Sorry I'm immune to shit stirring
/r/PurplePillDebate28/07/22 05:35 PM

How did she insult Legolas? LotR never showed Legolas as a husband so it's open-ended whether he's be a good husband or not.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/07/22 04:26 PM

Legolas all day
/r/PurplePillDebate28/07/22 02:14 PM

The women on the extremes are pretty, the one in the blue is decent looking, the fourth girl is.... homely.

Yea him! Do you know if he's ok?
/r/PurplePillDebate27/07/22 05:45 PM
1

Oh no... I really hope he's okay and that he knows there's enough of us here who care about him.

Hahaha saved & subscribed to your YouTube channel, "Fake Happily Ever Afters!"

Hey what happened to the really young guy who was pretty active on this sub and who didn't have much luck with the ladies? His handle was Snow something or Bunny or something like that, I think. Is he okay? I'm a bit worried about him. Used to live someplace rural, was trying to catch a raccoon a couple months back cos it was bothering him.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/07/22 05:23 PM

Harsh economic realities which gut certain communities, paired with a gradual erosion of family and community bonds, are mostly the cause for male hopelessness. Sharing feelings isn't the big bad of this scenario.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/07/22 05:05 PM
1

Cool thanks for answering
/r/PurplePillDebate27/07/22 05:03 PM
2

Good point, entirely possible if not likely.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/07/22 05:02 PM
1

Haha that's fair. But I genuinely do want to know who, if they are your peer, you would consider your equal match.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/07/22 04:47 PM
2

I definitely have no clue and won't pretend to know anything about them. I'm just going off of what the OP said. He made it seem like the Haitian and Ghanaian ladies are more innocent and genuine, whereas the American "hoes" as he loving calls them have been around the block to always be on the lookout for players.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/07/22 04:46 PM
1

Sorry I don't know what "swarm off people" means.... or did you mean "swearing off people?" Is so sounds like for someone to be an MGTOW one needs to consciously decide to rule out dating at all, right? Not playing gotcha or anything, I just don't know what MGTOW really means.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/07/22 04:44 PM
2

I am familiar with this user, he's openly stated he's a player, which was the only reason I mentioned players. Also, read his very last sentence - there's no way you can read "not going to stop gaming these American hoes" and not think he's a player.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/07/22 04:43 PM
1

Players definitely have their place in society
/r/PurplePillDebate27/07/22 04:37 PM
1

I'd say about ~30% of each gender is Good. An additional ~15%-30% is Good-ish.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/07/22 04:35 PM
1

So who, if she were to be your peer, would be an even match for you? Or is no peer an even match at all?
/r/PurplePillDebate27/07/22 04:33 PM
1

No thoughts on your wall of word salad. But who exactly qualifies as a MGTOW? Would a guy who's going through his life not really on dating apps but also not dismissing the possibility of a romantic relationship if it were to happen an MGTOW? Or does a guy need to have consciously and deliberately sworn off all such relationships for him to be MGTOW?
/r/PurplePillDebate27/07/22 04:32 PM
2

American girls are used to players like you, so they're callous. Now whether the player came first or the American girls' callousness came first is the perennial chicken-egg question.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/07/22 04:30 PM
1

Ohhh you're 47. And you think going on a date with a fairly attractive 48 year old is beneath you...?
/r/PurplePillDebate27/07/22 04:28 PM
2

How old are you and why on earth are you going on dates with 48 year old women?? Also, if you knew that you're only on this date for practice with the *real* dates, why be disappointed in yourself that you should be better than this - you already say you're only on this date as practice, this isn't your true caliber...?
/r/PurplePillDebate27/07/22 04:10 PM
1

This is good advice just across the board for any person, and I’ll agree especially for a man.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/07/22 12:40 AM
1

Wow that's just so sad
/r/PurplePillDebate26/07/22 11:23 PM
1

You know, I feel there may be 2 things at play when you hear that statement. One is that it's just socially established that the "lady" must always be complimented, so the guy will always be openly told he's lucky to be with her. The second is that guys still largely value looks (over status and money) so the STEM guy's guy friends will talk about how he was lucky to bag an attractive one. But trust me when I say the girls will be telling the pretty one just how SHE lucked out by being with this…
/r/PurplePillDebate26/07/22 09:58 PM
2

I actually disagree people think ONLY the guy is dating up in this scenario. In my experience, unless the girl is equally as smart and successful AND pretty (where he's below average looking and/or socially awkward), people think they're evenly matched. So a dumb but pretty girl with a smart successful STEM guy is deemed an even match.
/r/PurplePillDebate26/07/22 09:47 PM
3

The smart successful BUT socially awkward [insert any field, not just STEM] guy is considered to have "dated up" if with a pretty girl only because that pretty girl validates how crazy smart and successful he is. Because she's with him *despite* his awkward social skills, which emphasizes how successful he must be.
/r/PurplePillDebate26/07/22 09:32 PM
3

I'm pretty sure this is a troll
/r/PurplePillDebate26/07/22 07:06 PM
1

Already said the 2 concepts can overlap
/r/PurplePillDebate26/07/22 07:05 PM
1

... and your husband is 50?
/r/PurplePillDebate26/07/22 06:20 PM
1

We'll just have to agree to disagree on this one :)
/r/PurplePillDebate26/07/22 04:43 PM
2

They can overlap but often don't I think. Like, I can be contemptuous of a person's career choice (if I wanted to be a dick) but not resentful of it. I can be resentful of my partner's insistence to have a child, but not contemptuous of it.
/r/PurplePillDebate26/07/22 04:17 PM
2

Resentment might give contempt a good run for its money I reckon.

Reading that single mom thread today... yowza. So it's either violent criminal degenerate men who get laid or it's the super boring but morally always good nerd? Say goodbye to Gray everybody.
/r/PurplePillDebate26/07/22 12:11 AM

LOL. Did the guy who was thirsting after her, MattSec or something like that, also come back? Just catching up on my PPD folks/drama.

Agree with all of your statements. Japan needs a societal overhaul. It's already starting to do so by welcoming more immigrants compared to past decades but their salaryman culture combined with treatment/attitudes towards women and gender expectations (on both sides) need to change.

I don't know why that OP didn't say a word about her two friends allowing that stranger to clear out her stuff and seat. I wouldn't care so much about a stranger being rude as much as my own friends allowing it to happen without a word. She sucks too.

Another user corrected my stance that Christianity preaches sex only for procreation. I was going by what I've seen in America where back in the day married couples on TV were considered scandalous if they slept in the same bed unless they were trying for a baby.
/r/PurplePillDebate14/04/22 03:54 PM
2

Oh how informative, TIL! I always thought, because of how the American media and public showed couples sleeping in separate beds unless they were trying to have a baby, meant Christianity preaches sex only for procreation.
/r/PurplePillDebate14/04/22 03:26 PM

Very religious people believe sex is only for creating life. So once they decided to stop trying for more kids, it makes sense for a really religious woman to turn off the sex tap. Sounds to me like it’s your friend who was liking the idea of being very religious while the wife really WAS religious. This is another reason why men going after religious women can come with a nasty plot twist.

If you know the answer, why even ask? And if it's so easy to find a girlfriend within 24 hours by going to bars/clubs, why're you already doing that?
/r/PurplePillDebate14/04/22 01:54 AM

you don’t want friends but a girlfriend Just go to the girlfriend store then We can only give you human advice, not feed your delusions. Like someone asks how to lose weight and getting upset at being told they need to eat less and exercise more. Jesus.

If you've moved to a new city, I assume you have moved either for school or job. So start there by inviting coworkers/students to happy hour and make friends and acquaintances. That way you get invited to their events which will have their friends and acquaintances. Find someone in those secondary groups to date. Pretty simple, just need to be social and take initiative and out in effort. like with everything in life.

I don't doubt that those cases and situations exist. But largely they're not actually assholes and the women aren't attracted to asshole men. This sub loves to mischaracterize cocky guys as abusive assholes.

