous line when they hassle you for commitment.

I feel it's a manipulation tactic. With dating, you're better off thinking "guilty until proven innocent," or that a doubtful behavior is a red flag until proven beyond a reasonable doubt to be a green one. Usually, though, they stay red flags.

Ah yes, our good friend the ad hominem. Insulting the other side doesn't gain you any points, dude.

On one hand I think it is crass and degrades women. The fact that women are doing it offhandedly and that it has become culturally acceptable makes me sad. On the other hand, used in a specific context, bitch is an positive term that refers to women who don't take anyone's crap and harbor no illusions.

You might be able to drop for a while and come back when he is gone because you are no longer there. Do you have any close friends in this group? Maybe you can ask someone to contact you when he leaves.

You can train yourself relatively easily. Check out the handbook. Try catching yourself when you start to idealize him. Tell yourself, "He's just a friend." It WILL get easier the more often you do it, until your brain does it on its own.

Please read the handbook. When you are confused about how a man acts, that is almost always a sign to get him out of your life.

A lot of your worries can be addressed by going slow in a relationship. Nothing is ever sure, but it is hard for the vast majority of men to keep up an act for long. This is why you stay emotionally guarded and distant. Read this part of the handbook and learn it like the back of your hand. I've found that coping with being single is easier if you focus on other parts of your life, education, career, hobbies, etc. Throw yourself into them. Tell yourself that "No one is going to hold me back." Th…

I stopped reading at the age gap. I'm not much older than you. I know where you are coming from, but for your own sake do not contact him. Edit: Men who like you will be a dime a dozen, trust me. It may not feel that way now, but just wait. You don't have to like, nor should you like, anyone you likes you just because they like you.

I came here to say the same thing. "Vibe" or any of its derivatives is a red flag.

There's this saying I believe is absolutely essential for every woman to know and believe in the modern dating world: Talk is cheap. Tell yourself that until your mind parrots it without prompting. Soon you will believe it and understand that actions really do mean a thousand words. Is his words say respect and his actions say disrespect, believe he disrespects you.

Girl he's saying you're replaceable. I would essentially say the same thing back to him and dump him. Next!

No, it is absolutely not common. I would say it is a red flag if he wants you to pay for him. Check out the handbook and see more red flags and warning signs. A man who likes you and treasures you won't let you buy anything for him.

If he comes after you in person, get him in public where people can see and threaten him with a restraining order. I've had to do that with stalkers before and it has worked wonders. Most of these low-lifes are cowards and will leave you alone when you push back, especially in public. Stay safe and be smart about it, though.

Wow I think I wrote this 6 months ago. I'm a college girl too whose friends are all in relationships with guys who treat them great. Meanwhile all I get are men who want me for a hookup. It used to really bother me, but I've gotten over it now. Please PM me so we can talk more in depth!
