Man there's no true human. We all have different opinions and perceive the world differently, I don't understand. Oh man, the circlejerk here is depressing. Having a balance panel would be awesome, but not always possible. Most people would agree that it is a shame. It's not that they did not invite women, it is that at short notice none could make it. Do we even know if anyone complained? No. This is rude at best, a straw man at worst. I like this community for its critical interpretation of gender issues, not its need to put people down.

I would agree except I would add that the social skills and the cultural capital they get from being wealthy is a form of dominance that allows them to stay on top. By having been born wealthy they have the knowledge on how to act wealthy and keep themselves apart from everyone else. Even if they were to lose all their money they still have inherited connections and attitudes from their social circles that would still give them an up.

Hmm. I can't speak for the EU, but depending on class and ethnicity (French or English), women weren't always involved in the house work as we are stereotyped to believe. In a course I took on Women in Canada's history (not intensely feminist or anything), we examined some case studies of women who were involved in things other than the home. I made this argument to a feminist once before too. Her response? 'Well womens issues affect more of the population so we should deal with it first... ' which is a greatly ironic statement because thats what feminists were told by socialists in the 1970s.

Wouldn't actually creating those places for men be a more practical use of the time though? If men can demonstrate the empirical usage of mens shelters etc. Then it will be easier to shut up the naysayers. Thats because those two sons could have reproduced with two different women and they would still share theh sane grandfather right? They dont need to inbreed for that to occur. That line of 'adam' could be split in so many ways involving other groups of men and women as well. The biological adam and eve (who by the way did not live at the same time) would have had multiple partners. That is just where the prominent split occurs. Its really interesting stuff though.

What are you talking about? Why not have a female actually win as PM? Kim Campbell doesn't count because she wasnt democratically elected. Also canada has at least 3 premiers who are in power right now (BC, Alberta, Ontario) and they're doing as well for their respective parties as their previous male counterparts.

Thats Interesting, I'm going to disagree, and the reason I do is because of power imbalances. Thanks for saying this. As someone who is currently studying sociology and interested in deviance, subcultures and symbolic interactionism, I don't understand why people think sociology is a small field filled with militant feminists trying to take away their rights. Feminism itself is an umbrella term too. But no one acknowledges that.

So are you saying that people don't tell women that they deserved to get rape, or to blame them for their clothing? I don't personally like the term rape culture because I think it's just one of those lines people can drop into sentences. The same goes for "patriarchy". Sorry for that segue, I'm just curious what you think they believe 'rape culture' means. You kind of use the term expecting I'm going to know exactly what you are talking about.

Feminism makes it so women don't like bad boys during the recession... Wait what? Also the Toronto cop actually said that "women should avoid dressing like sluts" it wasn't a suggestion to be prudent. Rape is bad whether it's male-female, female-male etc. so I don't get why those are bad things...