I'm a mix. I wouldn't share some of the opinions I voice here IRL, but I'm actually a lot more measured in many of my responses here than I would be if I were speaking with my close friends/husband.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/04/22 09:53 PM
1

I suspect there's a bit of hyperbole and humor going on when girlfriends call their SOs "asshole" or some such. When I sometimes say my husband is "a total douche" to a friend of mine, I don't actually mean that he is and I trust my friend to know that I don't mean it. It's usually like, "Argh friend, my husband is such a dick *haha is implied*"
/r/PurplePillDebate13/04/22 09:41 PM

To a spineless doormat pushover, a guy who can stand up for himself, is assertive without being rude, and is confident without being arrogant is an asshole. Sort of the like the flipped version of "To those in privilege, equality is oppression" but in the dating context.

I don't need to hamster. My friend in college who missed ~ 70% of classes and has lost track of time due to doing E and pot went on to graduate with decent grades and land a table job at a Fortune 500 company right out of school. He's then gone on to become senior management at a few Fortune 100/50 companies. He's not an outlier either. I used to routinely skip classes in college but did well enough to land at a Top 50 law school, where I would not uncommonly :wake and bake." Still graduated qui…

No mention of I could change him. Don't go putting words into my mouth. I just said people change throughout life for a whole host of reasons. I was not the same person I was at age 18 that I was at 22 or 30 or 40. Are you telling me people stay exactly how responsible they are at 20 as at 35? Your college drug dealer is nowhere the same as the drug dealers you see on The Wire or Breaking Bad. You're the one who should win the award for mental gymnastics if you think they are on the same level.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/04/22 06:47 PM
-1

Why's that college guy a loser? He got into the same college that the nerdy guy also got into. Plus, college is where many people explore, fuck up, do a whole bunch of dumb shit but eventually straighten out. They go on to get their life on track and become the stable guy with a stable job and a stable relationship. I don't see why the insistence that a 20 year old college pothead has to remain that way for the rest of his life. Here's a radical idea: People change.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/04/22 06:08 PM

Your dorm drug dealer was still in college and presumably dealt weed? How's that comparable to the guy in the video?

So Gottfried was a black piller. I didn't think of it before but now that I do, it makes sense. He's like the Patton Oswalt in the comedy world even though Oswalt is pretty blue pilled. Which makes sense because I can't think of a single sexually/romantically attractive thing about Gottfried but Oswalt is still marginally more masculine than him.

Yea it's the way they're interpreting investment that's wild to me. Investment typically means the person putting money into something is the investor and the thing is the investment. So to hear women say a man putting money into them (investor) means THEY are investing in the guy is just whacky. Also: Making him feel wanted, showing that you are interested in him, illustrating that you want to be in a relationship with him/are welcoming to the idea if its early. You are very thoughtful to even call out that I shouldn't take it personally :) You make a fair point, I've not dated since 2009 and definitely have no idea how Tinder and other apps work and have affected the dating attitudes for young folk. That said, I literally don't understand how someone can think a person paying is also the person being invested in. Like what...?
/r/PurplePillDebate12/04/22 06:00 PM

It's annoying AF. Even more annoying is when people are talking past each other about this because one camp is using HVM the way RP use it and the other is using it the way FDS women use it. Completely different definitions (albeit with some overlap) yet each side will somehow refuse to clarify their definition and usage.
/r/PurplePillDebate12/04/22 05:57 PM

letting a man pay for you on dates was the same thing as investing in him/relationship I can't even begin to wrap my head around this

I'm also worried about us 'matching' out in public. For his sake I hope she stops seeing him. What a dumbass. But by day two I realized that he was treating me like a child. And actually worse than a child because it's inhumane to ignore a child for days at a time. I just can't even.

The power imbalance grosses me out. The lack of commonality grosses me out. The superficiality of valuing looks/money grosses me out. Mind you, all these are not a guarantee, which is why I said at the very outset that exceptions exist. Interracial relationships, if based on valuing looks/money, without anything else, would gross me out too. But fortunately that's not the case. Age =/= race ffs.
/r/PurplePillDebate09/04/22 03:13 AM
5

Every case is different. Yea I already said: There will always be exceptions. When I was 41 I got into a relationship with a 28yr old. Already addressed when I said: I am repulsed by anyone dating someone with a double digit age gap if one of them is under 28-30. Given your lack of reading comprehension and lack of logic, yours would be an easy exception even if you were 41 dating an 15 year old.

Fair criticism. Let me rephrase: I believe the power imbalance objectively exists in a significant number of those kinds of relationships. Hence my issue with it. I won't deny your lived experience and what you've seen, so sure, your opinion makes sense from your perspective.
/r/PurplePillDebate08/04/22 07:32 PM
8

I don't wish to argue with you but I will say a double digit age gap relationship with someone under 28-30 comes with too much power imbalance which has a significant risk of going against the younger partner. I believe this objectively. So I'll advise anyone I am invested in against those relationships and I'll share this advise if actively solicited by someone I don't have that investment in. Beyond that, people will continue to do what they want to and I'll live my life the way I want to... a…

Currently monogamous doesn't address what I said in my original comment. I already said you don't need to be attacked and that your opinions/advice about non-relationship issues should be considered on their own merits.

There will always be exceptions. But by and large, I am repulsed by anyone dating someone with a double digit age gap if one of them is under 28-30. Don't care if the younger one is a guy or gal. It's just gross to me. I'll still side-eye any relationship with a larger than 10 year gap, even over the age of 30, but it wouldn't bother me the way the above would.

I don't actually know, is it infamous? I have a couple of friends who were stationed in the SK airforce base, but they were a married couple and probably didn't experience anything untoward. Are the army and airforce bases the same or different out in SK?

I'll be honest I've never heard of her nor am I familiar with any feminist rhetoric, except that my understanding of feminism as a movement is to have men and women treated as equals and have equal rights (voting, serving on the jury, working professionally and taken seriously by their peers, etc). Lady, you talked about how you're in a marriage where your husband has the option to have "concubines" while you will observe strict monogamy. You don't need to be attacked but knowing that about you certainly colors my opinion on what you have to say regarding relationships.

I can see why not giving women the choice at that time would make sense. It'd be like giving certain racial groups the "choice" to go to a segregated school or seek segregated housing etc. It's not a meaningful choice. Mandate it (with heavy supervision) so that women working out of the home is normalized, then course correct.

There was an entire episode based on Costanza getting good looking women by pretending he was engaged to a model (social proof/preselection); Elaine stating the male form is simian in nature whereas the feminine form is a work of art and therefore desirable; Costanza dates a stunning woman who usually would be out of his league (more than normal) purely by him pretending he's succeeded in NYC in a very short amount of time, thereby indicating status. These are just off the top of my head.

Us females are not raised to handle rejection very well. It's mostly the SAH type that doesn't handle rejection well. Other women, even if not taught at home, get taught rejection plenty well because we seek the "discomfort" of working outside the home and where the world is oftentimes not as cozy or as sheltered as one's home. u/Asatmaya

You expect a parent to tell their 11 year old daughter to "stand up for herself" to a 20+ catcalling guy? That's just so idealistic its downright stupid. I'll never raise a daughter to be that dumb. I'll teach any son of mine to not catcall and to not surround himself with boys who partake in or encourage that kind of behavior. I'm not gonna teach him to walk up to a catcaller and get into a physical fight though.

No parent can protect their child from all harm. I'll teach them to shrug things off as early as possible. The discerning/discriminating part comes later and that'll be helpful to them in refining what they should shrug off/take in stride (like catcalling) and what to internalize and process (constructive criticism, for e.g.).
/r/PurplePillDebate07/04/22 06:35 PM

What advice would you give to father's of daughters? Depends on what kind of father. If I were a parent, I'd raise my kids to generally have a thick skin and not to internalize everything that they experience. Teach them to be more discriminating and discerning across the board.

I agree with you that the pro-choice camp painting any argument against abortion as a means to control women or hate on women is reductive and wrong. I don't know for the overall male population. But from what I've seen within my expansive social circle, almost no men will take a woman whom they don't inherently respect, which includes things like her interests, hobbies, education, career/job, etc. Based purely off of my personal experience, it sounds like the men who can't be arsed about women's personalities or interests are LVM with very limited dating pools themselves.

