Thank you for reminding me of this case! It's so easy to remember the big headlines at the beginning and forget the "oh she lied" follow up that gets briefly mentioned and discarded in half a news cycle.

The worst thing is the sex offender registry part. His life is essentially ruined because he has to register as a sex offender. It's totally ridiculous how all of these people who've never been a threat to anyone are suddenly on a list of threats to society just because of an innocent mistake or a minor lapse in judgement.

You're right, my bad. I meant to say "sentenced" instead of "jailed" but wasn't paying enough attention. Regardless though, he's now a registered sex offender, which imo is worse than the jail time.
