"If they want equality, then there's your equality right there." This is not equality. Equality would have been him throwing a drink back in her face. Drink in face = broken jaw/possible concussion/other potential broken bones/possible brain damage/etc. I don't think that "equals" out.

Dude, I am very aware of the law. All the examples you provided (yes, I read every single one) does not refer to the victim (person being "attacked" with a drink) retaliated with their fists/feet, and considered defending themselves. Each case involved someone throwing a drink and then the cops showed up and made the arrests. If you reread my post, it refers to you throwing fists in retaliation to a drink being tossed on you. LOL way to be an extremist. Good luck fighting the world. Also, it's not assault and battery. Make sure you avoid pool parties, water balloon fights, and drunken house parties (you will always end up with some kind of fluid on you). You're going to learn real fast when the police arrive and find that you punched someone in the face after they threw a drink at you.