The OP comes from a family where her mom constantly chased drama and dopamine and had crazy relationships. OP grew up around it. So she chased that same feeling but those other guys didn't commit to her. She couldn't be alone because she is not securely attached so always needs a guy around. In comes the "boring" husband. Thankfully OP grew up and is now putting in the work to be a good wife to her good husband. People from unstable households will repeat those patterns. It's nothing new.

There's a healthy balance to strike, as with everything. Let's say someone is fat and wants to get in shape. They can do so with the intention of fitting into a particular dress, or motivate themselves by picking a particular occasion by which they lose weight, or motivate themselves by seeking a relationship, etc. The danger with all these lies in the overweight person becoming complacent and falling back to their unhealthy habits when they have "got" that thing. I'd say that just watching a show when there are books to be read about it as well is much closer to halfassing it. You'll get no argument from me there lol The reason I say it's objectively halfassing it to read spoilers when it't an agreed co-watch is because a significant part of doing a shared activity is getting to see and revel in each other's emotions. Reading spoilers takes away from a spontaneous emotive expression for one person, so it's no longer being on the same page. For me, that's…

This is just as disingenuous, in-bad-faith, and dumb as any other post that attempts to recast the opposite gender's dating grievances. I don't think the bulk of people here are saying a member of the opposite sex must be open to dating a person who has every single subpar characteristic one can think of. That's just BS. What I've seen is short guys saying women will not be open to dating a short guy even if he has other well-above-average characteristics; a virgin saying women won't date other …

Red Pillers are those men (mainly) who took their mothers'/grandmas' and specific Hollywood BS as the Truth, somehow missed alllll the contrary shit happening around them while growing up which the rest of us normies absorbed, and then got hit with Reality. Couldn't take it and went straight to the other extreme. Nice = spineless; Confident = asshole. The healthy middle doesn't exist for them because they're maladjusted.

I don’t think I’ve seen a single married woman here call her husband a “Chad” except ironically to poke fun of how the men here use “Chad.” The married women just say they’re happy with their subjectively awesome husbands and tell bitter men that non-Chads can still find happiness, like their own husbands have.

There are basically no female "chubby chasers" I'm from a different generation and when I was dating, a LOT of women actively sought out the "teddy bear" guy. Look up the American Idol Reuben Stoddard (or something like that), he was coined The Velvet Teddy Bear and women found him attractive. Generally speaking neither gender is attracted to fat people, but there sure are tons of women who're into chubby guys. They just don't call those guys "fat," instead saying things like they "like their me…

This makes perfect sense. It's also the same approach for women only looking to sleep with men; personality/compatibility/kindheartedness etc don't matter if the guy's good looking. But we expect more for LTRs and such.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/03/22 04:54 PM

Yea this makes sense to me and tracks with my personal experience. Which is why it's surprising to hear so many men here say men don't care about a woman's personality, as long as she is attractive and young.

This is exactly why I don't understand why guys need(ed) TRP to learn that taller, conventionally better looking men, with higher status, got girls more. I mean, the dumb-but-hot jock getting the girl over the "kind" nerd has existed throughout every western boy's growing years. How did they miss that and instead just fall for their moms and grandmoms giving them platitudes about girls wanting ugly men? And then swinging to the other extreme, turning resentful bitter angry douchebags.

In my experience, it's men. But I think only by a bit. But it's also been my experience that it's overwhelmingly the men who want more children and the women who do not. So equal amounts of men and women (maybe slightly more men) want their first kid. But overwhelmingly it's the women who refuse to go on to have the next while the men want to.

What kind of a person doesn’t consider their spouse a family member? You know our entire society is set up to treat your spouse as your #1 family member? That’s why the entire probate and medical fields automatically look to one’s spouse for next steps. Yea I mostly agree and that's why I included that last sentence. But this user is very traditional and conservative, and she represents the mentality of that side that a marriage without kids is not a "real family" or is less-than. Which is why I said what I did.
/r/PurplePillDebate23/03/22 08:16 PM

How do you "capitulate" if you leave? The secure type may provide a secure base for the anxious folks, but only for a short while, and then the secures will leave. After that whatever the anxious chooses to do is up to them. Both avoidant and anxious are unstable attachment styles and not something to aspire to either way. The secure is the healthiest option but it's also the most difficult because, as humans, we all have our struggles.
/r/PurplePillDebate23/03/22 08:14 PM

I'm not insecure, I'm feeling disrespected. You seem to suggest a marriage isn't a family without kids? So my husband is not my family member? Men should be comforted, not only by women but also by other men. But regardless they should find emotional support and comfort. But these men should also not dismiss women wanting comfort over solutions. or if they do so, they shouldn't label the women who are solution-minded as unfeminine and bitch about them. women are disgusted to have to provide it. Not in the least. If that's been your experience, then something about you draws these awful women to you. Good men attract good women.
/r/PurplePillDebate22/03/22 09:50 PM
6

You're spot on that most men want women in their lives to offer them comfort over a problem instead of a solution. These same men will scoff at women not wanting to be offered a solution vs. just being acknowledged/validated when sharing a problem. But these men will also condemn a solution-oriented woman to be unfeminine and unattractive. Thankfully some men aren't like that and also times are a-changin.

/r/PurplePillDebate22/03/22 05:05 PM
1

They don't now wish they had had their kids 10 years ago though. And it's not like they didn't know at 25 that they could have kids then and have 10 extra years with them. My parent-friends had careers, travels, freedom of schedule, etc throughout their 20s, which they wouldn't have had with kids at 25. They're very happy with their choice of timeline for their kids.
/r/PurplePillDebate22/03/22 04:53 PM
3

As a childfree woman that doesn't sound too bad lol But yea, I see what you mean. Pretty much all of my parent-friends chose to have their kids only in their 30s though, the loss of 10 years with their kids doesn't bother them. They chose to use those 10 years on other things that they found more fulfilling. Just a different mindset even among those who chose to be parents.

I don't get the ire either. It just makes sense to find compatibility elsewhere if one isn't finding it locally. A lot of East asian women are actively choosing not to date their own nationality men because they're tired of the gender expectations. They shouldn't be stigmatized for doing that. The issue largely is if western men actively pursue poor and/or submissive women and then exploit them. If they're not mistreating the women, it's a win-win for everyone.

The skinny guy in your pic is still toned. I have a preference for the guy on the right, my ideal is a lean and fit guy (think a swimmer's physique) but I find the skinny guy on the left very very attractive as well.
/r/PurplePillDebate21/03/22 04:43 PM

The one of the right is muscular/lean, not skinny. The one on the left (the one with glasses), if you leave out his arms, is skinny but not scrawny.
/r/PurplePillDebate21/03/22 04:33 PM

Does he have a wide upper body...? He looks fairly vertical to me, maybe a slight wideness up top. But yea, the ideal is still wider shoulder and a narrower torso. Btw, I'm not the person who said those guys are muscular.
/r/PurplePillDebate21/03/22 03:51 PM

so are obese men more attractive than skinny men? Not for me personally, that's why I find my skinny husband attractive, but for many women, they'd prefer a bigger guy than a skinny one. For them, a fit guy > chubby guy. skinny guy.

In a country where most people are overweight, and a good chunk (pun intended) are straight up obese, being skinny is not gonna do you any favors. This is especially so for men because in American, the women themselves are significantly overweight, and no woman wants to be bigger than her guy. That said, my husband is skinny as hell, but so am I.

I dislike texting except for planning logistics to meet in person. When I had boyfriends I'd be actively irritated if they texted throughout the day, like, do you not have anything going on?! But I also belong to a different generation so my view may be off kilter.

For those fork-in-road situations, sometimes woman chooses to have husband decide and sometimes husband yields to wife. That's what I said in my comment above. The key I think to a good partnership if for the women to focus on finding such a powerful, wonderful man, who is such a great and trusted leader that she willingly (and even gratefully) gives him the leadership position. And she trusts him with it as long as he is a good faithful and loyal leader. Barf No self respecting woman will agree…

Go to the American South, women not "making a plate" for their man in small towns is judged harshly. Another one is women who choose to have careers while also being moms or women who don't really like kids. They're judged for not fulfilling their feminine imperative. Where I live, toxic masculinity is commonly understood as "boys don't cry" "men need to be the higher earner or he's emasculated" etc. That's also the origin of that phrase. I can't speak to how others around you use it though.
/r/PurplePillDebate19/03/22 12:00 AM
1

Toxic femininity applies in traditionally female contexts, like motherhood, treatment of husband, housekeeping, remembering people's birthdays etc. So an example of toxic femininity is when a woman is judged harshly for not serving her husband/making a plate for him because she has failed in her femininity.

