School fucked me up as a dude with ADHD. If nothing else, I wish the self-destruction and/or deaths of despair amongst men was taken more seriously. It's wild to me that this isn't seen as a massive public health crisis. Deaths of despair alone have more than doubled since 2004 for some demographics. If the democrats were smart they'd try to bring men on board. However, the hivemind seems to be doubling down and further blaming men. It wouldn't even take much, just 1-2 sentences acknowledging the frequency of deaths of despair, or the differences in education/childhood development and how boys fall behind academically much more easily. Acknowledging those issues does not in any way reduce the issues of other groups.

Dealing with this too. I'm told that I'm 'in the right pay range for my location and experience', but it's all based on their internal research or some shit. It's like IT at big companies. You think you don't need it when things are going well, but when shit hits the fan, you suddenly need them again. And the companies who downsized or outsourced their IT departments end up regretting it when you have something like the Crowdstrike outage in July. Everyone has a role to play. AA = Alcoholics Anonymous. I was using it more generically though, I really just mean a substance abuse group in general, which is something I had to use a few years ago to get my shit in order. There are many different types out there, but AA is the most well known.

I'm over here strongly considering going back to AA mainly for the tight community, where I can actually voice my issues and have them validated and understood. Usually not male only, but often primarily, depending on the group. And shout out to the women I've met in AA, they are much more understanding of the struggles of many men.