If I have to know that I'll be heard, I'll be acknowledged, I'll be valued but that if there ever is a disagreement, my opinion may be disregarded, is a tough one to live with. Which arm of the military were you in? I had 2 groups of military folks that I hung out with pre-pandemic. One group was an ex-airforce academy student who got married to an active duty Marine (but he wasn't "in the field" .. if that makes sense?). That airforce academy girl dropped out and went to law school instead, which is how I met her. Her close friends were 2 air force officers, who were married to each other. My husband and I would triple date with all of them until they got stationed to…

Those people you know now...are they currently in the military or out? Because most of the time when pressed its 'active duty' military people that are off limits, specifically because of the constant travel and uprooting of lives every few years. I just don't get #3's appeal even though I know she has above average features. She looks like a very good looking cartoon cat cosplaying as a girl. But then again, I'm a straight woman so perhaps the hetero men have different standards in evaluating attraction.

#5 gives me major Betty (from Archie) vibes; she's gorgeous in a girl-next-door wholesome way. #6 is a bit more like Veronica, hot and sassy manner of gorgeous. #2 and #3 don't even look real to me although they're attractive enough.
/r/PurplePillDebate18/03/22 06:42 PM

Of all the women, 3 is the one that caught your eye? I'm a bit surprised by the ratings honestly. To me, women #5 & #6 are absolutely gorgeous. Without seeing their bodies I'd rate them both 8-9/10 honestly. #3 looks like a cartoon.
/r/PurplePillDebate18/03/22 06:20 PM

you cant prove the opposite either That's correct, but that's why I'm not here making claims which I can't prove. If you're claiming women generally disguise their needs as wants you should back up that claim. The same way if I come in claiming women speak directly and plainly, I'd need to back up that claim. I can't do that and that's why I shut my mouth on this. I know what is acceptable to me and have made those my requirements. Of course and I don't mean to question that (although I'm about …
/r/PurplePillDebate18/03/22 06:10 PM
1

So generally speaking women disguise their requirements as preferences? Is this your personal experience or scientifically studied phenomenon? It's been my experience that any person, man or woman, struggles to articulate their needs or wants in the abstract. And even when they do articulate it, when they meet a specific individual, there's a reassessment that's run which can recalibrate those criteria.
/r/PurplePillDebate18/03/22 05:39 PM
1

It's fair to say that when you encounter a woman who tells you or whom you corner into admitting this. But you came into this thread assuming that and started off accusing the women on this sub of doing so.
/r/PurplePillDebate18/03/22 05:24 PM
1

You don't need to justify any of your requirements or preferences, my point was only that what you're looking for isn't "the bare minimum." So telling women we have unrealistic requirements/preferences while you, as a man, are oh so noble and will be happy with "just the bare minimum" is a shit take. I've interacted with you many times and even chatted with you privately, you're better than that.
/r/PurplePillDebate18/03/22 05:16 PM
2

By definition preferences aren't nonnegotiable. Nonnegotiables are called deadlbreakers. Preferences are just bonus things. One of your "bare minimums" is a huge issue; most people want kids. That one alone will considerably shrink your pool. And I'm not even gonna touch the obese thing given just how many people in the US are fat. But I'm not sure what your idea of obese is; a medically obese person looks like an overweight American because of how fat all of America is.

Ah ok
/r/PurplePillDebate18/03/22 04:18 PM

I don't think that's what toxic masculinity means. It means things like if you have a mental health issue like depression or whatever it is, don't let your masculinity stop you from seeing a therapist. If you're having issues in your marriage, don't let your masculinity stop you from seeing a marriage counselor. If you're overcome with grief, don't let your masculinity stop you from crying or sharing your emotions. If your wife makes more than you, don't feel "emasculated" by that. And so on.

/r/PurplePillDebate18/03/22 12:35 AM

Those men are just bitter about their dating experiences and will project this bitterness, or their one encounter with one bitchy woman, onto all because they're emotionally fragile and immature. I don't think men are more shallow than women. Men and women are just shallow about different things or on the same things but to different degrees. (I swear I'm a feminist, don't revoke my card) The men in my life are also not like that. My husband, brother, dad, close guy friends, all respect and chose women who're high achievers academically and professionally. This is a given. But I know of a lot of other men for whom the yardstick is different, especially if they struggle with dating in one…

What does an RP man mean to you?
/r/PurplePillDebate17/03/22 11:34 PM

That was purely a tongue in cheek bitchy remark, I don't fully mean that. But I will say this. Men generally are okay marrying less-smart women as long as other traits line up; women are not. You'll only hear women say they want to marry their best friend; men don't think of spouses that way. If it happens, great, but they're not looking for their best friend or an intellectual companion.

I don't think people, men and women, should be parents at 25. 27-28 should be the minimum threshold, and maximum should be 40 (and that is if the doc approves of that age). I will heartily support health initiatives especially so if we're targeting kids. Once obesity sets in at a young age it's significantly harder to overcome it and it leads to a host of other issues building on top of that. None of which is positive for the individual in question or the society at large.

Approval always carries a connotation of a power differential. I seek approval from my boss or mentor in the professional context. Before I answer, here's some relevant background. I'm in my forties and been married 10+ years. All my dating was pre-Tinder and in the very beginning stages of OLD (OKCupid, Match.com, etc). So I mostly dated people I was around in person. I'm also a lawyer, so between law school and private practice, rarely came into contact with anyone who wasn't a law student or a lawyer. My family and extended social circles are also all white collar professionals and/or academics. I simply never came into …

Probably the former but it's hard to say. I've literally not once even gone out on a date with anyone not white collar (or in school to be a white collar professional).

I don't know how you got misandry when the premise is choosing men (or women, if you're a man) to date. Your list includes aesthetic industry, therapy industry, and hospitality industry. Each of them is largely considered a pink industry the same way blue collar and law enforcement are considered male-dominated industries.

I asked because there are a couple of things at play here. A law grad may lack ambition/drive to grind it out in private practice/inhouse or may not value that track instead valuing a societal contribution more. In either case, their talent/intelligence may not be in question. I know a few lawyers who went into nonprofits or chose to work with various bar associations instead of the more well-trodden private practice/inhouse route. Six figures won'e typically feature until at least their 5th-7th…

If Stacey = Angelina Jolie in her prime or ScarJo or any top tier Hollywood actress in their prime, it's impossible. If Stacey = an attractive girl you can ordinarily meet out at bars or parties on a Friday night, it's quite attainable, especially if you're MC+.

Really?? Hmm maybe I should appreciate hubby a bit more. He takes a couple of hours out every week and grooms himself without me even asking him. He shops twice a year after evaluating his wardrobe/shoes/socks each time. This is after being married 10+ years now.

Reddit women mostly. But I have heard of other women mention not shaving their legs throughout winter because they only wear pants and their legs aren't exposed. But those were not girly girls and were pretty uncommon in my twenties.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/03/22 03:15 PM

If that were the case I'd say the same thing about him that I did about her. If the guy stopped grooming, let his hair get all messed up, wore stained clothing even on date nights, etc, he's a schlub and his wife has every justification to give him a talking to.

I’m on the guy’s side on this issue. Both spouses need to put in effort and not take the other, or the relationship, for granted. Also any abrupt unilateral changes in a relationship require discussion, acknowledgement, and validation.

Lots of links, thanks for that! I don't have a scientific basis to back up my opinion. Do you have one to prove most women want those types of men? I was just making an observation based on my personal experience. it's purely anecdotal which is why it's just a comment on the daily chat instead of a full blown post.

People growing up in abusive households or having abusive relationships is representative...?
/r/PurplePillDebate15/03/22 11:23 PM
2

I don't know the vast majority of hot women and I doubt you do either. If you can back up that the vast majority of hot women like dark triad men and toxicity in their relationships, then it's up to you to back up that claim. Talking about fringe people like sex workers or abused women isn't cutting it.
/r/PurplePillDebate15/03/22 10:14 PM
2

My friends and I are normal women. Not once have we wanted cheap thrills in relationships and fake fighting sounds exhausting. None of us has ever even thought of dating felons or drug dealers or thugs. That simply wasn't on our radar. Which is why I say I don't get PPD men when they paint normal average women as though we want those guys.
/r/PurplePillDebate15/03/22 10:04 PM
2

I go with Rouse/Douse; R and D are more often used than M. Arise is another of my favorites.
/r/PurplePillDebate15/03/22 09:50 PM

They most certainly aren't "bad people" but they're also not representative of normal average women. Unless of course most PPD men here want to date and wife up sex workers and are disappointed that those women prefer drug dealers and felons etc.

Just wanted to say you, Peaches, Westside, and some of the other men on this sub are such sane and healthy people. I appreciate all of your input that goes a lot way to offsetting the toxicity we see from others.

Aren't you the guy who hangs around strippers and exotic dancers? Sure, I will believe they are absolutely gorgeous women who need the rollercoaster lifestyle/relationship.
/r/PurplePillDebate15/03/22 09:33 PM
2

Sure. In that post I linked, there's no indication whether she's trashy/low class; only that she has a history of abuse. So when you said that about trashy and low class women, I thought you were making that connection.
/r/PurplePillDebate15/03/22 08:52 PM
2

I don't want to call abused women trashy or low class but I do think there's overlap there. But that also begs the question of if the guy only comes into contact with these women, maybe he's trashy and low class himself?
/r/PurplePillDebate15/03/22 08:46 PM
2

You know all those times when men here say women only go for the bad guys and actively dislike the good ones? They're only talking about women like this one, who comes from a history of abuse and therefore has normalized it. More importantly, she is not representative of most women. If most women you know are like this and come from abusive relationships/households, then it's time for you to switch up your environment.

someone who is ambitious and makes good money has the mindset of wanting success in all avenues in life. This includes relationships. Unfortunately, you're less likely to lower your standard of living to bring in a romantic partner. I'll confess I don't know too many women who make significantly more than the men around them. The one woman I do know is single mainly because she never comes into contact with any single men and refuses to put in effort to actively search for them. Maybe it's my ag…

If you find yourself having the wealth/income to support yourself and a hypothetical family of four, why would you accept whatever straggler comes your way? A man doesn't need to be either a high powered career guy who can single-handedly support a family of 4 and neither does he need to be an unattractive broke guy. There's a HUGE number of things he can be between those two extremes. A life partner is more than just about asset building and providing resources for a family. Emotional intimacy …

I like your phrasing here. So let's take a woman who does not want to have kids but has to have them to marry the guy she loves. If she marries him and has kids, she compromised? Or does this fall more in the settling bucket?
/r/PurplePillDebate15/03/22 06:32 PM

/r/PurplePillDebate15/03/22 06:25 PM

Yea this makes sense, and sounds like what others are chiming in with as well. It's very much a matter of mindset and individual contentment.
/r/PurplePillDebate15/03/22 06:23 PM
1

Interesting, so this is more so a divide between content vs. discontent.
/r/PurplePillDebate15/03/22 06:21 PM

I agree, so it's all a question of mindset then?
/r/PurplePillDebate15/03/22 06:11 PM

Q4All: What, in your opinion, is the difference between "compromising" and "settling?" How do you personally toe this line? Feel free to illustrate in any context - dating/professionally/life in general. Edit to add this scenario to focus the discussion more: Let's take a woman who does not want to have kids but has to have them to marry the guy she loves. If she marries him and has kids, she compromised? Or does this fall more in the settling bucket?

This guy has caught my eye anytime I've seen him on screen. Line of Duty and Midsomer Murders also have a smattering of SA actors who've caught my eye. I'm not massively into chiselled features on men or women so I find it difficult to relate. Yea that makes sense. It also makes your choice of hot women fall into place more now. Finding a great guy was one of the easiest things in my life, and I don’t have half of the qualities your sister has. Quite possible that sister doesn't think your guy is a "great guy" subjectively. Sounds like her expectations were basically castles in the air.

There are plenty of better looking South Asian men. Of course there are plenty of way way better looking SA men, I was only comparing him to this very limited pool of 11 candidates. Where I live I see a lot of East and South Asians. I see tons of them out on dates at restaurants and bars, typically with members of their same group but also with other groups. The ones who do suffer tend to have issues with social skills. But there's no getting around the fact that US pop culture, until maybe the last decade, heavily stereotyped these 2 groups of men. I don't necessarily agree with the OP or the context in which that thought process is being deployed. That said, there are multiple instincts, so I don't see the conflict between someone wanting to instinctively provide but losing that instinct because a contrary instinct kicks in based on further information. but why would it make sense for it to be an “instinct” if you don’t want to do it just because someone else wants you to? Fair points. But I think you're not really representative of men offline either. I think it makes a big difference that you were never really into casual sex nor were you struggling to get and keep dates/relationships.

I agree with you that's good looking, and if I were single and he lived next door, I'd be in and out my house hoping to run into him lol But I don't want to dilute the meaning of "Chad" which is considered God-tier men. A lot of discussions here are centered on women only going for Chads and if we start calling any regular good looking guy a Chad, those discussions end up being pointless (which they mostly are but still...)

I can't really say it ever was much of an issue at all No fair, your experiences are far too positive for anyone to use you as representative of most guys in the dating pool. I think it's because the women in these overweight countries find skinny men threatening ;)

Maybe I've associated a few things in my mind, based on my personal experiences and observations. "Friendly/sympathetic/cooperative" women tend to not challenge guys even in social fun settings. These are the patient and understanding accommodating girlfriends. I also think for someone to be an interesting conversationalist, they don't necessarily have to be witty or even too opinionated. My circle's guys want a challenging, intellectually stimulating, socially not timid/cooperative women as the…

The women I would want relationships with are those who are are mutually cooperative, capable adults who are able to compromise and all that good stuff. I’m not looking for strife, I’m lazy at heart and would like nothing more to share life’s labours for mutual comfort That sounds very healthy and I'd advise that for anyone looking for a life partner
/r/PurplePillDebate09/03/22 12:56 AM

if I am going to be in a relationship with someone that last thing I want is to get that shit when I come home. I don’t want to be challenged or held accountable or any other dramatic bullshit I read that as "only men want agreeable women for this reason." If you say this isn't a gendered thing, and that both men and women want and need agreeable spouses, I 100% agree with you.
/r/PurplePillDebate09/03/22 12:41 AM

The rest? Extremely rare to hear a dude say. This may just be dependent on family and friend circles. I come from a very ambitious and goal-oriented family and my friends circle is similar. In our circles, education, career, income matter greatly. Socially speaking, if a woman can't go toe-to-toe with a guy or his circle of guy friends in conversation/wit/banter, that tends to not fly too well. So being "agreeable" in that context is also not regarded positively.
/r/PurplePillDebate09/03/22 12:37 AM
7

So then why doesn't that apply equally to her? Why should she trust you but you wouldn't trust her? Both of you have to be "agreeable" and "cooperative" because, as you said, it's both of you against the world.
/r/PurplePillDebate09/03/22 12:31 AM

Friendly, sympathetic/caring, cooperative. Those are all pieces of agreeableness. I'm sure something very similar to those terms have been used at some point in your circle...right? Not once, except maybe caring (but my female friends said this too). My social circle used/s some variation of this instead: "I want a smart woman who challenges me." or "Someone who broadens my world" "Interesting conversationalist" "Someone who I know can take care of herself if anything were to happen to me" It's …

Literally who, man or woman, wants to "come home to someone who wants to fight you on bullshit" though? This is the whole reason women also vet for compatibility, which is just a way to reduce friction in their lives. If my SO and I can't agree on what to have for dinner, where to go for our next vacation, whether my SO is happy to attend my friend's birthday party, and so on, that's miserable for me. Regardless of whether I'm a woman or a man.

It seems real mean to label people as losers over something they have no control over. I know at least a few people who moved their sexual market abroad because of the cultural fit, but without buying the spouse. I'll paste my reply to another commenter who holds views almost identical to yours: I think the culture fit I was referring to is sort of between the 2 categories you've mentioned. I didn't say "not sexy at all," that was your endorsement when you quoted the original commenter: and he's not sexy at all. He is tall though. "Not sexy at all" and "tall" is a contradiction when you're talking about a man. A man is more attractive than he would've otherwise been if he's tall. But an ugly ass man will only be less ugly if he's tall; he doesn't magically become sexy just by being tall.

I am surrounded by highly educated young women and only some of them are on social media, I don't know a single thot. Anyway, the whole point of this conversation was whether to bring back a traditional/religious way of life. Easily. Toxic femininity is women who judge other women for not handling motherhood in a particular way. Career woman used to be routinely judged for not choosing to be SAHMs or women could be judged by other women for not breastfeeding their babies. Another example is when women judge other women for how they treat their husbands. I've heard women judge others who don't "make a plate" for their husbands, for example. Spoiling their husbands and making him feel like a "king" Which is fine if tha…

I'm not at all special. Literally all of life is lived somewhere on the spectrum between 0-100 of every issue. Work-life balance; n-count; taxation; on and on and on. On every issue, we as a society determine, somehow, what's an acceptable balance between the 2 extremes. This balance keeps shifting depending on how each society shapes itself. That's just life and that's just humanity at work. So yea, a man who cries twice a week indefinitely is unattractive. But a man can easily openly share his…

No, if that poster had his way, that religious society wouldn't allow for a woman to dump that man. So that's not an issue he'd need to be worried about. Religion will ensure the woman doesn't have a chance to be educated or financially provide for herself, AND there'll be religious laws to disallow divorce or enough overwhelming cultural/social stigma that divorce will be deeply unpalatable even if the laws allowed it.

Sure, but I've been the woman who's dated and evaluated my attraction towards men who've shown these "weaknesses." As with everything, showing such vulnerability falls on a spectrum. If you're constantly moaning about your problems, it's very unattractive. But showing occasionally vulnerability to a woman you're interested in dating is just fine. Seeking medical help, in my opinion, is actually attractive because it shows me a man who is responsible and confident in problem-solving and his own m…

/r/PurplePillDebate06/03/22 08:37 PM
3

I think the problem is with both genders thinking seeking medical help is a weakness. Healthy people make for attractive partners, which is a win-win for everyone. Women don't think a man seeking medical help is being a wuss; instead women think a man who doesn't seek medical attention, instead manifesting their medical problems, is unattractive. This isn't a gendered issue though, women who manifest their medical issues instead of seeking treatment are also unattractive.

I was replying to u/hdksndiisn and it was a direct response to something they brought up. In my opinion, toxic masculinity is worth a discourse because, as I pointed out, it hurts men as well, so if we want better outcomes for men, that's a topic of interest. Beyond that, I'm not particularly concerned whether you personally find anything to gain from that discussion.

can't find a woman because they all make their own money now or they get money from their parents So you'd prefer a woman to be with you out of necessity? You're like that antiquated industry whose product lacks market value so you need the government to shut down competition because only then will people be forced to buy your product. Well done, who needs self respect or dignity when you can just subjugate women.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/03/22 07:53 PM

more families will shell out money for their daughters than their sons society makes it seem like women should be provided assistance while men should assist themselves. Yes, this is exactly what people mean when we refer to "toxic masculinity" which both men and women have internalized and which in turn influences their behavior. Ultimately this notion is harmful to men, as you've seen in your case where men's health outcomes are poorer than women's.

Alpha Beta dichotomy is incredibly simplistic. Congrats on your Masters thesis! I'm reading parts of it and many parts make sense. Most religious guys think this way, that women are inferior to men and must be subservient to men. This is why it's usually a bad bet for women to marry religious men or traditional men.

Do you also want a source for handshakes being the accepted body language at interviews and business meetings? Anyway, here you go. Just to be clear in case I wasn't, I didn't mean it's ok to hug colleagues unless you know them. And here's one for How to approach a woman in public, which phrasing presumes approaching a woman in public is okay.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/03/22 06:12 PM
2

You can ask just as I can not ask. It's honestly social mores and conventions. If I visit an Islamic country, I know that by default, I shouldn't hug the people there. If in France, the default is a goodbye hug and kiss on both cheeks. At a formal interview, a handshake is the default. In the US and most western places, being hugged and men cold approaching is still the default. If that default convention changes, sure, people like me can dislike it but can't really complain that we aren't being…
/r/PurplePillDebate01/03/22 06:04 PM

As a woman, 100% this. And especially this --> "If they're rude to someone politely approaching that's on them for being a rude person."

2

What a strange question. Their personhood/humanity.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/03/22 05:56 PM
1

People can't preemptively give permission; permission can only happen after the act. So I can only be given/not given permission after I hug. What'll it look like before I hug them? They just randomly go around telling everyone "Don't hug me?"
/r/PurplePillDebate01/03/22 05:54 PM
4

This specific user apparently also has a problem with casual hugs. These are really not the people who should advice anyone on interpersonal communications. They live siloed and fortified lives. I will defend any respectful man trying to authentically connect with any woman and especially so if that's in public spaces.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/03/22 05:52 PM
1

My philosophy is to be warm and emotionally engaging with people. So I hug everyone unless they tell me they're uncomfortable with it. If things like hugging, a stranger saying hello to you while both of you are in public spaces, etc trigger you so much, maybe confine yourself to private spaces only. The world doesn't have to cater to your specific anti-social preferences.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/03/22 05:49 PM
1

I don't want to miss out on an opportunity to get to know a man whom I may not have the opportunity to get to know if he didn't cold approach me. So no, I disagree that if they don't know whether you like or dislike cold approaches, they shouldn't cold approach at all. I say do it and walk away the moment the other party actively rejects them.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/03/22 05:45 PM
4

Reddit women can be quite obnoxious and have a big problem with being cold approached. They think anyone deigning to talk to them is earth-shattering and traumatic and being left alone is their inalienable right. I'm happy to say this is not really representative of women outside of Reddit, which platform isn't the best known for normal and socially well-adjusted people anyway.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/03/22 05:39 PM
2

No man can read a random woman's mind and therefore her view on cold approaches. They have no way to know which camp you and the vast majority of women you know fall into on this issue. The same way that they won't know which camp I and the women I know who share my approval of cold approaches fall into. It's not inherently disrespectful to em and other women, and you and many women you know hold the opposite view. To u/ohheyhi99, we all look the same and nothing will indicate to him which camp …
/r/PurplePillDebate01/03/22 05:36 PM
3

You're not representative of all or even most women. As another woman, I can tell u/ohheyhi99 that I personally would never have a problem being cold approached. I also know quite a few of my female friends don't have an issue with it either. It's downright arrogant to presume you can speak for all the ladies out there. Just say you don't like it and move on.

It's a shitty rainy fucking miserable gray week in Seattle. So obviously it's pho time. Since there are quite a few of us in the Seattle area: Q4PPDSeattleites: Which restaurant makes the best Pho in this area? I like Le's Pho Tai and Pho 99, with both being worth the drive/delivery if available. Pho Ha and Ba Bar are close runners up. Tagging u/WestsideMoonWalker cos he generally knows his Seattle area restaurants.

Agreed. Multiple types of Russian identities the same as with any other multi- cultural/ethnic/religious country. I just thought Narnia's ethnicities were East Asian and Slavic. I wasn't questioning whether those ethnic identities invalidate her Russianness (although gimp did).

Wait, you've edited your comment and added information about Narnia. She's not ethnically Russian?? I know she's said she looks East Asian; is she actually East Asian and happens to live in Russia?
/r/PurplePillDebate27/02/22 08:00 PM

I've wanted to visit St Petersburg forever. I find the Romanovs fascinating. Ah, I thought you lived in Russia proper. Are you concerned about what's going on right now? What're your thoughts on the situation and how do you think it'll end?

Hey Gimp, are you Russia and/or in Russia?
/r/PurplePillDebate27/02/22 07:52 PM

I was like 100% sure gimp was in Russia. Someone recently asked Narnia and Gimp whether something in Russia is true, so that kinda cemented my opinion of them both being Russians in Russia. But I could be wrong.

Some women here are equally guilty of assuming, conveniently and with no evidence, that men here are autistic, incels, hate women, and/or basement dwelling neck beards. As long as each side insists on stereotyping the other in the worst way possible, without care for accuracy, nothing will change and neither side can claim any righteousness.

Finding any kind of facial products for me is a nightmare. Literally everything irritates my skin including CeraVe and EltaMD, both of which have cult-like following as being A+ for sensitive skin. So I'm real thankful this particular sunscreen has worked well for me. The one big issue I have with it is I generally try to shop for cruelty-free brands and this isn't one of those.

You described a trope that's applicable to women about men, yes. I'm just saying men also build up a composite of a man who can have inconsistent attributes based on gathering various different women's subjective preferences, the same way that this OP has done. Group A may prefer height but not want a college educated guy and instead preferring blue collar workers; Group B may want tertiary education but not want a 6 footer; etc. Men routinely ignore the "not want" parts though and build up one …
/r/PurplePillDebate24/02/22 11:09 PM
1

As though tropes don't exist for men
/r/PurplePillDebate24/02/22 10:47 PM
3

Men here do the exact same thing. They build up a composite of the Ideal Man based off of different women expressing their own preferences and attribute it to every woman. For e.g.; Group A of women might say they prefer 6' men; Group B say they prefer at least MS in men; Group C says they prefer a shredded gym bod. PPD men turn around and go, "Oh so women want a man who is 6' tall AND is shredded AND has at least a MS degree." This post is the female version of that garbage conflation.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/02/22 10:11 PM

/r/PurplePillDebate24/02/22 08:25 PM

How is this different from RP men going "AWALT" and treating all of womenkind like a monolith? But I agree that a mishmash of different groups of people's preferences is pointless. regardless of gender.

I don't know how to even begin to explain the obvious reasons why someone might think a person's nationality might have a huge bearing on that person, and eventually, that person's compatibility with the other person. If a person from Georgia, US sees a guy from Texas, US, she might common sensibly infer that she's compatible with him because being from Texas, US carries certain cultural connotations. This might differ if it were a Georgia, US with an Alaska, US profile or London, UK profile, or…

That's not how women operate, that's how everyone operates. This is why it's standard advice for even married couples to give each other space so that you can miss each other. That missing each other is integral to maintain the romance and keep from taking each other and the marriage for granted.

I was talking about dating too. I also mentioned generation gap being huge. I know in cities like Bangalore and Mumbai, dating is pretty normal. But the way the parents of a 22 year old girl will view dating is at least 2 generations different from the way that daughter views dating. Attitudes are very different.

Men need to let go of the misconception that women who generally have sex on the first dates are sluts OR that being a slut makes them bad partners. What really impairs pair bonding is the reason for having all that sex - trauma, low self esteem, drugs, addiction of any other kind, etc.

It's frustrating that there doesn't seem to be separate Overweight and Obesity breakdowns for 20-29 and 30-39 ages. It's almost like no one wants to really face the picture. From your source, I found these components interesting: Those with some college education or less compared with college graduates, who have the lowest prevalence of obesity. Those with an annual household income less than $25,000 compared with those with higher levels of income; the prevalence of obesity increases with each …

In all these discussions, I've yet to see someone offer this as a reason someone may not sleep with you on the first date: She's scared you may judge her as non-relationship material. She may be attracted to you and she may have slept with other guys on the first date in the past, but if she thinks (even if mistakenly) that you'd be turned off by a woman who sleeps on the first date, despite her wanting to sleep with you, she won't.

Using celebs almost never works. To me Shailene Woodley is a 5-5.5/10 and that's taking into account her body. Her face is pretty ugly to me. but... she's a eleb who regularly plays lead roles and her movies aren't flops. Celebs shouldn't count for beauty ratings on PPD.

Q4M: Post pics of girls/women you think are 6/10 & 7/10. Mention your age and location so we know the judging context. This comes from a post about average women and abundance, where a couple of posters said men and women don't really rate accurately. I'm curious what PPD men think are 6s and 7s.

Unless you give me reasons for why this sub is representative of all of Reddit, or that this sub's married women don't come from higher education-higher income threshold background, it's just your opinion vs. mine. Which is really meaningless. I haven't seen the demographics of this sub broken down by how the married PPD women stack up education and income wise against the other groups. But it's a cliche on here that most of the women seem to be UMC and above.

If someone sought advice for social upward mobility, then I agree burger flippers may not be the best people to give that advice. Maybe they can still as advice on what not to do lol. But if someone comes here seeking advice on achieving a happy and healthy romantic relationship, without knowing further particulars, any person in such happy and healthy relationship can give their advice. The advice-seeker can then evaluate how much weight to accord to the advice-giver's perspectives. Also, HVM s…

If enough people agree that it's okay we should have it. It's not actively harming people and therefore it's a valid view to have. Gotcha. I still think it actively harms people to stop someone from working at all. People find fulfillment from work and many root their identities in it. There are so many other fundamental factors that go into someone's wish to work. It's a great harm to ban half of society from working and just based on their gender, too. Don't move goalposts. In your own words, you said a view is valid so long as enough people agree with it. I gave you examples of other views which enough people agreed with and asked you if you still think "enough people agree with it" is a good metric to evaluate the validity of an opinion. But fine, if you don't want to debate that threshold question, we'll discontinue this because there's no point.
/r/PurplePillDebate22/02/22 03:31 PM
3

No, these specific examples are fine and while judgey, do make some sense at least. But why would you judge all married women of PPD based off 3 examples?? Beyond that, if those women are truly happy with their choice of partners, as long as their advice isn't to just go after men who're clear outliers, their advice still holds merit for how to find a spouse that makes them individually/subjectively happy, no?
/r/PurplePillDebate22/02/22 03:28 PM

Literally none of what you said addresses my two questions. But your opening comment was if you want advice, you'd ask the person who was successful in that department and not those who aren't. In the case of dating, shouldn't that be the married folks then? Why are married women of PPD the worst advice givers? And in what ways exactly is our advice so bad? Also, do address my second point about the beauty of the female PPD users and how that relates to our contributions here.
/r/PurplePillDebate22/02/22 03:19 PM

If, by your definition of what's a valid view, enough people support/hold certain views, then that view has merit right? I can think of at least 2 situations in history where enough people viewed the extermination of Jews and the enslavement of black people, as acceptable. So according to you, those views were valid and had merit just because "enough people agree that it's okay?" I don't see why forcing women from something is okay but not forcing them to do something else isn't okay. Seems high…

I don’t get your stance on a couple of things. I’m one of the married women of PPD. Why do you think my perspectives or contributions on this sub are the worst? Congrats on posting info from the same study at least. But you've still not pointed to the reason why the woman being the dominant earner is divorced. The reason could either be her hypergamy, or it could be that the man is now feeling emasculated by her being the dominant earner.
/r/PurplePillDebate21/02/22 06:50 PM

Chinese women aren't Swedish or American women. Vastly different cultures and mindsets. So no, unless you point to something in the same study that you cited about successful Swedish women getting divorced more, I'm not buying that it's solely hypergamy in the case of the Swedish women.
/r/PurplePillDebate21/02/22 05:55 PM

What is the reason women CEOs and women being promoted get divorced? Is it because the men they're with feel emasculated and leave/cheat/et al? Or is it because these women lose their attraction to their husbands when they get the promotions/job titles? Without an identified reason, we still don't know whether the blame is on women's hypergamy or men feeling emasculated by successful women.

Self improvement will always work. Not pedestalizing a person is also a great thing to do. Having the self confidence that your world doesn’t have to revolve around one woman so that her rejection of you isn’t the life ending thing fragile men think it is, is also a good thing. So TRP works… but none of this is exclusive to TRP anyway. It’s all common sense that a lot of us, including myself, learned growing up as life lessons.

But deciding beforehand that you're never going to befriend another girl (aka, "pulling back from making female friends") is just the other extreme of that spectrum. One should always find a healthy balance instead of trying to live life on a 0-100 mode.

Even if you find a girl unattractive and you think you won't like her as more than a friend, you still don't befriend them? Most desperate and/or maladjusted guys will find most girls attractive, if not at first, eventually. That said, it also takes a certain mindset to use one kinda-sorta "negative" experience, at the age of THIRTEEN, to say they'll never befriend any girl ever.

all the major cities in Texas are blue, as major cities tend to be. This is so true. The divide really isn't as much state-state as it is between rural-urban. I really do wonder why that is. Is it exposure to varied cultures? Is it the population density that makes someone less likely to "other" someone from a different cultural/religious/ethnic background...? Some other reason or a combination of reasons? It's super interesting to me.

I've always preferred lean and lanky to athletic/muscular. But what stuck out to me is the non-body difference in the too-muscular man vs. skinny man images. The too-muscular man is shown to have a masculine confident facial expression while the skinny guy is grinning like a clown and looks bashful. Those expressions alone would turn off women from wanting that skinny guy regardless of his physique. Clearly even men think skinny men are caricatures and not "real men."

Do synonyms not exist in your world? A wife is a spouse who’s a life partner (same for husband). I don’t see the need for forcing differences between these terms. Agree on complementary strengths and a united front to finish weaknesses as a team/unit. Just because they’re not identical doesn’t mean they are t of equal importance. A business can have a tech co founder and a business co founder. They’re of vastly different skill sets but equals as partners.

As you yourself have observed, there are different categories of women out there and the right category(ies) will treat you respectfully and with the love yo…

That really sucks, I'm sorry to hear you've had such bad experiences. In light of that, your negative comments about women make sense.

Oh hang on, were you saying fat AND under 30 = automatic 3 point boost? Then I lose! I'll still give you the 3 extra points for being a good conversationalist. To have that, you must have aged gracefully. Ha thank you. I generally strive to get along with everyone, I firmly believe we all have more in common than less most of the time.

No character flaw whatsoever. I wouldn't even call you perpetually single because that phrase, to me, means you've never dated. You've got plenty of dating experience. The only things that might cause me concern if I were to evaluate your relationship potential if whether you have the time and bandwidth for an LTR in light of your frequent travels and video game consumption. If you can demonstrate that you're actually interested in exclusivity and make the time/effort for a relationship, you'd b…

If you aren't a woman that fits in the demographic context, that makes you an outlier. OP was calling those women who don't share outliers, meaning most women share, and therefore he didn't want outliers' inputs because any information they share is worthless. I challenged that because it's very relevant to the topic he wanted to discuss. We did go on to productively discuss the actual topic and not just the premise. Oh interesting you're saying even when it comes to casual partners, men don't share as much as women might? That could well be a factor but I still think my first point is the primary reason why men don't share sexual details about their current LTR with their guy friends. If the homo thing was the primary reason, men wouldn't be so quick to share sexual details of their ONS and other casual encounters, which they most certainly do share.

I'll paste what I replied to the OP in response to your question: I'd pick two reasons why the difference between the genders on this issue: Women believe/know that men will picture the info shared. So if men share sexual details of their current lass with their male friends, those guys will picture the girl in question with her clothes off, performing those sexual acts, etc. Which is distasteful. I'm not sure what my husband's exact height is, just the range. But if there's a discussion here where someone solicits that info, I'd pick a specific number from that range instead of giving the range itself. Just because it's easier to discuss using specific numbers. The last time we were talking about our men's salaries, we all gave a range. I'm sure there are women who discuss in detail but in my observation and personal experience, most don't.
/r/PurplePillDebate09/02/22 07:05 PM

I can't speak for others but my friends are I barely shared any sexual details of whomever we were dating at that time. Exes were fair game as were ONS/FWBs, but not our BFs or husbands. At most we might say he's amazing in bed or that he has no problems with size or some some such generic statement.

If your view "bUT I dOn'T sHaRe and I aM a WoMaN" or vice-versa, not interested in your inputs, save yourself time, you are an outlier, your opinion is irrelevant And there it is. You've already concluded the premise, closed your mind, and so anyone not willing to endorse your confirmation bias is immediately and conveniently dismissed as an "outlier." Why don't you also just conclude the reasons for why women share sexual details too? Save yourself some time.

I'm plenty social and have been all my life. I've gone to plenty of bars and a few strip clubs back in the day, but these were the classy ones and not the nasty down n dirty ones with pimps strolling about. Again, socioeconomic backgrounds dictate a large part of what you come into contact with and what you gravitate towards.

THat's one group. The other group comes from a low socioeconomic background where it's common to find men who are drug dealers and pimps; so common that it's also common to find women who'd date these drug dealers and pimps. Meanwhile here I am racking my brains trying to figure how the hell I can even come across a single drug dealer or a pimp.

When I was dating a particular ex, the sheer number of men who took me aside and told me to dump him because he was "beneath me" and I "could do way better", and scoffing at him and asking me "why in the name of hell" I'd want to be with him.... was pretty high. Women didn't do this at all. The men would blatantly ignore him and talk only to me when he was standing right next to me. So no, I disagree that women encourage each other's hypergamy, it's usually the men.

Congratulations! You have now encountered the Bechdel Test in real life. There are a couple of logical reasons for why this happens: Women do talk amongst each other about guys and especially so compared to men. Most of it is socialization and not innate biology. Men are taught that it's "gay" to talk about feelings, and so anything other than, "I banged her" is considered effeminate or "gay." But rest assured that men do very much talk about their feelings and romantic dynamics, just with their…

There's stuff a GF can and should initiate in a relationship (gestures of affection, planning a surprise birthday party even if the guy hasn't planned for her before, organizing and hosting Thanksgiving together as a couple, etc) but that's a whole different class from combining finances, buying a house with him, having kids with him, taking care of his sick family member, etc. The marriage class of things shouldn't be done while in GF/BF role (by either the guy or the girl).

/r/PurplePillDebate08/02/22 05:42 PM

And don't act so high and mighty, women who have had casual sex are called whores and prostitutes every single day in this sub.
/r/PurplePillDebate08/02/22 05:40 PM

As a woman, I'd say that it's at once an accurate and inaccurate statement that women care less about looks. If we assessed looks exclusively, we are much more picky. BUT looks themselves matter less in what attracts us to guys.
/r/PurplePillDebate08/02/22 05:37 PM

/r/PurplePillDebate08/02/22 05:34 PM

There is no way to force a man to do things he doesn't want to do. Especially when it comes to childcare—you don't want to entrust a little life to an incompetent or lazy man You can't physically make another person do anything (legally, i.e.) but there are other ways to make them. If ultimately none of those ways makes the person in question do those things, then you don't procreate (more) with that dipshit and/or leave that dipshit. I don't know if she chose wrong and especially not based on him refusing to contribute towards child care. Because she couldn't have spotted that before having a child. I just think she needs to put her foot down about his lack of household and childcare contribution; and she also needs to firmly tell him she won't be having that second kid till he demonstrates a sustained healthier lifestyle. She wasn't shocked about his obesity or his diabetes He eats unhealthy foods, smokes, and he has a lot of family history of diabetes, so I wasn't surprised, She's just wondering how to talk to him about not wanting the second baby. If you don't go into a relationship thinking this is the one you want to spend the rest of your life with, what do you go into a relationship for? "I'll use you until I'm hotter/wealthier/in a better place mentally then I'll get rid of you?" I think that's more disturbing than anything. Black and white thinking strikes again. but on ppd we get a weird vocal demographic of ... and 40+ married women As one of these, this sub really has made me question whether the dating landscape is now unrecognizable to me to the extent that my perspectives and "wisdom" as a successfully paired up older woman is worthless/irrelevant. I did OLD but it was pre-Tinder and instant/constant swiping didn't exist. Looks and catchphrases didn't almost-100% define someone's dating quotient.

I agree with you to some extent, but expecting to have just one relationship the entirety of your life is utopian and is setting yourself up for failure. Are you saying a relationship you had at 20 is expected to last till you die and if that doesn't happen, you're gonna be sad forever? Maybe she's very happy as she is in her current situation. If she's content with it, why not just let her be? It'd be like someone coming up to me, who's childfree, and saying I'd be happier stepping outside my comfort zone and becoming a parent. Like... why?
